Liverpool Thread

Re: Liverpool Thread(I Just Can't Get Enough!!)

I think the question is also, what can you do with those 16M. Can you buy with 16M a player with the vision, the creativity of Aquilani ? No, 16M is already too low for a player like Aquilani. As Rafa said, when fit he is worth more than 30M.
Anyway, I think this is all speculation and Marotta is just saying that they are not going to buy Aquilani for 16M because he wants us to drop the price. But, if it comes the May 15 and we havent cut the price, then Juve is going to buy him for the agreed amount.

Re: Liverpool Thread(I Just Can't Get Enough!!)

agree, especialy in England, that money some would want for low class players any day..

Re: Liverpool Thread(I Just Can't Get Enough!!)

I agree with everything written above by all.

Most likely Juve are just trying to play hard-ball and will snatch him but IF not, and there's hope, then I hope and think and am confident, Alberto will come back and show people how it's done. ;)

One of the most naturally talented players out there. Just gotta keep him off the treatment tables and on the pitch with CONFIDENCE And Faith shown in him which is something he'll get now I think both from Kenny and the passionate fans who can recognize quality when they see it.

I hope he does come back and does get his 2nd yet (I agree with Gerd) FIRST real chance. He already impressed in the few chances he did get last year due to injuries, etc. His class is easy for all to see.

I'd like him to either come back and show EPL just what he's capable of OR go back to Roma which is and always will be his true club and not remain at Juve.

Re: Liverpool Thread(I Just Can't Get Enough!!)

i had other feelings of Aquilani´s future obviously with Hodgson, when i thought 100% he won´t ever pull reds shirt again...

then Meireles even took his number...

but now, with Kenny saying this:

Kenny Dalglish today suggested Alberto Aquilani could have a key role to play at Anfield next season.

The Italian midfielder has excelled while on a season loan to Juventus, but he is due to return to Melwood in the summer for the start of pre-season training.

"When people talk about next season, I'm surprised they don't give Alberto a mention," said the Liverpool boss. "Everyone seems to have forgotten about him.

"I know he has done really well at Juventus this season. When the loan finishes at the end of the season, he reverts back to being a Liverpool player.

"Nothing is cast in stone and he could be coming back to play for Liverpool. He could be a valuable asset here next season. He's still our player."

Aquilani arrived at Anfield as a replacement for Xabi Alonso in the summer of 2009, but injury problems restricted his Liverpool career to just 13 starts and 13 substitute appearances before he made the switch to Serie A.

"He certainly didn't have the best of luck last season," Dalglish added.

"At times he did really well and at other times he didn't do quite so well but you can say that about most players. What I do know is that he's had a fantastic season at Juventus."

This words can easy bust his morale and maybe make him want to prove something in England..

+ with knowing how we play (pass and move)

he would be more than usefull for us, becouse passing and moving is his best asset.. just hope he could keep his health..

Thank god juve dont want to pay up or we'd prob blow it on charlie adam!*shudders*

Re: Liverpool Thread(I Just Can't Get Enough!!)

Charlie Adam's good and doesn't deserve stick but he's no Aquilani.

Having said that, he'll give a 100% and play 90 mins of 35 league games while Aquaman will play 70 mins of 24 games and give more like 80%, so I actually know who would overall contribute more and which one I'd prefer in my team. Not to mention one is completely at speed and in-tune with the premier league now while the other one's still learning the ropes and will probably take a bit of time.

Alberto is a genius though so let's just hope that genius gets unleashed at Anfield on a regular basis next season!

Re: Liverpool Thread(I Just Can't Get Enough!!)

It's not really hard-ball though (sorry to be pedantic), it's being cheap. They don't have a foot to stand on, he's Liverpool's player and if they don't want to pay the agreed amount then fine. It's Liverpool who need to play hard-ball. I just hope Aquilani doesn't do a Torres and force the clubs hand.

Agree with the Adam element, however the club has enough 100%-ers in the team. It's the little bit of top quality that is missing. I'd rather have an 80%/24game player deliver 30 points then a 100%/35game player delivering 20points.

Personally, best case scenario he is back at Anfield next season. But if he stays at Juventus it would also be a good scenario because it is me italian team, and if he goes to Roma is not going to be the end of the world either, because I like Roma a lot, they are my second team in Italy. But what would be a horrible scenario is if he goes to Milan.

