Liverpool Thread

Re: Liverpool Thread

Konchesky has admitted his mistake for the goal Spurs scored and
that he has to up his game compared to how he played at Fulham...

Kudos for his honesty.....wish Roy would come out and say the
same about himself and how managing Liverpool is not the same
as managing Fulham or Halmstadts.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Like I said bro, he just seems like an old senile fool to me.

And even the short-spell he had in charge of Spurs a few years back as care-taker manager, I remember disagreeing with EVERY decision he made tactically and line-up wise, etc.

This of course doesn't mean he doesn't know what he's talking about. He's certainly more qualified than I am so perhaps I'm the fool but yeah it's not often I agree with him on much he says.

Even when he commentates on matches, or the opinions he gives as a supposed analyst.. sometimes you feel he must be watching another game!

Personally, I'm not a fan of this guy then. I wouldn't miss him if he was out of the football world.

Re: Liverpool Thread

You are far from a fool Sina, i have enormous respect for you. Thanks for the answer.

Strangely enough, i don't remember much from the time Pleat was Spurs' manager...to be honest i don't rate Redknapp very high either..but Spurs are doing very well at the moment.

Yesterday evening i had the chance to watch the match integrally on a digital channel: i still think Spurs' victory was deserved, but Liverpool played very well. If they continue to play like this, a CL place is still possible...that would be quite an achievement after a disastrous start of the season.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Sums the season up though Gerd, Redknapp was talking about winning the League and Spurs were only 3 points ahead of Liverpool. Liverpool shot up from 18 to 9th? with 3 wins. Another little run like that could see them back with Spurs and City for 4th.

Re: Liverpool Thread

I thought you were incredibly unlucky against Spurs, and generally played very well for a team away from home at a place where it's not as easy as it used to be to play.

I think Kuyt is a very important player for you, but he faded at the end (fitness I guess). If only Maxi had been able to bury that chance I think you would have walked away with 3 points. The goals you let in were unlucky, Skrtel was faced with a nightmare when trying to cut the cross out from that angle, yet a yard further and I think Reina might have been able to stop it. And the Lennon goal, again it was just that bit of mental tiredness on the part of Konchesky, perhaps if Carragher had been on the pitch he might have mopped it up.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Did'nt get to watch the draw with Steaua....but it seems babel and Jova played well.....Cole was lousy....we were defending very deep and conceded
a soft goal thanks to Reina's mistake....but we qualified to the next
round.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Managed to turn the stream on just as Steau scored...and then turned it off again. Tbh I don't think a lot of blame can go to Reina. 3m infront of him the player looks like he is heading the ball and maybe misses it by a couple of mm. Was more unfortunate imo. Doesn't matter anyway, rather he make his mistakes in the EL.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Good to hear that.....

Interesting to see how Houllier will approach this game....
Villa are not too bad...

I think we will win, but have a feeling a Draw is what we may see.

Re: Liverpool Thread

And who exactly are you going to replace him with?

Actually Rafa would be a good bet if he drags Inter further deeper into the mire.

That would be hilarious.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Guillem Balague in chatting bollox shocker.

What's he been saying now?

And who exactly are you going to replace him with?

Actually Rafa would be a good bet if he drags Inter further deeper into the mire.

That would be hilarious.

The worst thing would be most Liverpool fans would spin it as Rafa's plan all along :DD

Re: Liverpool Thread

Ballague claimed that Pacheco was going to leave Liverpool few weeks ago...

I can't see Hodgson going till the summer......but then again they
quickly hired Commolli without Hodgson even knowing it..
so who knows...

Re: Liverpool Thread

Ballsack is an idiot. I don't know why anybody listens to him. He's less in the know than I am and I don't know any one.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Comolli, though, is adamant that he will take no decisions without the support of Hodgson, who will continue to have the final say in acquisition policy.

"It is about collaboration," he said in the Sunday Telegraph.

"A lot of people ask: who is going to make the final decision? I can guarantee you, 100 per cent, that in this job - especially in England - I have never signed a player without the manager agreeing to it. Never, ever.

"I don't care what people say. And it won't happen here. If you sign a player that the manager doesn't want you are just throwing money into the bin.

"We had a very long meeting last week with Roy about the window. We went through the list and there was one player who Roy said 'This one, I really don't like him, I know him well and I'm not comfortable with him.' So we take him off. It is not issue."

While on the subject of the January transfer window, Comolli has hinted that Liverpool's new owners will be prepared to finance moves for high-profile signings.

The Reds are expected to dip into the New England Sports Ventures' coffers as they attempt to restore themselves among the Premier League elite, and Comolli believes there could be some big names on their way to Merseyside.

"My feeling about it is that in this economic recession there are so many clubs that are in trouble abroad, more than in England," he added.

"These clubs are under enormous pressure to sell. So this January window could be a very different window from what we have seen previously.

"Players that we would never have thought would be available could be. So that's why we are working away, thinking that if there is the right opportunity we should do it. Strange things could happen."

I wonder who/which clubs he is talking about...

Re: Liverpool Thread

No Torres tonight due to his wife going into labour.

Could be a good thing, maybe he could do with a rest? Not too keen on Babel starting instead, although he wasn't too bad against Bucharest I guess.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Very good performance tonight, impressive stuff at times.

I'd be happy if Gerrard comes back and gets put on the bench. Meireles and Lucas are forming a brilliant partnership and I'd much rather see those as our midfield pair.

Very good performance by Babel again, working well with Ngog who's continuing to impress.

Saw this earlier:

For a collective transfer outlay of £9m, Ngog, Maxi, Lucas and Soto, are proving to be more than astute purchases for #LFC

So yeah, a good game with good goals and good play as well. Can't ask for much more there.

Congratulations to Reina as well, now the fastest Liverpool keeper to get to 100 clean sheets in the league :APPLAUD:
