Liverpool Thread

Re: Liverpool Thread

known for his creativity and vision. Smallish in build. I'll admit i haven't seen much of him. He was Fellaini midfield partner. Everton wanted both purely on their performance against us!

Aqualani AND Defour? or one of the two.

I'd be happy with either, but still think we need a Silva/Sneijder, a more attacking player who can play anywhere along the line behind Gerrard/Torres

Re: Liverpool Thread

Dunno, but if I were you lot I'd deffo go for Defour over Aquilani.

Re: Liverpool Thread

If we sell Xabi in a good price, we should go for both. We should have like 30m + 10m+ 5 = 45m E

Re: Liverpool Thread

Not enough, I would rather go for Defour actually. Fellaini has shown that they can be a succes in the prem so would rather have a younger, and possible stronger player then one that is already injuryprone and italian. How many players from the SeriaA have been a succes? Zola....

Re: Liverpool Thread

He played 20.

In the last 2 seasons he's played equal to or less than the transfer disaster, super injury prone-treatment room loving hasbeen AKA Michael Owen....

Tik, there's more than just Zola.

Bergkamp and Henry both came from Serie A and there's all the others like Desailly, Veron, Sheva, Crespo, Di Matteo and the legend that is Macheda,.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Christian Poulsen linked now, Sky says we're in pole position for him. Thoughts?

Re: Liverpool Thread

Seems like you're being linked with a variety of differnet types of midfielders so god knows if there's any truth in any of them.

Re: Liverpool Thread

He's a destroyer. Doubt we're in for him.

Would be brilliant, if after all this, Real don't meet our value, and Xabi stays.

Re: Liverpool Thread

I disagree, if I were Xabi I'd be seriously pissed off if that happened. Especially gievn that they're already offering a large wad of cash. I know he seems like a good chap, but it's hard once your head has been turned. It would be unnatural if he wasn't thinking about what life in Madrid (off thepitch) would be like this summer.

Poulsen is pretty good, I thought he might go to Arsenal, but I guess. Not sure how he'd work with Monster Masch though.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Xabi can be pissed off all he likes. If he stays, he'll still have 3 years on his contract, and would have to perform given that it's a World Cup year.

And no, we shouldn't accept any less than our valuation. In fact, he should be pissed off at Madrid for not valuing him enough to pay the cash, given they just spend silly amounts on certain other players.

Re: Liverpool Thread

There's no proof he handed in a request, in fact it looks like he didn't.

@ Abhishek - World Cup year indeed, will be interesting to see if he plays tbh. I'm sure he'll b in the squad, but with Xavi, Iniesta, Fabregas and him all vying for 2 spots (in front of a destroyer, I'd wager) will be weird to see one or two of those names left out.

As for valuation - that only holds true for so long. At some point his desire to leave enters the equation (not to mention the scum, sorry, agents desire for a payday) and it brings the numbers down. Given the amounts that are being talked about, I'd be keen to get this resolved at £28m or so personally...

Of which two are Italian and one never played a serieA match. Not exactly something to fill you with confidence when going for an injuryprone Italian :D And that span of players is more then a decade.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Alonso deal is done.

18.20 Liverpool have confirmed they have reached an agreement with Real Madrid for the sale of Xabi Alonso. The midfielder is set to undergo a medical in Spain tomorrow.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Ah fuck you Xabi, I'm bitter.

30M pounds + add ons, which is decent I guess.
