Rafa got well pissed off at the end there.

I think I'd prefer if he just came out and gave us an answer really. As much as it's his decision, it's not really fair to keep us in the dark as we're the ones paying his wages really.

In some ways, that interview looks like he's on his way. But then he says he's still got four years left so who knows!

Re: Liverpool Thread

The anger and bitterness from the United fans is hilarious! :LMAO:

Not that I'm saying it was on purpose, but what are the odds, after the weeks of United fans thinking Liverpool were gonna roll over, and Liverpool fans split between wanting to roll over and not, that Gerrard of all people passes to Drogba? It's pretty incredible if I'm honest. :P

Re: Liverpool Thread

Yeah put it this way, if we'd been playing Everton and Phil Neville passed back for Rooney to score a potentially championship deciding goal most Liverpool fan's heads would simultaneously explode so I think we're dealing with it quite well. :)

It might not be all his decision though really, he said he's going to talk to Broughton next week, so hopefully he'll get the answers he wants and things can be sorted out. If rumours are to be believed then the yanks have told him there'll be no money in the summer for transfers (Despite Hicks's "the january window's not very good, it'll be a huge summer")and he's basically told them to get fucked. But if Martin Broughton follows through with what he said about there being money available then Rafa might stay.

Re: Liverpool Thread

But Broughton is only there to sell the club, nothing more and nothing less. It's Purslow that runs the day-to-day side of the club and he'd be the one sorting out finances.

Broughton can't tell him much apart from whether an investor is likely to buy anytime soon I think.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Fuck me looks like i have missed all the action, nice to see jay is a ray of sunshine :) ffs the mancs should add another scarf to their collection, a blue & white one because they sound like the bitter blues.:BSCARF:

I think Broughton can tell him how much money is left in the club and what's available, as well as the timescale of any takeover.

But he does that every season........:D

@ Abou,

It's been like that the whole year. No fight, no skill, no form.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Not on a WUM at all and not here having a dig, but where do you see yourselves next season?
I've got mates who are season ticket holders for you boys and one of them thinks that's the end of the road for this squad.
This IS Rafa's squad now, Carra's legs have gone, Gerrard looks a shadow of the player he was. You've still got major quality in your squad such as Reina,Masch and Torres but the latter two aren't going to be happy with Europa league football with the likes of Barca sniffing around. It looks likely that without massive investment you have little money to spend on players, so that leaves selling players to raise funds. Who do you think will be sacrificed?

Re: Liverpool Thread

Too early to say NSH. It all depends if we get new owners, how soon they come in, how much they give the manager to spend, and of course which the manager is.

Nobody can predict what might happen, way too many variables.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Just a thought lads,if rafa is going in the summer,i think hiddink would be a good replacement, anybody know what hiddinks work commitments are at the mo?

Re: Liverpool Thread

@ NSH,

Think it all very much depends on how fast new owners can come in and spend money. Assuming that they will, ...they have to!

If it takes too long or it isn't looking likely I think that will determine how many players leave and what calibre manager will come in.

If the situation stays as it is, the top players will leave and no matter what manager comes in, the squad will be crap and I think the team will drop down to mid-table.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Yeah fair play Lami who can't even be arsed watching our match now. Some fan.
Its because I can't watch all the games like you guys do. Don't live in UK and don't have TV subscription and have to rely on the net, which doesn't offer good quality and make my eyes hurt. That is why I couldn't bother.

Apparantly Juventus have now failed to qualify for the CL as well, might sway Rafa's decision a bit.

Oh Thank GOD.

Let Gerrard leave to Chelsea and give his role to Aquilani.

:SMUG:

Really though, when I first got to watch European football back in the early 90's, we had a few games broadcasted from England. Most of the games were sort of boring to me tbh. I've watched a good few teams and most of them did nothing but pass, pass, long ball. Until one day I watched United and it was Schmeichel that caught my eyes. I knew he was a great gk but I had no idea he played for United. Then the style of play was different and creative. Maybe it was all Cantona's doing, but they certainly entertained me.

I also had no idea who was the best back then too. Not much coverage here. And even if I did, United barely had 8 titles back then, almost Everton like. So If I was into this "glory-hunting" I would've certainly picked Liverpool, no? ;)

Re: Liverpool Thread

How do you lot feel bout the Torres to Chelski rumours?

Personally I don't get it, he and Drogba play the same position and while Torres is younger, Drogba had the better season and doesn't look like fading just yet.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Meh........kind of expect everyone to leave at the moment.

There will be loads of rumours going around the coming weeks/months so untill there is an official comment saying they are allowing him to speak to them I'm not going to take much notice.

Re: Liverpool Thread

What's this I hear about Gerrard shagging some 16 year old? Ronnie whelan's daughter or something.

Re: Liverpool Thread

I never liked Gerrard. I hope Liverpool let him go, but keep Raffa.
If Raffa leaves the i'm afraid Liverpool will drop out of the top four for a long time...
Man City, Spurs, Villa and Everton may well surpass you (and now that i mention Everton: Moyes may be a perfect manager for Liverpool, he did a fantastic job with Everton).

It depends which manager comes. I dont think that without Rafa we are going to miss the Champions League for a long time, as you said. This season, with the players he had, Rafa wasnt able to qualify us to the Champions, so why do you think that he is the only one capable of qualifying us in the next years ?
