A-ha! Per year is what we're saying now? And you talk about me changing my tune...

Also that analysis includes funds recouped from selling Houlliers players. The 'books' don't seperate them out - it's just a line item total.

Anyway, I apologise, this is ridiculously tedious. He spent more than £10m net. He spent more than £10m net per year.

Jovanovic certainly is a big risk, that free transfer will have put a huge dent in our transfer budget and I've got no idea how we'll make that money back if we decide to sell him.

And the best of all is your argument about Jovanovic. I'm also a free transfer, so Liverpool taking me on as a player is a good thing? Well, i'm available...

Of course, the Pro-Benitez Cult will latch onto that figure and try and tell anyone who listens that Benitez means 10m in total. I actually did wonder how long it would take you to paste that quote. When it doubt, don't debate, post quotes from fellow Liverpool fans. That'll show em!

I give up, really. If you hate Rafa, you hate him. No matter how much evidence is shown, it's never going to be enough. Always rely on a United fan to come in and stir shit up though :LOL:

Anyway, Pellegrini is going to Malaga so looks like he won't be replacing Hodgson anytime soon then.

I take it you've never read Jaimie Kanwar's site then? He's not very supportive as a Liverpool fan and 99% of his site is based around criticising Rafa Benitez. The reason i posted the link and quote is because he is pretty accurate on that point, and he proves Rafa right. Nobody can honestly think his net spend overall was £10m, it would be illogical to think that he meant his net spend after 6 years was £10m, of course he meant per season.

In fact, Benitez didn't even say "with a total net spend of £10m" he said "with £10m net spending..." which can easily be taken to mean per season.

What a buy Roy. Im saying it again, this fucking manager shouldnt even be able to invest 50 pounds. The things he does in the transfer market are unbelievable. In Torino they must be seriously laughing on us, and you know what, we deserve it.

Good result to keep the team ticking over. Didn't see the match so no idea about the performance. But nice to see the young lads in cm play again.

Poor season from Gerrard so far but that was like the season hadn't happened, completely ran the show and looked like a world class player again. Superb half from him.

Yet again though, we're rubbish in the first half and we're either losing or it's 0-0, then we come out and actually play a bit of football and look much better in the second half. I'm sure it's happened in every game this season?

Impressed by Shelvey again, so much composure for his age and looks to have a very bright future.

He just comes across as a very slimy individual.

Henry on the other hand seems like a genuine (if quiet) bloke. Maybe they balance each other out.

Hahah yeah he reminds me of Jon Lovitz too.

And I don't think he's slimy... doesn't give me that impression. Seems a decent enough guy but yah not as 'saint-like' and trustworthy as John Henry who at least seems like a very proper and reliable man.

I'm cautiously excited for Liverpool. I think these guys are the real deal.

I have a question for all Liverpool Fans....Should Hodgson be fired if we lose to Chelsea this sunday on Anfield ??

Sooner the better imo , we were beaten by both Manchester teams and by ... Blackpool , but I think we're building some momentum and hopefully we could continue our winning streak and beat Chelsea. But loosing there would've been a huge setback and I think Hodgson should leave the club(he's not the type of coach that Liverpool needs) , now that we have new owners we should also have a new coach , new buyings and a NEW ERA FOR LIVERPOOL FC YNWA

Yes, he should be sacked even if we somehow win. Not only because tactically he has so far been doing everything wrong, but because this owners wants us an Arsenal type of model. Under this guy you cant do that. He would just buy the Poulsen/Konchesky/Brad Jones type of player.
Has anyone thought that when he is gone, what the hell are we going to do with those three tumors ? Poulsen and Konchesky are in huge salaries for their quality. Nobody is going to want them.

Patience is probably the best way to go, yes yes Roy's not the ideal candidate, but who is at this point of the season?

Get in a new manager? Change all the coaching staff in the middle of the season? Possibly tanking this season because of it? The season hasn't even gone past 1/3 of it so you can't call this one tanked yet. Give him this season and do a proper search and recruitment at the end of the season is the way to go.

Just my take on the whole Rafa net spend argument:

Liverpool and Rafa Benitez failed to compete on all fronts every year because we didnt have a strong enough squad. Our first team was up there with the best of them. But we couldnt cope with injuries and often performed poorly after coming back from Europe to play in the league.

We didnt have a strong enough squad because 1. Big money wasn't made avaliable to make his first choice signings. (Simao, Alves etc) 2. We often had to sell several players to buy just one. 3. Our wage structure and the abillity to sit class players on the bench for the majority of the season, is lower than that of United, Chelsea, City, Arsenal AND Tottenham.

Rafa left us with a fantastic starting eleven, but where he did fail was to bring through young players. Although he did make several purchases of some class young players, he never trusted them enough to give them chances. However, we are left with quite a few youth players that if given the chance will break through.

If we want to compete consistently with the footballing powerhouses, we need to invest in the strength of the squad (2 quality players for each position) and we need to sort of the stadium situation. Don't United make double the match day revenue with the capacity of Old Trafford? City have a bigger capacity, Arsenal, Newcastle, Chelsea slightly less but they have a billionare onboard.

With Rafa we were punching above our weight. Due to how poorly the club has been run on a commercial footing.
