Liverpool Thread

Re: Liverpool Thread

I think Rafa is a genius. By taking potshots at Fergie at clever times, and by consistently fudging his maths he has the Liverpool faithful eating from the palm of his hand. And long may it continue.

I think he's a very intelligent, very methodical and somewhat successful manager. I also don't think that there are many better managers available to replace him, so keeping him is sensible. But I don't think he's in the top echelon, and I don't really understand why Liverpool fans give him so much love.

I know there's loads of debate about the figures/starting point/so on and so forth, but the fact remains is that he's now had the time and resources to build his own squad, and they still don't quite look good enough. And if not for one signing (Torres) I would argue that he wouldn't even be in his job anymore.

He had a golden opportunity to win the league last year, and wasn't quite up to it. Do you really think as many things will go his way again this season? You'll exceed last year's point total?

Re: Liverpool Thread

Dear god, we're back at it again. Rafa's one of the best manager around, and that's a fact.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Did you know that Man City and Chelsea also wanted the player ? And I dont think he is overworth, thats what cost to bring the best RB in the world.

Did you know that the fact City and Chelsea also wanted him means precisely shit all?

Do you say Real Madrid, Barcelona and all of the European giants after him?

Hell City bought Wayne Bridge for fucks sake, and probably for £20 million as well, what does that tell you? :CONFUSE:

Re: Liverpool Thread

I also doubt Barca, Madrid and the other giants would want Melchiot, O'Shea or Brown too ;)

Funny really, a couple of years ago not many Liverpool fans would've been saying it.

RAFA OUT was all the rage back then. Cue Gerrard scoring a winning goal in a Champions League game (I think) and he's a god again.

"Ohhhhh we always believed in him" they'll say...

Kinda like the Utd fans calling for Ferguson's head not long after he started at Utd then?

Re: Liverpool Thread

I'm sure it wasn't so long ago in the Utd thread here when people were saying Ferguson should just go as well ...

Re: Liverpool Thread

Proof? Although it wouldn't surprise me, too many fans forget that it's a privilege to support Utd but I don't see any of the current gang here on evo-web stooping that low.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Proof? Bloody hell, I'd have to search in the Utd thread for "Ferguson" or something

I'll have a quick look ...

Edit:

This team is going to shi**, Ferguson needs to be replaced, he has been great but a person can't be under control forever....

Things will change once we get a new manager. We need to make changes. And I mean big changes. And theres no better way than to change the manager.

Two I've managed to find, too much hassle putting in keywords and scrolling through tons of posts though

Re: Liverpool Thread

I've definitely never said it. I can think of one person who might have said it over-reacting after a defeat though.

Pretty much, same as between 04/05 and the start of the 06-07 season when we won the square root of fuck all (league cup excluding).

Just like the Arsenal fans for the past couple of years.

Just remarking that it's a funny old game and noone ever has true faith.

Re: Liverpool Thread

The Johnson debate.

Young, English, Hungry

Best right back in the league last season, simples. And hes made a pretty solid start to his Liverpool career.

Re: Liverpool Thread

At least Rafa's got the balls to admit he made a mistake, and sell a player back, now matter how expensive he was.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Not only him. He was raving about Gonzalez, but didn't waste more than a season with him, before he got rid.

Re: Liverpool Thread

So he knows he's got a penchant for signing duds?

Well done Rafa.

Jumbo I dont know why your obsessed with Liverpool. Maybe because recently we seem to be more of a threat to UTD, or your a secret scoucer whos really annoyed that we lost a few games this season.

I mean by the way you draw conclusions your better of contributing to the Man Utd forum or writing for the sun, so your with likeminded inviduals such as yourself mate.

Well done Rafa.

EVERY manager signs duds. And Rafa, like every manager, has also signed some gems, and at incredible prices.

He's one of the very best managers around. If he were to step down, you'd have a long line of the world's top clubs waiting to sign him.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Rafa is going to have 12 m to spend in January. This guys are awsome, instead of giving more money to him in July, they are giving him the money once all the tournaments have already started.
I just hope that we can use that money to buy Alex.
