Liverpool Thread

Re: Liverpool Thread

Yeah thats a good attitude to have, rather than being cautious after getting one or two,but untill/if that happens i think it will be a night of frayed nerves i'm afraid. C'MON.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Very promisiing team, cant wait for the match now knowing that Aquilani-Gerrard partnership is likely to play. Anyway, where did you read that that was probably going to be our team ?

Paul Tomkins twitter account - he's got his ear to the ground as much as any other journo out there, but on a very localised level (i.e Liverpool).

It is VERY attacking but then thinking about it - what else could Rafa do considering the injuries and Maxi's situation?

Play El Zhar? Or Spearing?

Change Babel for Torres, Kuyt for Maxi and we got here our best eleven.
Abou El Zhar, Spearing and company, Rafa is probably resting them for Sunday.

On having confidence his team can get three goals without Fernando Torres if Atletico score one...

It is always easier when you have Torres on the pitch, or players who normally score goals. In this case we have Gerrard and Aquilani, and maybe also Kuyt and Ngog although we don't know yet. Babel can also score goals, so can Yossi and maybe the defenders. I don't see Pepe Reina scoring, but we have people who will score if we attack and create chances.

Brilliant:P

"Ok Dirk, lets try it again. This is how you make a pass"

Could also be dirky saying "Hey akee lad,i've told ya before if ya comin out wiv us later, you'll have to get tidied up la, you wouldnt even get in the Grafton looking like that" then gerrard in the background "Exacklee" :P

Re: Liverpool Thread

rumours are that the team is as follows:

Pepe
Masch - JC - Agger - Glen
SG - Lucas
Dirk - Aquaman - Yossi
Babel

Interesting - certainly has a promise of goals in!

hmm i would swap Dirk to Babel place and start with maxi on right wing..

Babel is useless...

hope he will prove me wrong...

why would masche play on Glen place and no Kyrgiakos instead of Agger who would be on left back?

Spearing is few months on loan now in Leicester..

Maxi remains cup-tied.

I'd say the thinking behind the CB partnership is to counter the pace of Aguero.

Yes, well...that makes my point even more relevant then :COAT:

You know Maxi cant play right ?
I guess, that if this is team we are playing with, there are two options for that choice:
1- Rafa know Aquilani has to play if we want to score some goals so he puts him in the hole. He puts Gerrard back in the midfield and so that Lucas doesnt go to the bench, he puts Masche as a right back.
2- Rafa thinks it is going to be kamikaze to play with 3 CB when the other team has Aguero, who is fucking quick.

Re: Liverpool Thread

i see that is the only reason he dont play now...

i guess for Riera it is over...

and tbh Dirk up front would make more but also his partnership with Babel could produce something..

Masche on RB...well i hope he will not foul Di Maria often or he gets red very soon ...this i fear most..

Agger and Carra know how to play on CB good.. but i will be surprised to see Johnson as LB... i think Gerrard will play more defensive and Aqua i hope he will not fail tonight with Yossi as similar technical player as him..

you are totaly biased on Lucas in negative way...i have not a single point against him in his role... Gerrard playes more defensive becouse Rafa want masche to take care of bigest thread - Di Maria...

he also has proven CB pair AGGER - CARRAGHER to stop Forlan and aguero..

We scored without Aquiliani also...why do you have to say the first point like he was an messiah who will score hattrick tonight.. just be more a fan of whole team not only him...it is ridicilous..

Of course Im a fan of the club and not of the players. But, I have some players that I like more than others. Gerrard, Torres, Aquilani, Mascherano, Reina, Agger, Johnson are some of them.
What I said about Aquilani, Im sorry but that is what I feel. If we want to win these match we got to have players with vision and creativity in the team. And now that Torres is injured, more than ever. Im not saying that Aquilani is the only who can score, what Im saying is that Aquilani make Gerrard play better, just what Xabi did and that is a fact.
I feel that Gerrard in the midfield with Mascherano and Aqua in the free role would always be our best option. In that way, you are playing Alberto in the position he used to play at Rome and Gerrard can come from behind with surprise.

You know Di Maria, doesnt play for Atletico Madrid, do you ?

Re: Liverpool Thread

damn yes sorry i mean Reyes, both Benfica and Atletico have this wingers that could do us problems..

But to tell you, Lucas did well this year and he made many passes to players who then scored..

Lucas is not superstar but in our current situation he is good player..

now who gave the pass to babel?

i am not lucas fan like you think but to give him a bit credit for his stabile performances this season would be apropriate...

Of course he is a good player. But there is a difference between being a good player and being a star. For a team like Liverpool, starts should start and good players be in the bench.

Re: Liverpool Thread

I keep looking at the time expecting ages to have gone and it's only 5 mins each time :(

Just want the match to start now!

Re: Liverpool Thread

That's a good thing! The worst part of the day is the build-up to the game and the waiting.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Crowd sounds in good voice, attacking line-up, backs against the wall and underdogs, I'm hopeful and we can definately get the result tonight.

Re: Liverpool Thread

His workrate as well. He's got shitloads of pace, yet he walks with the ball! Take people on!

Time is flying here, and we haven't really tested De Gea yet...

Re: Liverpool Thread

At least besides Johnson, he's alone; everyone else looks good.

Plenty of time to get the first goal.

Re: Liverpool Thread

That's the thing, our left side is just nulified. Babel looks like he doesn't give a shit even running for loose balls.

Masch is getting a lot of the ball but his crossing isn't great, which is a shame. Could do with Johnson's crossing there.

Edit: WHAT A FINISH!

Re: Liverpool Thread

:SHAKE:

That's me. Not cold though, just anxiety

Good half from us, we're attacking as we need to and putting them under pressure. Not sure how Atletico will approach the second half with it being all square now, do they risk still sitting back and trying for a counter? I reckon they will but I can see us getting a second if they do.

Babel needs a smack around the face from Carragher, he needs to put the fear into Babel that Aguero had when Carra stood over him  Considering this is possibly the biggest game of his career to date, he's shown absoloutely nothing to tell us he's worthy of staying at Liverpool and he's nothing but hype (he'll go and score the winner now... hopefully).

Great save from Reina earlier, the ball could easily have skidded off his gloves. His composure and confidence has been brilliant tonight, legend.

Aquilani, Gerrard and Benayoun have been our better players. All three look really threatening and are getting at their defence.

Bloody hell, I hate football! Worked up all day, anxiety and even now during the match, I'm still fidgeting around and can't concentrate

If we do go out tonight, I'll be proud if we put in a similar performance in the second half and go out fighting.
