Liverpool Thread

Re: Liverpool Thread(I Just Can't Get Enough!!)

Comfortable 1st half. Liverpool haven't gotten out of 2nd gear tbh. Hopefully Suarez can get a goal. And Meireles.

Re: Liverpool Thread(I Just Can't Get Enough!!)

that must be the poorest oposite team we played this season...Maxi hattrick hero :)

what an exhibition...could have been 6:0 now..

Re: Liverpool Thread(I Just Can't Get Enough!!)

It's not only the opposition though, I think the team has a good understanding atm and that has given a very solid base for the attackers and midfielders to play in a calm manner. Very few balls are being rushed, or plays being forced. It's all pretty patient.

Re: Liverpool Thread(I Just Can't Get Enough!!)

Was just checking Spurs' upcoming fixtures, of the 5 they still have to play Chelsea, City and Liverpool! I would expect City to keep far enough ahead to not lose a CL spot, and beat Spurs. Although you never know, last season the same things were said and Spurs went on a run of beating Chelsea, City and... Arsenal?

Re: Liverpool Thread(I Just Can't Get Enough!!)

what is great today we had midfield like we should...i like how we play 442, Kuyt does always better as CF, always...if i would be coach he would never start on wing...

Lucas - Spearing again were boss...Flanagan with Robinson getting even more minutes...and deserve to be in first team..

Maxi hattrick from nowhere, great day for him :)

Re: Liverpool Thread(I Just Can't Get Enough!!)

Reports today suggest that we ware after Jeremy Menez. I would be delighted if we could get him. I think he is a fantastic player and could be excellent for us. Not only because his pace and dribbling are great, but, unlike other players that we are linked with as Alexis Sanchez, he can cross.
Plus, he shouldnt even cost that much. He has fallen out with Montella and then some ultras attacked his car.

Re: Liverpool Thread(I Just Can't Get Enough!!)

indeed, good player...i think he could make it in PL.

he´s only 23 ?! lol i thought he is older, get him!

Didn't watch it today so looking forward to MOTD tonight.

Re: Liverpool Thread(I Just Can't Get Enough!!)

Great win today and what a great day for the past it Maxi! lol Hat-trick! Used to really like him back in the day in Espanyol. Unfortunately not the same player anymore, but still useful.

Menez would be great indeed! Apart from his shitty attitude which can be a big problem at times, he's a phenomenal talent! Always has been. And it showed since his debut which I had pleasure of watching at Sochaux a few years ago. I'm so lucky to have watched likes of him and Nasri make debuts (Nasri as 16 year old in OM I remember.. you could tell right away, the kid's special, same with Menez but further forward...)

Him and Perotti are two players, Liverpool should definitely go after this summer given their potential availability, age, talent and potential. Both can be sold for even profit later as they have the potential to double their current price tags! and of course they'll help the team a lot in meanwhile even if they were to be sold later on. Any team could use players like those 2 to be honest and the fact that they're available and probably would be interested in Liverpool give their current situations, is a huge opportunity which must be seized!

Pool should get at least one of them and to be honest you could even do with both. Both will be cheaper than they would normally be because of current situation. Comolli must go after them.

p.s. Luis Suarez yet another player by the way to put a temporary stop to the myth (well not a myth there is truth to it, it's just massively exaggerated) for all those who like to pretend EPL is MASSIVELY different from other leagues and takes SO much adjustment/adaptability to get used to etc. Sure it does and for some players playing in certain leagues (not all), the pace can be challenging at first. for some players, but there are many who've walked into this league and since the very first day done the business and with relative ease and had no problems. Suarez being one of many.

Chieck Tiote is just another one shining from his very first few matches in the league in his debut season. Suarez deserves even more credit coming in half way through the season. New country, new culture, new language, new team-mates/opponents... supposedly very fast paced/physical league as if other leagues are made of midgets and skinny weaklings, etc. All of that.... no problem he said! Real proud of him!

Re: Liverpool Thread(I Just Can't Get Enough!!)

sounds interesting..

Liverpool director of football Damien Comolli to lead the way in bid to refresh the playing staff at Anfield

Liverpool are planning a radical overhaul of their squad this summer with a source at the club revealing that they are planning “up to 22 deals” in and out of the club.

Director of Football Damien Comolli has been working since his appointment to identify priority targets and will receive support from the club’s owners, the Fenway Sports Group, this summer as the club seek to build a squad capable of getting back into the Champions League.
Kenny Dalglish, who is hoping to remain as manager, has spoken of the need to complement the club’s emerging talent with investment and it is understood that Comolli and his scouting team located two or three targets for each position they want to strengthen.
Most of these are aged between 19 and 24 as the club wants to invest in players whose talent can be developed and whose value will increase.
Rennes winger Sylvain Marveaux is expected to be the first signing when the window opens on June 1.
The club are being described as “a long way down the road” to securing the Bosman free transfer of the former France Under-21 international.

Liverpool are looking at further reinforcements in the wide areas, another striker, a left-back and cover at centre back. If enough players can be sold, there could be as many as 11 signings.
As they showed in January, FSG are prepared to reinvest money received in fees into the squad – most of the cash received for Fernando Torres and Ryan Babel was put into signing Andy Carroll and Luis Suarez for £58 million.
Having a high turnover will also allow the club to address the issue of the excessive contracts that were handed out under the previous regime.
With the club’s commercial department landing some impressive deals – a record £25 million-a-year kit deal with Warrior follows a lucrative contract with Standard Chartered as shorts sponsor – and the club freed of servicing the debts that impeded them under Hicks and Gillett, Liverpool will finally be able to compete in the market.

