Liverpool Thread

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

Agree Dempsey and all would be good/great additions to the squad. However it will be shortterm and will cost a fortune to keep them happy.

That's the strength Utd have had for quiet a few years now, a solid base of squad players that aren't especially great, but they have grown up with the system, mentality and you know what they will offer and they accept being a squad player.

I think Liverpool are in a similar position to Spurs a couple of seasons ago. Liverpool have a solid first team (but need some decent wingers), and some good youngsters but don't have the intermediate of good squad players. Spurs have bought quite a few players the past few seasons that give them that depth. Krankjar is a great example, he has hardly played, but has been called upon the past few weeks and has made the difference.

I wouldn't mind Liverpool buying a few talented 23/24 y.o.'s from midtable teams this season, with a couple of high profile youngsters thrown in.

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

Agree with the arrogance part ( I stopped reading Liverbird's Aquilani posts quite some time ago). However I really don't think Dempsey is a worthwhile target, for the reasons I've mentioned. And it was James that said Liverpool should be aiming to buy these type of midtable players.

But the point is, if you aim for midtable players (which James is saying, and you are partly saying with Dempsey) then the club will become midtable. Adam is a good example, he's having a great season, but many players have done that with a small club. He is still only 25 (which is a good age for CM), but most of us in here were saying, buy him for 4,5/6mil to give him a chance to prove he is good enough.

Actually I never said Liverpool should be aiming for 'mid-table players', and I certainly wouldn't label Dempsey in such a way. You've misconstrued my point somewhat as I was merely replying to Liverbird's view that a player like Dempsey isn't worthy of his club. Well for the time being Dempsey very much is worthy of Liverpool.

Suarez is a very, very good acquisition for Liverpool and a great coup for a team that most likely wont be in the Champions League for another season at least. Carroll is a very expensive gamble who's had one good year in the Championship, but his price tag belies a player with much still to prove at Premier League level. He's a good finisher, but otherwise limited player that relies on good service, especially crosses to make his mark, so Liverpool need more width in their side to get the best out of him. This is where Dempsey would add value to the team.

But enough about Dempsey, I'll shut up now.

Wow, that's the first time Ive heard that. Im sorry if some of my posts have sound arrogant, it wasnt my intention. Im in a lot of forums and it is the first time Ive heard it, but this is the only english forum in which I have an active participation. The fact that Im from Argentina and not from a country in which the natural language is english, doesnt help me. I think that sometimes I may be using expressions that are arrogant due to ignorance, not because I want to.
So, sorry if you guys have felt that I made arrogant comments. It wasnt my intention.

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

Yes thanks, when you are not a native speaker, sometimes it is not easy to make clear what you want to say.
From which part of Belgica are you from ?

Forgot to congratulate you with the new world record Gerd. Sorry about that ;)

You lot should just join The Netherlands and the poorer half can be given to France. From what we hear over here it's the Northern part that makes all the money (Antwerpen) and has to subsidise the South.

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

I wonder what's happened to our search for a new chief executive. Seems to have gone very quiet on that front, maybe the person they want isn't available until the summer?

That is only part of the story. Fifty years ago the south (Liège) was making all the money.
IMO it's a very sad world record, but thanks anyway...

On topic: please beat Man Utd...i want Arsenal to become champions (and that for a Spurs fan...).

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

The first move from the owners that has/will be greeted with concern and anger. They're planning to revamp the season ticket waiting list and will be writing to the first 25,000 people who applied to ask if they still want to be on the list.

And if you do, you need to pay a £5 "admin" fee. A bit unfair on the fans when the club made such a mess of the list but then ask the fans to foot the bill for fixing it up.

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

Yep,

Will p!$$ a lot of people off. But it was always going to happen, they are just following Utd's lead in that regard. And we all know that when the dust settle's the majority will have paid.

I hope Carrol can play some decent part (30min) on Sunday, would fancy him to be a handfull for Smaling and O'Shea.

tbh i think it's a good idea, £5 is nothing really when you consider the price the season ticket costs, and it trims away all the bellends who are on the list just for the sake of being on it. This has needed to be done for a while now, there's apparently 75,000 on the list, but how many of them would actually buy a ticket if they were offered it tomorrow? That's why they're scrapping it and starting it from scratch properly.

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

We need to step up our play and play in different lineup and with different tactics than against WHU.

We usualy tend to be more motivated against the better clubs and play so dull against smaller teams..just like we did against west ham..

anyway i expect us to give everything to win this match..not becouse of United droping points, but becouse we need to win it!

There is no space for excuses now, it´s up to the players and i hope we won´t play like against Sparta and WHU..becouse that was horrible.

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

Kenny'll have them wound up about 19 and so on. Will be a tough game for us. But you've got to go to the likes of Anfield and put in a performance if you want to win the title.

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

Any news on the weather there today? If the weather permits, it'll be a cracking football game. 2 hours and counting!

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

Pretty nice out so far, might be a little cold but the sun's shining :)

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

Ruddy hell - midfield 2 of Scholes and Carrick! That's like a sign saying please attack at will! In Fergie we trust I guess. Hope it's a cracking match not decided by an official!

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

Sorry to ask here, but for a PES Editing reason, do Liverpool still have Radio City on the hanging-down scoreboard in the main stand?

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

great so far, like i predicted..we always play motivated against big clubs and then fu...k it up against the likes of West Ham with all respect to their fans.. if we win today, it will help us, but mostly it will help Arsenal.. we should play like this from start against all teams not just United or Chelsea..

but i´m pleased so far..

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

Someone tell me that Fabio's tackle wasn't as bad, or worse, than Gerrard was sent off for in the last game against United? Unbelievable decision. But then I guess Carra's was bad, although not two-footed like Fabio's (and Gerrard's) was.

On a better note, how good does Suarez look?! Amazing skill throughout the game and he looks like a special player.

:LMAO: at Nani's header back too :D

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

Clearly the better side but that's a horrible tackle on Nani and might fuck up our season.

You guess? Carragher tried to kill Nani, Rafael dodged a terrible Maxi tackle and proceeded to do one as well.

But Rafael did not touch his opponent, while Carragher pretty much fucked up what was a perfectly good match of football. I'd ban him for a few games for that tackle alone.

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

On seeing the replay, that is an awful challenge by Carragher.

Clearly wasn't that injured running over to the ref and having a moan, then going down like he got shot.

Based on the Gerrard sending off, then you have to send off both Carra and Rafael too...
