Liverpool Thread

Re: Liverpool Thread

Interesting results yesterday.

So who do you hope finishes 4th? I think it might be for the best if Spurs manage it. You know ManCity will be spending in the summer and not being able to offer CL football may be enough to keep them from getting too far ahead. Spurs on the otherhand, with Harry, won't be the same draw for players and tbh I can't see them doing well in Europe either. He doesn't have the tactical skills for it, and disregarding the EL won't do them any favours either imo as they will have no experience in europe as a managementteam.

Guess we will have to cheer on Spurs next week then.....

Re: Liverpool Thread

Spurs is definitely the way to go for you guys, If City get it you won't get back into the top 4 for a while...

Re: Liverpool Thread

Tbh I don't care if we do or do not qualify for the EL. Rather not have the hassle and have more rest for the 1st team. But I would like them win the cup aswell....

Re: Liverpool Thread

Just about to post the same thing. We REALLY need a backup to Torres!

Agreed, ngog is still a player in the making imo,and babel hasnt really impressed lately,i hate to say it but its pretty obvious we are up shit creek! but then again with footy ya never know? @jumbo, Hell! stoke could even beat chelsea, stranger things have happened, but hopefully not,we cant have you lot outdoing us can we by claiming the 19th.;)

Re: Liverpool Thread

Haha surely your players are not so unprofessional they wouldnt try against Chelsea just so we dont win?

Anyway, surely we've outdone you this season already with us finsihing 2nd and you lot finishing 7th? :) ;)

Re: Liverpool Thread

The one good thing is we don't actually have to score to win the EL, just play 3 dire 0-0's and win on penalties. :P

But the season is now very much over, I would even put a bet on that Everton will finish higher.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Quality - maybe Rafa will remember Dirk's original position and play him WITH Ngog UP FRONT now Nando is out?

That's what I'd do on FIFA !

Re: Liverpool Thread

If it were me i'd play Kuyt up front tonight, with Maxi and Babel on the wings, but with Maxi suspended for the Atletico game it's hard to say what Rafa will do.

Re: Liverpool Thread

To be fair to NGog his goals-to-game ratio is decent and I just think it'd be nice for us to play two strikers at home to a relegation threatened team.

Surely the chains can come off again (ala the Portsmouth and Sunderland matches).

Re: Liverpool Thread

Did you watch the match?! :D

God, WH are crap........Liverpool weren't good either imo, hardly created any good chances from open play. Fortunately WH didn't realise that they have to defend corners and crosses.

Surely this would have been a perfect game for Aquilani?! I'm pretty sure he won't be playing on Thursday, same for Babel, so why not play both of them for atleast 30min! Amazing how a 3-0 win can still be so depressing.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Totally agree Tik(x4) - my finger nails have never been as safe watching a Liverpool match!

And all three subs left me vexed.

With each one I was thinking "Aquilani will be on now" for exactly the same reasons as you.

To bring on Degen ahead of him really speaks volumes for Rafa's opinion on the guy.

It's clear to me that he's really peed about AA's perennial pain threshold problem and is either teaching him a lesson for next season or is keeping him away from any possibility of an injury so he can get rid in the summer.

Wouldn't surprise me if he has to miss out on Thursday after suffering from cramp on the combined coach and train journey today/tomorrow!

Re: Liverpool Thread

It does seem like Aquilani not playing is definately not because he isn't good enough. Whether it's his pain threshold or something else, it's shit either way.

Re: Liverpool Thread

I don't see why anyone's bothered about the subs tbh.

The game was already won, there was no need to risk injury to any important players ahead of the ridiculous travel arrangements and the game in Spain on Thursday. It's entirely possible that the reason Aquilani didn't start is because Rafa wanted to keep him fresh for the game on Thursday.

Because there was nothing else to worry about/think about/keep us entertained ;)

There's more chance of me playing than Aquilani so IMO that's not why he didn't get any time.

On that same basis, do you not expect Masch to play on Thursday because he came on for the last 20 mins last night?

It'll be the same back four as last night then Dirk on the right, Babel on the left, Masch and Lucas in the centre and Stevie behind Ngog.

Possibly :P

Re: Liverpool Thread

Aqua should of got a run about, slim chance of getting injured as west ham were miles from the action

it could of possibly built his confidence , having easy touches, time on the ball

There's a huge difference between Mascherano and Aquilani though isn't there? Masch is made of granite while Aquilani is made of glass. Rafa is obviously being cautious with Aquilani and i can't blame him really.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Can Babel play? I thought he would be suspended? That's why I found it strange that he didn't play more min. last night.

And I don't expect Aquilani to play on Thursday, surely there isn't going to be many easier matches for him to get fit and not get injured then against the likes of WH.

I mean if he can't play in semi important matches against midtable/top 6 teams, if he can't play against the top 4 because of defensive duties and if he can't play 30min against no hopers when 3-0 up I can't see the point of him being on the bench warming up for 45min! Then again maybe it's just to keep the other players company during warming up. :D

I think if it weren't for the potential for ill effects after the travel he would have played yesterday, but with the hassle of having to get trains and buses right across Europe i don't think it was worth the risk. If he'd taken a slight knock he wouldn't have time to recover properly because of all the pissing around.

As for Babel, i'm not 100% about the suspension, some players have been given straight reds this season and only had a 1 game suspension, it depends whether it was issued for violent conduct/serious foul play or another reason, i think violent conduct is a 3 match ban but anything else is just 1 match, he's not on the 'Suspension/injury tracker' on the official site, so maybe he is available.

- I just read that UEFA apparently reduced his 2 match ban to a 1 match ban. Probably because putting your hand on a giant ogre's mouth shouldn't really be worth a red card.

Babel is available - as for AA, totally agree TikTikTikTik - it baffles me!

Re: Liverpool Thread

Re: Liverpool Thread

He's like that "superhero" in Unbreakable, the bad guy. :D

I wonder with it becoming a "lads trip" if they manage to send someone on the wrong train as a prank. "Yeah sure Dirk, go have a piss, we'll see you on platform....uuuhh...3!"
