Liverpool Thread

Re: Liverpool Thread

I'll let what my dad said sum it up for now.

"The defenders are trying to kill each other, Lucas is useless, Kuyt is shite and Gerrard and Torres can't be arsed"

Spurs look up for this, and it's just a shame that they're just not that good otherwise you'd probably be 2 or 3 down the way you're playing.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Guarantee Pool will come back to win this. Spurs should have taken more of their chances, Liverpool will come good. So far they've been wretched, and Benitez is too smart not to sort it out at the half.

When Lucas fouled Lennon right at about 39 minutes, it was the first time I realised he was playing. Anyone else?

Kuyt looks good, Torres hasn't stayed on his feet through a single physical confrontation. Also nice to see Macerano try the age-old-Argie technique of 'if I pretend to be injured, the ref won't card me'. Classy.

So that's what he meant when he said he wanted to replace Ronaldo. :P

Re: Liverpool Thread

I am a bit worried that after two years, Torres is still picking up knocks off tackles that nearly every other footballer wouldn't even notice. The man looks like he's made of wet paper sometimes :(

Re: Liverpool Thread

Considering Skrtel is such a scary monster of a human being it's strange that he gets hurt and injured an awful lot.

Re: Liverpool Thread

How the fuck wasn't that a penalty?

Edit: AND AGAIN! Is Dowd bumming Ekotto or something?

Re: Liverpool Thread

Sammy Lee. :LMAO:

EDIT: Torres can be a right mardy cunt, lashing out at Huddlestone.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Deserved to lose that one. Only in the 2nd half did we play something that resembled football.

Rafa needs to do a lot of work this week. Teaching the players how to pass a ball being one.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Wow, fair play, good on ya for the realism Abishek.

Could spurn you on, be the kick up the ass you need to get going as pre-season was rubbish.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Utter Shite.........

Not to have a go at lucas but doesn't he realise that when the CB's have the ball he doesnt need to mark the f#$king attacker! He's hardly ever free to recieve a pass.

The only decent player was Johnson who was impressive being solid at the back and having a decent game attacking wise.

Re: Liverpool Thread

It says a lot when you're a goal down and you send on a forward to score ... and that forward is Voronin. Can't say it fills me with confidence.

On a plus note, is it just more or is Benayoun becoming a better player with each game? For me, he's one of those players where it lifts you when you see him with the ball and you expect good things from him. He's got to be more involved, he offers us so much in creating opportunities.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Nah, looking at the bench was really shocking. I know we don't have much depth but when you look at the bench and there is only one player that equals or slightly improves the team its poor. Only Benni, the rest are youthplayers or pornst*rs.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Our players still seem to think Xabi is going to turn up 2 yards in front, and recieve the ball. He's not. You need to fucking move, and pass, and then move again.

Looked lost in the first half, though second half was better. I think the first time we managed to get the ball back to front, we won the penalty thanks to Johnson (who was brilliant, defensively as well).

Yossi was great when he was bought on, but the rest of the team didn't seem arsed.

Positives being Reina (WORLD CLASS), Johnson, and Masch, who showed he has decent passing range himself.

Hope Rafa bitchslaps Lucas around, till he learns to man up and not be a pussy. Need a center half I guess, and an attacking player, but we obviously have no money. Here's hoping Aquilani and Agger are back ASAP. Atleast we'd have a couple of proper football players out there.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Gerrard was invisible, Torres spent more time on the ground then on his feet and how Mascherano stayed on the pitch was a mystery.

Only positives were Benayoun and Reina, who stopped it becoming a 3 or 4-1 defeat.

Pretty much.

Yossi needs to start against Stoke. Looked a different team with him on.

Johnson was very good. You'd think he'd be even more dangerous in games where we have more possession.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Incidentally, well done to Spurs really. Despite their fans acting like they'd won the Champions League or something, they played well, created chances and their defence was excellent.

Re: Liverpool Thread

I'm not convinced Rafa made the right decision getting Johnson, he still looks weak sometimes defensively and £17 million was a ridiculous price tag.

If you're going to buy a right back and spend that much money, at least buy someone like Dani Alves who contributes SO much to the attacking side of the team.

He should have kept Arbeloa and spent that money on a winger or a good back-up for Torres.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Arbeloa wanted to go regardless, there's no way he would've stayed. Johnson is a fantastic signing and I haven't been anything but impressed with him since he signed. Already looks a better player both in defence and attack than Arbeloa was.

I wonder how badly hurt Skrtel is? He got well and truly battered around today and didn't look in great shape when he had to come off. I definately feel we need another centre-back.

were shit at doing business - remember owen was sold for 8 mil and Cisse was bought for 14 mil.

But the Johnson deal was a bit different we only payed 10 mil as we wiped off the 7 mil (of 10 mil) pompy owed us for Crouch. Although it was technically 17mil it wasnt all in one go. Johnsons good tho - has lapses in defence at times

Re: Liverpool Thread

You need to change your system. You've got a huge hole in the middle and its called Alonso. Waiting for Aquilani isn't going to help either since he's out till October.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Anyone notice Defoe get out of the way for the 1st goal? I would have deemed that offside, he nearly clipped the ball! Not that it mattered because pool deserved to lose.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Fully expect us to drop a few more points in the next few games. Life without Alonso, it will take time. We didn't need any movement without Alonso, he'd find players in space with a blink of an eye.

Team's got to evolve now, and for the better.

For now though, it's best to move Gerrard deeper. We looked a much better side when we dropped back and was dictating play. Lucas shouldn't be playing that deep anyways. And play Yossi every game.

The injuries don't help either. With Agger, and Aurelio, we've got two genuine playmakers from defense, who can pass the ball through midfield no problem. And obviously Aquilani.

Requires more of a change in style than a change in system. It will come though, Rafa's been preparing 15 months for it, so it will come.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Whats up with you lads with all this negativity? It's game one, still many to go. Put your chin up guys, trust in Rafa.

Oh and that shove on Voronin looks prettty close to a penalty, 50-50 I say.