Re: Liverpool Thread(I Just Can't Get Enough!!)

I just hope Aquilani doesn't do a Torres and force the clubs hand.

It matters nothing if he do so, we have signed him for 4 years and we are owning him.. so we don´t sell him under his prize i´m pretty sure..

and if Dalglish want´s him realy back..i think he will be back..

you mean like joe cole and suarez?all this "premiership experience" is jack shit.absolute bollocks if you ask me.players like robbie keane, joe cole have shown you dont need "premiership experience".if youre a good footballer, doesnt really matter where you play as proofed by torres, suarez, david luiz.charlie adam will not be heard of next season and you can quote me on it.always happens with a one season wonder with a struggling team.remember nicky shorey and all that hype?

completely with you on this.rather a talent who can do something special then a rangers reject

Re: Liverpool Thread(I Just Can't Get Enough!!)

I saw Man United rested some of their key players tonight ahead of their big game against Chelsea on Sunday.

Wayne Rooney, Rio Ferdinand and Howard Webb were just some of them.

Skrtel: Fans vital in Euro bid

Martin Skrtel insists the backing of the fans has been key to our revival under Kenny Dalglish.

The defender was delighted to help Liverpool keep a third successive home clean sheet in the 3-0 win over Newcastle at the weekend - and he believes having the supporters 100 per cent behind the team has played a huge part in the Reds climbing into fifth place.

"It was such a great match in front of great fans and I would like to thank them again," he said. "I am very happy with the result and it is much easier to perform when you are backed by such a great crowd.

"I believed in victory from the first minute. We are now very close to our goal which is Europe. We have three games to play and I am sure we can reach our goal with this support."

Skrtel is one of only two Barclays Premier League players to have appeared in every minute of every league game this season, along with Leighton Baines of Everton.

Just to add, he played together 3150 minutes, scored 2 goals, got 7 yellow cards. Also with this two players, there is 3 goalkeepers who didn´t missed any match in PL this season: José Reina (Liverpool), Petr Čech (Chelsea) and Joe Hart (Manchester City).

I agree with you again. I think that premiership experience is for mediocre players. When you are a good player, you are gonna play well in every league

Re: Liverpool Thread(I Just Can't Get Enough!!)

Yeah, except Morientes.
When Rafa brought him his best days were gone. I think that the Morientes of Real Madrid or the first season in Monaco would have been a success here.

Re: Liverpool Thread(I Just Can't Get Enough!!)

A little bit more excitement and belief for late stages of this crazy season..

With City getting beaten today and Spurs on a bad run of late..we still could do 4th...

We could gain a maximum 9 points from the last 3 games.

City aren't looking great - still have the FA Cup final to go and have to play Spurs ...and so do we.

Win on Monday night and we're just 4 points behind..

What do you think?

Re: Liverpool Thread(I Just Can't Get Enough!!)

Honestly I think you have no chance in getting the 4th so do the Spurs, I would love to see Spurs in CL again but I just feel that City is going to win their home fixtures.

Re: Liverpool Thread(I Just Can't Get Enough!!)

Well you never know with City.. i would rather belive untill there is a mathematic posibility..

we simply have to win all 3 games ahead..

Absolutely no chance.

Re: Liverpool Thread(I Just Can't Get Enough!!)

VERY unlikely to get 4th, 5th is a real possibility though. Gutted that Spurs scored today :(

Re: Liverpool Thread(I Just Can't Get Enough!!)

Dad was talking about getting 4th yesterday (before the kickoff). His opinion was that City will very much have their eyes on the FA Cup, and would consider 4th to be save (as everyone else seems to think aswell). But in the meantime would lose a few matches because of it and there would be a good chance they will draw vs Spurs. The Stoke match is very soon after the final, which if they win could lead to quite a few hangovers on the pitch. Then it would be down to the Bolton match.

I think he is being very optimistic.

Re: Liverpool Thread(I Just Can't Get Enough!!)

Europa league is a pointless distraction so I don't get the need for 5th.

Re: Liverpool Thread(I Just Can't Get Enough!!)

no cup should be distraction to LFC
