Liverpool Thread

Re: Liverpool Thread

It's nearly finished now I think? The match was probably on the Liverpool channel at 8pm (2hr delay) but pretty much finished?

Re: Liverpool Thread

Man Of The Match
You'd like to think that with the staggering sums of money being chucked around for transfers these days, managers would do their research thoroughly.

And it certainly looked that way yesterday, when Rafa Benitez was discussing potential Liverpool new boy Alberto Aquilani.

"I always remember one game - England versus Italy U21s at Wembley, and he was man of the match in a 3-0 win," said Rafa.

Sounds convincing. The only problem with that is England and Italy's Under-21s have played each other once at Wembley. That was the first game at the new stadium - a game that finished 3-3.

We suspect Giampolo Pazzini would be pretty peeved if he didn't get the man of the match award in that one, given that he scored a hat-trick.

And he'd be even more peeved to miss out to Aquilani, given that he didn't play that day.

Good to see Rafa has his thumb on the pulse. Good job he hasn't been given sole charge of Liverpool's transfer policy, eh?

Ah.
If that's true... :LMAO:

Re: Liverpool Thread

What a shame Rafa doesn't remember the result of a match that was played 5 years ago. Sack him.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Im kinda hoping he won't pass the medical and they go for Defour instead. Really can't see him playing more then half the games per season.

Re: Liverpool Thread

apparently we are still after Defour, which may mean Lucas is off to Corinthians, or Mash is off next summer and Rafa wants someone in now to settle.

Distin rumours picking up again. A very decent option in my opinion.

Re: Liverpool Thread

yes but what are the odds she gets homesick and wants to go back to Rome. Plus shes an actress back in Italy.

Get her on Hollyoaks or something :D

Re: Liverpool Thread

Slow down boys, here comes the dreaded MEDICAL !!! :-)

EDIT: I meant he's not ours yet, we'll know if he's really healed that injury of his.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Well if they are gonna add Defour aswell it's great. Not sure if Lucas has shown enough development in 3, 4 years now at Liverpool?, so to replace him with Defour would be really good imo.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Rumours abound that Standard Chartered Bank are going to replace Carlsberg as Liverpool's main sponsor, they rivalled AON in bidding for the sponsorship of Man Utd and so they will be able to meet or better the £15m a year Liverpool are asking for which Carlsberg seemingly can't afford to offer.

I'm a bit sad about it tbh, i've pretty much grown up with Carlsberg on the Liverpool shirt, ok my first couple of kits had Candy on the front but most of my life as an active Liverpool fan has included shirts with Carlsberg on the front. I've grown very fond of their logo on the front and i don't like the logo that Standard Chartered uses, even in white i don't think it'd look as good.

actually...in the process of typing this i thought i'd see what it'd look like and just had a quick go at mocking it up in photoshop, doesn't look too bad in the end, might be ok...

Re: Liverpool Thread

Apparently, some Liverpool bigguns will fly in today to watch Defour play and sit down with the club.....
Word round the campfire is Defour turned down Everton, Arsenal, Fiorentina, Atletico and Werder for L'Pool:CONFUSE:

Re: Liverpool Thread

Strange for Defour to turn down Arsenal. He'd fit in well there, and be guaranteed a starting place (and live in London, that mysteriously wonderful place that continental types tend to value).

I know the other clubs have been mentioned though.

Re: Liverpool Thread

the thing with London is beachryan, it almost is Continental. It just does have more of an appeal than other British cities.

Went for a tour round most of East London earlier in the week, the enclaves of different communities was amazing.

Ghanain, Carribean, Romanian, Polish, Portuguese, Argentinian

i dont think there is a massive beligian community though :)

oh and weve had a 6m bid for Hull's Michael Turner, turned down, they value him at 12m
