Manchester United Thread

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

The best excuse I've heard is that Rooney was setting a bad example for the children.

Have these people not seen children nowadays? They swear more than anyone else, heck they have swear words that the rest of us don't even know!

that might be true, but not all are like this + there is whole world watching so the players should have in mind there is some limits of how they should behave.. i agree it´s nothing for us..but for some younger 10-11 Rooney or others are gods, and everything they do- the younger do also..

i know there is passion in football and i totaly understand Rooney has more than enough of it...but FA is right for punishing him becouse in his case it´s not the first time he overreacted on pitch..

Did Giggs made simillar thing while celebrations..? i don´t think so..

Fowler did get 6 match ban for his famous celebration some years ago... this is nothing new..

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

You'll find it is, in fact, by definition unprecedented. Indeed, that's how the PFA have described it. Not wanting to flog the proverbial dead horse, but if it was comparable to Fowler or any other celebration, he would have been charged for breaking those rules. Not for foul and abusive language.

He is the only player to ever be banned for breaking that specific rule (at least in living memory). Hence, any punishment is unprecedented. Hence, something new.

Anyway, as kind as the FA are to tell the club at 6 what their decision is (the public don't know til tomorrow at 10) we do have a small match this evening, so can we move on please?

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Could really of used Fletcher (What the hell is wrong with him anyway? I know it's said to be a virus) for this game, still worried about the power Chelsea have.

As long as we can keep the score low and grab a goal ourselves, I'll be very confident heading to Old Trafford.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

we just don't seem to beat Chelsea. They're well setup to play against us, just one of those things. Bit like Liverpool. Not saying either team is better, but both are well prepared to counter the players we have.

I'm actually pretty worried we're going to get spanked tonight. I'm 100% sure that Torres is going to score. In fact, I'm going to go put a fiver on it :)

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Just seen the teamsheets. If United are genuinely playing with only one recognized central midfielder - AGAINST CHELSEA - than I have no idea what Fergie's playing at. Truly bizarre.

Nice pass by Carrick to Giggs. Man, Torres just really doesn't seem to play like a world class strikes every time I see him in a Chelsea top.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

lol clear penalty the foul on Ramires.. or do all referees have other rules for United...?

I was going to ask why a Liverpool fan is instantly posting to the United forum, but then I remembered it's a Champions League night :p

Yep, definite pen. Just like the one they got in the league wasn't a pen. Or the one in the semi against Arsenal wasn't a pen, when Fletch then missed the final.

Oh wait, those are decision against United so they don't count right? Or...it could be decisions balancing themselves out...?

Also, no one will mention it but Torres should have been booked for a dive in the first half, so should have walked for 2 dives. Classy lad.

search this thread and you find not more than maybe 10 posts from me mate...

first before you say something, check the things you say if they are true..

i talk about this particular decision, i don´t know about the others since i don´t watch united matches except when they play LFC ;)

second, i realy don´t care about your club that much honestly, i just think this was penalty and i say this just as neutral would say...i don´t mind you or chelsea win tonight.. as i follow LFC..i just can´t figure it out what rules work for United and what for other non-united teams lol..

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

And every Man Utd fan will say it's a penalty, it's just a refereeing error, we've had enough go against us at Chelsea, so it's hardly one rule for us.

I'm joking of course, we paid the ref off weeks ago.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

About fucking time we got a refereeing decision in our favour against the Chav$.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Very pleased with the result, rode our luck a few times (the clearance off the line, and the penalty decision), but we were good for the win. Was nice to have a full strength back four, even if they didn't last the game :P

Pleased to say Carrick had a good game, even dared move with the ball on occasion, our midfield is often too static and we suffer from it. Rooney scores and you just knew he would after this week.

Hehe, sorry I was teasing a bit - realise that gets missed in the ole internet thing. I've watched quite a few Pool games in Europe this year too. Just love teh football tbh.

Definite pen. No denying it whatsoever. Pity in a way, cause the ref had been alright til then, and it wasn't a talking point. Now the ABU crew will be out in force.

Do you realy think this, as i think Liverpool games in europe this season were just awfull..especialy away matches...one of worst i seen to be honest..

yeah whatever, i don´t have nothing against United, hope the better will win, just i feel bad becouse of referees bad decision ruine football...as well as in world cup (the goal of Lampard for example) and everywhere...it continues without anyone care about in FIFA or UEFA...

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Feels good to be given a decision against a Chelsea at SB. Now they know how it feels. :D

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Roon's out for FA cup semi final. Real pity, as he's finally finding some form.

And for all those still confused, he is officially the only player to ever be given a ban (2 matches nonetheless) for foul and abusive language. Unprecedented.

One rule for United.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

LOL....................you just started watching footy?

I was more interested watching the Celtic game but had one eye on this, Man U played really well. Terrible decision re: penalty, as blatant as you'll get.

Still in the balance though.

Beachryan - On my post about my little girl, you shouldn't take everything so serious as you seem to be doing on here, it was a joke. I've not even saw/heard it yet, just going on press reports. ;)

i like this :)

massive result last night. carrick's best performance for a couple of years, my man of the match closely followed by vidic and ferdinand.

just read the fa have upheld rooney's ban, crazy. if we win tne league and a cup or two then looking back on the fa's actions will make it all the sweeter for united fans :)

Isn't that the truth. Fair enough, again, missed the tongue in cheek-ness of over the internet!

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Yeah, I don't like the away goals rule one bit, but it is pretty simple! Just think of away goals as being worth 1.01 goals. Then it's easy (and unless a two-legged tie gets to 100 goals, you're sorted!)

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

I don't get why im getting stick, We won 1-0 last night, Chelsea win 2-1 at Old Trafford which leaves the tie 2-2 but Chelsea are through which seems a bit harsh.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Think of it this way: In the event of a draw after 2x 90mins, away goals count as double.

So if Chelsea were to win 2-1 next week, it would effectively be 4-3 to them.

Same if Spurs were to beat Madrid 5-1. The result would be 5-5, but as Madrid had scored 1 away goal (to Spurs' none), it would become 6-5.

Hope that helps?

The away goals rule has existed for donkeys years though. Surprised you are surprised by it. Be it fair or not.

Away goals don't exist in the Playoffs in UK but can't think of many other tournies that scrap the rule.

Where you been hiding since you've been born??? :)

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Extremely pleased with the result. In fact, more pleased with a United result that I have been in a long, long time.

I just didn't expect us to win at all, still fully expected it to follow the pattern of every United-Chelsea match since the dawn of Abramovich, we start well, sometimes grab a goal and then they dominate, but in fairness it was pretty equal.

Bloody nice to see a shocking decision go our way for once at Stamford Bridge. Unbelievably blatant penalty on a Chelsea player, at Stamford Bridge, and it didn't get given? I nearly died and went to heaven. Evra needs to sort himself out though, he's losing it this season.

Anyway annoying I'm confident now about the second leg, and whenever I'm confident about United, it doesn't end well.
