Liverpool Thread

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

Poulsen was ok.....he is a limited player...
Lucas was injured...who else could have played there?

Gerrard looked rusty...his passes going here and there...

Lucky win....but another clean sheet...barely though...
we need to be a bit more attacking...otherwise better teams will beat us.

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

Poulsen didn't do too badly, looked tired again later on though. He's the new scapegoat.

Completely agree.
The guy was the most important player of a fantastic Sevilla team, he simply can't be a bad player...Before that he was great for Schalke 04. He did have a bad spell for Juventus, maybe he needs match rhytm.

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

Dalglish is so much more balanced in his views...
he praised the players for their fighting display...
but said that we're not happy with 7th place..

All we need is a couple of new faces to add some more
variety in our play....

If we get Suarez it will really lift things for this season.

Warnock and Adam will be good signings too...
Konchesky is on his way back to Fulham...
Jovanovic could be going to Wolfsburg...

What is Joe Cole bringing to our club...he is always on the bench?

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

Yeah Poulson was fine. I think he made a good forward pass aswell to send someone through at one point. Can't remember any terrible bits of play, the only aspect was that he wins nothing in the air and barely puts the other player off when jumping into him.

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

Thought Poulsen did alright last night too. And that's the problem really, I don't think he's ever going to be more than an alright player.

His lack of pace is showing an awful lot in this league whereby he might've done better in less frantic leagues. I heard that he was this destroyer who clattered into people and had a reputation for being a bit dirty ... is this the same player? He's possibly the tamest player in the squad, never looks to get stuck into a tackle.

He can do a decent job, but then so can Spearing. I imagine if we sign Adam, then Lucas will move into the DM role and Poulsen will be sold in the summer. Huge waste of £5m though.

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

Well Dags, then there might be good news for you. According to the Guardian's site (The Rumour Mill) Poulsen is rumoured to be linked with AS Monaco, which is THE European graveyard club of football's rejects: one final tax-free cash-in, in the mediterranean sun.

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

Any fee mentioned?

Not heard a single thing about Lukaku for a while now, strange how it's gone so quiet.

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

It's pretty obvious to me that Lukaku will stay in Belgium at least until june and probably longer.
No fee mentioned about Poulsen, at the moment it's only a rumour.

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

i doubt Poulsen will leave..it´s the only natural DM we have now..only if we manage to buy Adam most probably...

but there is rumours about Konchesky wanting to return to Fulham...

hopefully we buy Suarez this week... :/ the time is almost up soon..

Lukaku is not possible imo.

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

He may be a "natural" but Lucas is as effective, if not more, and Spearing has far more energy to compensate a lack of maturity. He's nothing more then a back-up player imo, so it's a choice of him or Spearing/Shelvey. We all know this season is a right-off so I would rather the club invests playing time in the youngsters and save some money by getting rid of Poulsen and Konchesky.

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

I think Kenny is thinking the same. Martin Kelly has become a regular at RB now and Shelvey has come in in every game under Kenny so far I think? Also seeing the bench is populated with youngsters more as well.

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

Jovanovic has rejected Wolfsburg offer.....

Do Jovanovic and Cole even have a future ?
Shelvey is already ahead of them in the lineup...

Disappointing that we have not been able to sign anyone...
Hope Suarez can make Ajax move closer to the deal...

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

Not really sure about Bundi and Cole, after all the subs have been made when leading a match and Shelvey is a more solid player. Can't see much for them though, Cole can be an impact sub and Bundi is well.....an older Babel

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

Looks like Purslow did put in a release clause in Torres' contract. If a club offers £50m and Torres wants to leave then we have to accept.

Cheers Christian.

In saying that, Torres has said repeatedly this season (and last) that he wants to stay yet the same stories come out and Chelsea keep thinking they can get him half the price of what he's worth. Daft Chelsea.

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

Looks like nonsense to me. I mean had they done this at the beginning of Jan I would have expected him to leave. But the past two weeks have seen a big change in him and the team and club and I would expect him to be positive and atleast stay till the summer.

Oh well, a couple of days to go. Could be a wind-up to show Liverpool how annoying it is when a club offers too little for their player.

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

Convenient bid for Torres considering we play Chelsea next week.

Pretty sure Chelsea knew we wouldn't accept their offer, why would we? We're not short of money, we don't have debts and we have a brighter future than we did in the last transfer window.

In my opinion, if Torres was going to go then he'd have gone last summer.

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

its just chelsea thinking we need the money to get suarez!
offer 80 million then the club might let him go!

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

no player is bigger than the club if torres has come out and said he wants to join chelsea let him, but only for a mega offer the team wants a player who who wants to put on the shirt and play for the club not a player who frequently comes out and says he is interested in a chelsea move if so let him go liverpool can do better

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

i dont know what this all is about, the player himself stated few days ago in LFC TV interview, he want to stay and fight for trophys here...bids for our best players are nothing new every transfer window... and also the club made it clear he is not for sale.. anything else dont matter..

IF he want to go, he can go only if someone will bid 50 + milion pounds...as he has still contract untill 2014 i think..

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

Torres won't leave now I'm almost sure about it , even though I was concerned about his departure during the last summer.

Now its the time for Liverpool to make a serious bid for Suarez cos' we don't have much time left.
Adam looks unlikely to sign with Liverpool considering Blackpool's high demands for the player.
I think Suarez will be more than enough if we manage to get him and with Suarez I can see Liverpool earning themselves an Europa League spot , CL is almost an impossible target this year :S

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

I could imagine Torres wanting to leave after the season and a half that Liverpool have had, but not at the minute with Kenny in charge and him seemingly starting to give a toss again.

Problem is, I could never see him moving to the likes of Chelsea (or City), seems to me he actually cares a bit about your fans. Similarly I couldn't see him moving to Real or Barca 'cause he's an Atletico lad. He'll probably just stay with you until he gets old and Atletico take him back for cheap later on in life.

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

Interesting article on 365, highlighting the fact that Liverpool were the ones that broke the news. Could be a tactical step to show that Chelsea are struggling and don't consider their attack good enough (besides Drogba, who?). Also shows that Chelsea may be getting desperate trying to spend money in jan as in the summer the new rules come in to play. That alone should drive prices up aswell.
