There's only one manager in world football that would make United supporters jealous (and even that is arguable). And I just cannot fathom him taking over Liverpool.

not saying he will be managing us but we were close to having him before and after his stint at chel$ki.never say never.though i'd rather AVB,a younger,hungrier version(plus he isnt some drunken scottish senile).someone we can possibly build a dynasty with....

I think anyone that doesn't acknowledge Mourinho's prowess is just jealous. I used to seriously dislike him, figuring he just got luck at Porto (no competition, easy run in the CL aided by the worst offside decision I've ever seen) and then Chelsea blew the roof off spending and no one could compete - but what he's done subsequently just shows how good he is. That Inter squad was good, but not treble winning good. As Rafa kindly reminded us this year.

King Kenny has undoubtedly done wonders in the past few months, but surely some moderation has to be used:
1. Played toughest opponents at Anfield
2. Had no distractions other than the league (well he did have that lil Europa distraction, but got rid of that quite quickly)

I'd like him to stay because he genuinely is a positive, good figure in football, which is so rare these days. But if you want to win things, Mourinho is your man.

I wouldn't be at all surprised if Mourinho won the league with Liverpool. Well, I'd be surprised he was there, but you know what I mean

C'mon, it's like you're coming up with anything to knock him down here, pretty desperate. And we've played Chelsea and Arsenal away, coming away with 4 points, not too bad considering both are/were still challenging for the league a few days ago.

If you're going to come up with daft "moderation" like that, you can look at any manager and come up with the same useless facts. It is what it is, Kenny's done so well that our points tally shows us to be one of the top teams in the league since he took over.

This is also with a squad that he largely inherited apart from losing our main striker and having to try and get Suarez to fit into the squad ASAP, then hope that Carroll can get fit and get him into our system as well.

Also look at the amount of players we've had injured. We're having to play kids at full-back because we've been hit to badly.

And this from someone who nearly every non-Liverpool fan said had been out of the game for too long, was only being appointed for sentimental reasons and we were "just doing a Newcastle" and it's only going to end in failure like Kevin Keegan did.

All in all, in moderation, he's done far better than anyone could've expected. He's not even still living off the buzz of his arrival, we've lost games to lesser teams but he's pulled us back up and got us winning again. It was only four months ago we were looking at relegation!

I have all respect for Ferguson but pre 2003 i think...

To Mourinho, he is undobutly great coach..but i just can´t see him move to Liverpool and make us a dynasty again.. we don´t need just to win a thing or two, like Inter or Real...they are always in top 3 in their league...we need to build something long term, something Rafa tryed.. we need to get this club back to top, build new stadium or fix the current one.. i don´t think Mourinho see himself next 15 years at one club..especialy not managing a national team, wich could be a dream for him who knows..?

Talking about coaches, today Portuguese media are saying John W. Henry wants André Villas-Boas in the Summer. It's been said that Liverpool is trying to persuade André to sign with the reds despite the interest of Inter Milan and AS Roma. There is just a slim problem regarding AVB transfer. Some sources guaranteed that Porto's coach has a release clause of about 15M€ but it's not sure if this info is true or false.

I read a while ago that Porto only gave AVB a new deal to make sure they got a good amount of money when a bigger club comes in for him in the summer, makes sense.

Connor Wickham at Ipswich is another who's signed a new contract recently even though the club are aware he'll probably leave but they're making sure they get as much money from the transfer as possible.

I'm not saying that Kenny hasn't done a great job. But I don't buy into the logic that because he's 3rd in half a season, Liverpool would have been 3rd if he'd been there from the start of the season.

Let him have at it next season, then we can see. That's all.

Some interesting points. I'm really not sure about Dalglish tbh....calm down, let me explain.

He's done a great job imo, has the mentality and balance to easily manage the club. I don't think anything will knock him off his game with what he has been through, both succes and tragedy. Also the players love him, fans love him, even rivals seem to really respect him. He will also bring balance throughout the club with the youngsters knowing him and seeing that he will give them a chance. And I don't think a new manager would give the place a better atmosphere, more likely dissapoint quite a few players.