The recent emergence of academy players Jay Spearing, Jack Robinson and John Flanagan means Liverpool can sell their fringe players with the confidence that they will not be left short next season, especially as Raheem Sterling and Conor Coady are also expected to be ready next term.
There will be great emphasis on trying to shift as many of the superfluous players as possible.

The club are working on trying to set up deals for the players out on loan – Paul Konchesky, Alberto Aquilani, Philipp Degen, Nabir El Zhar and Emiliano Insua – while there has also been interest in David Ngog, Sotirios Kyrgiakos and Milan Jovanovic, all of whom are for sale.

Re: Liverpool Thread(I Just Can't Get Enough!!)

So Ngog is up for sale ? I didn't know that.

He has improved this season and looks a half decent player now.

Re: Liverpool Thread(I Just Can't Get Enough!!)

Ngog is not good enough for a club like Liverpool.

Coady is an excellent prospect but Borello has asked Comolli to see if they can get Musacchio.

Pleased for Maxi. He is an intelligent player in his movement off the ball and creating space.

He has created the most chances in the opta stats without them being converted by his team mates. Unsurprising he and Suarez another intelligent player link up well.

Re: Liverpool Thread(I Just Can't Get Enough!!)

Not sure about Ngog tbh. Out of all the players Kenny has given a chance, Ngog has been used the least. But he is a decent 4th choice imo.

Re: Liverpool Thread(I Just Can't Get Enough!!)

good result yesterday.
defiently looking forward to the summer window,
love the way kenny is bringing back the old age
tradition of bringing youngsters in. i know rafa played
a big part in the revamp of the youth set up but was unsure
of him giving players a fair chance.(anderson & hamill good examples)

I think with kenny in charge we'll find the right balance with the squad next
seaso. oh yeah said from when he got here Lucas is boss. As for ngog im a fan
but a loan out to another epl or championship team could do him the world of good.

Re: Liverpool Thread(I Just Can't Get Enough!!)

I have the same opinion for Ngog as TIK, imo we should loan him to a Premier league team to get more time..like United did with Wellbeck for example...

Ngog was not that expensive to be honest..to be world beater now, but he is young and imo he knows to score goals.. just needs more time on pitch..to see if he has space now..

But he´s no 4th choice...we use only one true CF now, that is Andy Carroll... Suarez and Kuyt are barelly used as CF, mostly SS or Wing players, they are not our target mans.. We need an alternative for Carroll but good enough to make difference in game.. We signed an alternative that is Jovanovic, but i think he will play in other club next season.. shame, since i think he is great guy..appears that way to me..

about Maxi, i think Kenny rates him, more than Cole for example..i think Maxi can be very usefull also next season...

anyway an user on Rawk written this..

he usualy is right about the news in club..so we hope...

Re: Liverpool Thread(I Just Can't Get Enough!!)

Aguero? As much as Thommo is known to be worth listening to, I think that's more of his wish list rather than any substance. Would love to be wrong tho.

Re: Liverpool Thread(I Just Can't Get Enough!!)

Enrique is a definite target and Cahill would be an excellent signing.

Kun ? He'd play in a similar role as Suarez preferably off a target man like Carroll.

So that might rule him out anyway having two players of this quality, and it is likely though he will be leaving Atletico Liverpool is not his destination.

I just hope it isn't Chelsea or Manchester City.

Yeah i was also surprised becouse i don´t think that we would need Aguero with Dzudszak and Young...that´s to many wide players considering we have Suarez and Carroll as starters..

Re: Liverpool Thread(I Just Can't Get Enough!!)

Thats a random muppetry list just using guess work.

Re: Liverpool Thread(I Just Can't Get Enough!!)

well except Aguero we have been linked with all those rest new players heavily..and to be honest i can´t see us go after world class stars especialy if we don´t play in CL next season..so this names are not out of place..and i´m sure we have some of them in team next season..

edit: for all this players on the list a move here would be step up. except maybe Aguero, since they play for CL with Atletico, but you can´t compare with the size of LFC with all respect to Atletico..

Re: Liverpool Thread(I Just Can't Get Enough!!)

alot of liverpool fans are going to be very pleasantly surprised this summer,in regards to management, players.the rest are gonna be shocked and jealous.and you can quote me on that.....

Re: Liverpool Thread(I Just Can't Get Enough!!)

Surprised about players AND management? You don't think Kenny's getting the job?

Re: Liverpool Thread(I Just Can't Get Enough!!)

There's only one manager in world football that would make United supporters jealous (and even that is arguable). And I just cannot fathom him taking over Liverpool.

Re: Liverpool Thread(I Just Can't Get Enough!!)

Not Jose,

He isn't a manager to develop a club imo. Discussed this before, but he is great at getting a group of players to work their nuts off for him for about 3,4 seasons. Not sure if he can sustain the development like Ferguson or Wenger. You also see how poor the next manager does, as his succes isn't built on tactics or team development, but psychology.

Re: Liverpool Thread(I Just Can't Get Enough!!)

I wouldn't be happy at all if Jose did take over. Not even close to the kind of character I'd associate with Liverpool and the way we go about things.

In other news:

L'Equipe report Taye Taiwo has signed a three-year deal with AC Milan, turning down both Benfica and Liverpool.

Also Kenny and Comolli were at Blackburn watching Phil Jones last night.

IMO Liverpool played great football against Birmingham. I also think it's not a coïncidence that Caroll was injured...
