Re: Liverpool Thread

I think he is much much better Turkish super league,he could play every team EPL,La Liga etc.

He is not super pace, speed but he has very tecnique, crossing is fantastic.
Big possible next 10 years he will be legend for Turkey maybe best player ever.

4 years ago he played CL qualify game this is first game at Gala and scored 2 goals. He should goals or asist every game,he realy use his mind.

106 Game 27 goal 44 assist in a league for Gala.
This year 21 game 7 goal 12 asisst.

19 Game 6 goal 8 assist Turkey Cup
This year 6 game 4 goal 4 assist

37 game 5 goal 21 assist Europe(CL-UEFA)
This year 12 game 8 assist

Total this year:

39 game 11 goal 24 assist.

Impressive.
And he is captain this year only 23
Valueble > 20M +

Re: Liverpool Thread

Are there strong rumours in Turkey about him signing for us then?

Re: Liverpool Thread

You won't sign him, he'd cost 20M. The rumours come from him preferring to move to you lot but I can see others coming in and I doubt he'd wait around for you lot to find the pennies behind the sofa.

Re: Liverpool Thread

I dunno what to make of Rafa's plans of NOT PLAYING AQUILANI (again) against Wigan is because the current starters are better at attacking than him .... wtf.

beggining to piss me off big time this.

Will he start again this season?

Re: Liverpool Thread

It's confirmed he's not starting because others are better attackers? That's a valid reason given by Rafa? I'll be shocked if it is.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Lucas is your Fletcher, he'll become a very good player but most outsiders will regard him as crap even when he does.
I wish Lucas was our Fletcher. Fletcher is much better than him both in attack and defense and is threat to the other team with his long shots, Lucas is clearly not.
28 apps / 0 goal / 1 assist
I think that sums up what is his contribution to the team.

Lovely, he can't defend..........and Lucas is better in attack!?

But where is the quote, the one on 365 doesn't mention anything about attack.

We get it, you don't like Lucas ;)

Re: Liverpool Thread

Fletcher was crap when he was young aswell. You can't compare a 22 y.o. with a 28? y.o.

Fletch turned 26 last month, but anyway I agree with you, he wasn't half the player he is now 3 seasons ago and he didn't have to contend with the adaption issues that Lucas does.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Also the fact that when he won the Golden Ball in Brazil he was playing as a 'meia' and now he's being deployed as a more defensive midfielder says to me that Rafa is forcing him to play differently to how he does naturally and he's still learning the role, a bit like Anderson for us.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Said in the style of Fightclub:

First rule of Liverpool Football Club: You have to be able to play as a defender!
Second rule of Liverpool Football Club: You have to be able to play as a defender!

No, it was my conclusion (sorry it wasn't a quote from him), because Rafa says he cannot afford to start Aquilani because they simply cannot lose more points, that is give new-boy Aquilani time to gel with the team.

* Now that I think of it, I sounded like the press making up stories, sorry it wasn't intended that way *

Re: Liverpool Thread

Depressing yet again.

After 60min. I was thinking about turning it off and having a shower. But then I thought, surely they would be able to make atleast one decent chance.........Should have gone for the shower, would have been more entertaining. Did Kirkland actually make a save?!

Re: Liverpool Thread

We're in a real shitty situation really.

The players have got no motivation, no drive, no passion, no workrate. And it's up to Rafa to get the players in that frame of mind, and he's not delivered consistently this season.

The players need to wake up and start playing like the players that they're known for, Rafa needs to pick better tactics, play more attacking (no away goals in the last four matches now?) and make common-sense subs.

How do we get out of this mess? I'm not sure sacking Rafa is worthwhile, who else do we bring in? No idea. Will that new guy get any money to improve the squad and make it his own? Very unlikely. Will the new manager be a "Yes man" and the owners puppet? Very likely.

Does Rafa sell off a load of the squad and try to get rid of dead weight and kill the lack of confidence? We're going back to the start of Rafa's 5-year plan then, back to square one.