However, EL was crap. There didn't seem to be much happening in those games and I'm still not sure he has the tactics to adjust mid game, but again the team put out wasn't especially good either. Age is another issue, although being out of the game for some time you could say he hasn't had the daily stress like Ferguson or Wenger so can go for another 10 years anyway.

But at the same time, no-one at the club has had any pressure for the 2nd half of the season. It was written off anyway, so it's been an easy ride.

For some reason I have a nagging doubt that tactically he won't be able to cut it at the very top level of CL football. I would give him another season definitly, and if CL football is reached let him have another season.

But at the same time, if you have a doubt and can gamble on getting one of the "hottest" prospects in world football should you give up the chance?

Villa Boas would want to take Porto into the CL anyway next season.

For now instead of Henry like many an ignorant owner sticking their oar in Dalgish ought to be kept on and rebuild the ethos of the club.

I say it this way, Kenny even before he was appointed was in the club structure, if he thinks he could not make it, then fine, get us other manager, but even if the club has something going on with new managers and Kenny say he want to stay, there is no reason for our owners not to give him contract..I belive Kenny want´s best for Liverpol.. i´m sure he was thinking he is better or could do better than Hodgson...and if he thinks he wan´t to finish something here, he should definetly stay..

the thing about pressure is not that true, we still had a good chance to fight for top4 place since Kenny was appointed..

Pepe gave an interview with Cadena Cope and here's some points of interest from that interview:

Asked when he's going to Manchester(Utd) - "To Manchester? Never. I don't know, it's not my intention...but I imagine it's not their intention either"

He's told that when the De Gea story popped up, Pepe's name surfaced in a list of possible links - "Well, i imagine they've been monitoring and following many keepers, not only De Gea or Pepe Reina but I'd imagine 5, 6 or 7 other options and I don't know if I was one of them but if your information is good then i guess it's possible, i don't know"

very well put together,my sentiments exactly.love kenny but would rather have him in any other role than manager.something like what charlton is doin at united.i'd take avb anytime.sadly standards have dropped amongst fans or rather "standards corrupted"....

not realy, Kenny is a right man to do the job, results (with Roy´s & Rafa´s squad) have been amazing so far. Not to mention he deals with injurys to half of the starting squad atm. Yet he somehow makes us click. He introduced young players to the team, that play amazing so far both Flanagan and Robinson in their teens and both playing like they were pro´s more than that..

Not to mention he is mentor, look what he did with Spearing! Jay Spearing has been world clss in last 3-4 games so far and i never would think i say this sentence..but he´s a starter currently and well deserved..

Risk of ending this major progress of adapting youngsters and rebuilding to some abroad manager,yet very good one is not the right way currently in my opinion...

We have to invest and give Kenny the chance to do some chainges and we will see...for myself i never was so confident and full of expectations and belief than currently with Kenny on board.. If our owners don´t appoint him, they must be crazy, giving in what state this club is now in terms of players quality - depth and the results, that have been above my expectations with this squad.

Tik, you have your doubts and among your doubts, there is one about his tactical skills...i understand that. But as a football fan, i shiver thinking about tactical wizards..usually their teams play boring football...
What i saw form Liverpool in the match against Birmingham, was one of the most attractive and best performances by any English team this season. Let this be the benchmark.


Oh and stop complaining about Hodgson, maybe he just wasn't the right coach for Liverpool, but he's doing great with WBA and he behaved very gracefull after WBA's win against Liverpool. Sometimes the man is treated as if he's a vilain in this thread. His period with Liverpool was one prolonged bad day at the office...just forget it and move on.

It's hard to forget Hodgson when it was only a few months ago we were fighting relegation whilst we should've been up the top of the league instead. Again, you have to wonder where Kenny would've taken us if he didn't have to recover us from the awful, awful start that Hodgson gave us.

@ Gerd,

We may not enjoy the boring football served up by tactical wizards, however with the likes of Barca and Real around you need it from time to time. Otherwise you end up with the combined throphy haul of Wenger and Redknapp = 0. The issue with Benitez was that he would do it for every game, when the mid-lowertable teams mostly needed a free attacking Liverpool to win it. For the top teams he would win the match with his tactics.

