Manchester United Thread

Woohoo!

Great signing, Beachryan that team is pretty awesome but you know as well as me we'll rarely field that side due to injuries.

We need that CM now.

Yep. Midfielder please. I have literally no idea who it'll be.

Can't see Modric, Tiote, Cabaye or any names like that. Will have to be a player from another league imo.

SAF won't sign someone like Tiote, he's said in the past he doesn't want that type of player.

Though why that means he's neglected the midfield for so long I don't know.

I don't suppose we'll actually get Modric but it's nice to think we're trying.

Shinji looks like a good signing, look forward to seeing him play for United.

Kinda think that SAF will get a Prem player next, cant see him trying to get too many players from outside the league.

As for the much talked about CMF position, I hope Cleverley can make an imapct amd maybe get Fletch back...

Would like to see a player signed for that position for this season, been long enough now!

Hopefully no one gets the No.7 shirt next year especially after the ridiculous choice of giving it to Owen, it's a shirt with a certain Legend feel about it at United and I for would like to see it kept until another true great shows themselves at United, a player like Kagawa certainly could earn it but I think 'earn' is the word maybe after one or two seasons to show he deserves it.

Edit- forgot to quote anyone, but for the discussion on the previous page.

Pogba's finally gone, signed for Juve. I don't really understand the move personally, given that they have way more first team players in his position than us, but word is he's going on loan to Udinese this season as part of the deal taking Asamoah to Juve.

Genuinely disappointed that he and Morisson's United career amounted to zip, but that's the world of football these days. His agent gets paid with his move to Italy, and hey presto, off he goes.

Two of the clus most promising young players, it's a shame to lose them. Morrison left for footballing reasons it seems West Ham are much more likely to play him so it's fair enough.
The way it seems for Pogba is that they offered 2 or 3 times his wages at United, a move for money it appears.

nah Morrison had a quite a few problems in Manchester, he needed to go somewhere and start over.

Pogba getting the same money @ Juve, the agent would not have gotten as much if he had stayed tho.

Seems as well that Morrisons problems haven't subsided getting away from Manchester so we probably dodged a bullet with him (no doubt probably literally), regardless of how talented he was.

I'm not so sure it was ALL about the agent with Pogba, but probably 90%. If he wasn't willing to stay and try and get into our team then fuck him.

I'm not sure Morisson has played a single minute for the West Ham first team - surprised by that. Hopefully he turns it around and has a good career.

Players with 'a lot of promise' is just a tag. They may be good enough for the reserve league but not good enough to hold a place in the first team...Reserve players who made it into the first team and claim a place are the real deals.
Pogba and Morrison made their choices...All the best from wayyy up here.

He's just what United need! If that happened, It'd be absolutely awesome but a huge loss to Spurs who've now lost Kranjcar as well.

Also news that we've signed a 18year old Chilean in a deal for £3m Henriquez

not spent enought time at senior level to get work permit...

so few things to be sorted out there...

See how that pans out...

I can't believe we'd pay Spurs over £30m again for a player in that age group. He's an excellent, excellent footballer and I'd love to think we could afford it, but I don't see how we can.

Re: Henriquez - my understanding is that we 'bought' first option on him a while back. There were pictures circulating of him and Fergie and what not, doing the whole hug in a United jersey thing. I didn't think we'd be bringing him to England yet, as he's still very young and raw.

Plays like Ruud, from what I've seen - a true striker who scores a good variety of goals.

Modric is a fantastic midfielder, and one who can improve United.. But surely we need someone a bit more 'destructive' than creative, someone who can break up attacks and also move to ball forward.
I'd love to see Modric in a United shirt next year, but feel we'd be better off with someone like Javi Martinez, Tiote or even Vidal from Juventus.

Though did see the Polish NT manager attempting to sell half Dortmunds players with United set to sign Lewandowski, can't see it happening to be fair we have enough strikers plus Dortmund won't sell anymore of their stars.

Have I missed something? nothing concrete AT ALL regarding Modric just BS Red top papers. In that case we'd already have Sanchez, Hazard, Kaka and Messi in the squad.

The Modric and Lewandowski transfers are probably media bollocks.
I'll just wait for official announcements ala Kagawa's deal.
Henriquez's deal might have been struck a year ago too.

Of course, no one said it was a done deal.

What, we cant specualte now, smh.

The modric thing i heard off a spurs fan in exile who lives up here but works down south.

We knew about Henriquez a year ago but the club have stepped up attempts to get a work permit for tis season.

I think speculation is all it is, we've been linked with yet another CM, Strootman, because Fletchers future is uncertain.
In the last two to three days the Rumour Mill has seen United set to spend around a further £79million on Nick Powell, Luka Modric, Leighton Baines, Kevin Strootman and Robert Lewandowski. Add into that the Kagawa deal its £91million. As great as it would be to see all the new names at the club, I find it hard to believe with the Glazier debt the club has that sort of money to spend right now, without selling Rooney and I don't see Fergie agreeing to that.

Welcome to Manchester United, Nick Powell !!!

From Goal.com
Manchester United have confirmed the signing of Nick Powell from Crewe Alexandra for an undisclosed fee.

The Red Devils have confirmed the highly-rated midfielder has already passed a medical and agreed a four-year contract which will start 1 July 2012.

Speaking to ManUtd.com, Sir Alex Ferguson said: “We have scouted Nick for months now. He is an exceptional talent and has been schooled well at Crewe.I’m delighted he has chosen to come to United. He has a lot to offer and we are all looking forward to working with him."

Powell, 18, is delighted to have completed his dream move and is looking forward to playing alongside his new team-mates next season.

He said: “It really is a dream come true to be signing for Manchester United. I have had a great time at Crewe and I would like to thank them for helping me to develop as a player over the past 13 years.I’m excited about continuing my development with Sir Alex and the world-class players in the squad. The thought of making the step up to the Premier League next season is an exciting prospect. I can’t wait to get started.”

Powell is a great prospect, let's just hope he doesn't get lost in the youth system, end up playing a few seasons on loan and end up an out of favour one time future superstar.

I think United should toy with the idea of creating a 'B' side like Barca have, it would give more playing time to the younger squad players and avoid us losing players such as we have with Pogba.