I'm really not sure what the best thing to do is. Gerrard looks completely disinterested, Carragher has been talking to the press about leaving apparantly, other players like Kuyt, Skrtel, Benayoun, Insua and Riera just haven't performed much at all. Mascherano is probably the only player who can hold his head up and say he's given everything this season, with possibly Reina and Kyrgiakos there as well.

The rest of the squad are good players, we know they are. Whether a new manager is what's needed to give the players a kick up the backside, or whether Rafa can sort this mess out during the summer, who knows.

Rafa was saying in the press that he doesn't want to bring Aquilani into a settled team when each game is so important and we need to keep rhythm etc. Well we're hardly setting the league alight with our performances, so what kind of peformances ARE needed to start Aquilani more often?

I've just got this horrible feeling of uncertainty and not having a clue how we can fix this. We can't even say that we just want the season to finish and move onto next season, because at this stage we don't even know if we'll be in the CL, Europa League or even Europe at all at this rate. We don't know if Rafa will still be with us next season, we don't know if we'll have new owners, and it's more likely than not that our most consistent player this season will be at Barcelona as well.

Not a good time to be a Liverpool supporter and not sure I can see light at the end of the tunnel yet.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Kick Carragher, Gerrard and Dirk out of the team, and give Babel and Aquilani a chance. Just a fucking chance!

Re: Liverpool Thread

Paul Little posted a good analysis of the team (footie365).

TBH I don't even want to watch the team anymore, it's just so mindnumbingly crap and boring. Said it before, but Rafa will have to go imo, you can't replace 20 odd players who have lost confidence in their manager (which it has looked like to me for months now). Buying and selling a couple of players won't do anything, the players can see that it doesn't matter as he has spent 40mil on two players and neither have hardly played. Maxi is a waste of space, he's a bottler and too old to adapt imo. All the while Babel is stuck on the bench......
He doesn't drop players that should be dropped, although Kuyt had a great assist yesterday he was still clueless throughout. And the assist was for Wigan anyway!

There is too much off at the club and it doesn't matter how many players are sold or bought it won't help.

It's too much to ask ONE player to be dropped, all three? NEVER going to happen.

Re: Liverpool Thread

For me the biggest indictment of Rafa is that this is essentially the same team that was leading the league this time last year. Yes, Alonso is a pretty handy player but he is not some all conquering Messiah of football. Every two or three years Wenger sells his 'best' players and still manages to make l'Arse competitive. United got rid of two of their highest scorers and they still challenge.

Part of being a manager is just to instill self belief. I have no doubt that Rafa is tactically brilliant, knows footie stats better than that annoying guy at the pub quiz and has a plan in every match. But he just seems to be lacking that emotional push that, despite their salaries and egos, football players seem to need.

Still, getting rid of him would be very, very stupid. Macherano, Reina and Torres are the only reasons you're in the top 10, and I can't see any of them staying if he goes.

Re: Liverpool Thread

You only need to read the tone of the first few of those 'objective descriptions' to see how the article is going to play out. Rafa is great, done it on a shoestring, overachieved and so forth. His transfer record is better than Fergie, Wenger, anyone else because he had to spend before he bought. And reconstruct a side from nothing, so and so forth.

He spent £230m in 5 years. Reina, Macherano, Torres, Alonso. Maybe Kuyt. Other than Reina none of these players were mysterious no names that he plucked from obscurity.

The best bit is at the end, when the author makes the point that Liverpool can't afford to offer the highest wages in the land - but ignores the point that Rafa has the biggest squad in the PL. Just a thought. Cut off 3 people we've never heard of at 10,000 per week and pay Torres 30k more. Easy solution.

Also worth noting what the league points total is likely to look like at the end of this season, and compare that with previous years.

Anyway, it's kind of like asking Sarah Palin for her views on Fox news.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Where has this myth come from that he’s wasted money on shite players? Have a look through the lists above and try to point them out. There isn’t many.

The ones that haven’t worked out he’s moved on, and not very often has he made a financial loss on them.

Well if they haven't worked out it's mostly because they've been shite signings that you've wasted money on.

I can look down that list and like Beachryan, can only see Reina, Mascherano, Torres, Alonso and Kuyt (though he's a shite player, he's been a great signing) that aren't shite signings.

Fuck the fact some have been sold for profit.