I get the impression Dalglish is the opposite, he will get the team playing well for most of the season, and can set-up the team for the top English sides, but I'm not sure he will be able to set-up the team to beat Real or Barca. You could argue that if he has succes with the first 2 elements he will lead the team to the league championship anyway so why even consider it.

I don't know, want to see how he does next season anyway so don't want him to leave.

Let Kenny do his business.

Chopping and changing managers which was never the Liverpool way anyway is not a recipe for sucess.

The sucess may not be immediate but it is an encouraging sign that the likes of Flanagan , Robinson and Spearing are being given the chance to adapt not to mention Kelly and Coady before long.

And not to forget the contribution of Steve Clarke as well.

With a few judicious signings I have no doubt Liverpool will be right in the mix next season with Kenny as motivator and less hands on in coaching with Clarke taking that role.

Recently they have played some football which used to be a hallmark of their sides of the eighties.

The spine of the time is nearly there Reina-Gerrard for instance. I am not entirely sold on Carroll technically but he is a good option.

However they do need to find a centreback Cahill perhaps, a creative midfielder of real vision and a real wide man with a genuine brain not one of the current crop of English wingers with pace but little product aside say from Adam Johnson or Young.

get your sarcasm and agree with youre saying.what im trying to get at is lets not be too quick to judge players,managers on a couple of good results whilst forgetting the bad ones.kenny is getting cut alot of slack just because of who he is.you know it,i know it.any other manager and we'll both be wanting to wait till end of season to make a decision,just like our owners are doing.a professional job where sentiments has no place.people are making him out to be god(bless robbie)after a couple of wins when in actual fact that is whats expected of a club like ours.let me ask you this and answer me in all honesty.if roy was still in charge,what would you make of our run?i can tell you for a fact he would have been slaughtered.people need to get used to the idea that he is TEMPORARILY IN CHARGE.we might(will) have someone else in charge next season.steve clarke has been handed a contract.to work with kenny or someone he's worked with in the past?guess we'll see.im hoping the ugly heads of sos doesnt rear again to protest against our owners when that happens...

Torres was still here when Kenny was apointed, and by Rafa squad i mean also Reina, Agger, Skrtel, Aurelio, Lucas, Kuyt, Ngog, Shelvey, Maxi, Kyrgiakos, Wilson and almost whole reserve team.

Man if you are not blind you see we are playing better now, we beat City with squad that everyone predicted we will loose, You can´t compare other youngsters with Flanagan...he playes much better than all you mentioned together, besides Darby played how much? like one match...while Flanagan owns his place third or fourth match in row, from beggining to the end of match.

Mellor was massive talent wasted by injury.

Spearing formed a great parthership with Lucas and they are bossing the midfield. He is great player with great passing and fighting spirit..

Also you can´t say this, what would Roy do or what would we do if Roy was here...Roy at first place was never meant to be here, he was totatly out of place, speaking bullshit in interviews, making fun out of LFC as institution with his words... With Kenny on board not only this particular chainge has been done, there is another coach with him, we improved rapidly in defending, we play as team and don´t forget we have Agger, Gerrard, Johnson, Aurelio, Kelly out with injurys! with very thin squad and players on loan like Konchesky, while Jovanovic and Poulsen are not even on bench..

The problem is, a new manager is ALWAYS a gamble. Regardless of how well Villas-Boas is doing at Porto, there's no guarantee whatsoever that he's going to fit in at Liverpool (or any other club for that matter).

So you've got Kenny who's got us playing good football, the players are united, the fans are behind the team fully again, he'll attract big players due to his stature and he's got plenty of experience.

You get rid of him and bring in AVB or whoever, they don't settle and it doesn't work out. Then you're stuck in a chain of trying to find the right manager when all along we probably had the right one.

Indeed, under Dalglish’s guidance Liverpool have not yet lost a game against the top six sides with the three defeats coming when Roy Hodgson* was still in charge.

And yeah, Liverpool shouldn't lose to some of those teams but then that's being disrespectful to them. All "Big" teams can lose to "lower" teams so ridiculous comment IMO. Looking to get rid of Kenny is another ridiculous comment too.

AVB or Kenny? Kenny every day of the week and twice on Sunday's. Would much prefer a die hard Liverpool man involved than some Johnny Foreigner on a whistle stop tour!
