Liverpool Thread

Re: Liverpool Thread

Daily Mail is rubbish too frangoitia. If you want to read an English newspaper for the football I'd go for The Guardian or The Telegraph, they're less sensationalist and tend to report more based on truth than the others.

Re: Liverpool Thread

i'd suggest The Independant as the only paper worth its salt. The Guardian's ok but a bit forceful about their opinions, The Telegraph can be a bit of a scaremongerer (swine flu and the likes, they take the piss with stories like that)

Re: Liverpool Thread

Looks like Gillett has sold the Montreal Canadians for $500m (or more according to other sources).

Not sure if this is good or bad for us. Interesting that it happens a few days after Moores steps down from the board as well.

Re: Liverpool Thread

"Benitez Fears Torres Chelsea Exit"

Another classic from the rags. So boring this nonsense.

Torres said:
Meanwhile, Liverpool striker Fernando Torres feels that his compatriot Villa will remain in Primera Division, despite reported interest from Chelsea.

"Listen, I think Villa will play in Spain next year," said Torres in the Daily Star.

"It's his decision - but I think Barcelona and Real Madrid are trying to sign him and he will be in Spain.

"I don't think Chelsea's money will tempt him, or United. I think with his abilities and qualities he is better for the Spanish league - he scores over 25 goals every season there.

"I would like him to come to Liverpool of course but I think he is too expensive for us.

"I would prefer it if he played in Spain than signed for Chelsea or United. That's what I'll tell him!"

Yeah, sounds like he's going doesn't it.

Re: Liverpool Thread

the rags are just capatilising on G&H's difficulties to make up stories. Its a 24hour job and they are running out of concrete ideas.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Apparantly you guys have signed a 16 year old kid from Cadiz called Suso. Barca and Real were in for him too.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Attacking midfielder who's supposed to be very similar in style to Fabregas as well.

Re: Liverpool Thread

True though I doubt he'll spend much time with the first team just yet and it'd be no better than being at Barca with Xavi, Iniesta and co around him.

Re: Liverpool Thread

It'll be interesting having Suso and Pacheco coming through our ranks at similar times, promising midfield pair there.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Nope, midfielder who likes to drift into the same position as Gerrard plays. We've also got the likes of Dalla Valle and Nemeth up front so our youth system is looking pretty good (even if it's mostly foreign).

Rumour has it Masch will likely go to Barca but we could be getting Krkic coming out way as part of the deal. Not seen him play much but I know he's rated really highly.

Losing someone as good as Mascherano and only getting Bojan in return (plus some cash I guess) isn't a great deal.

He's been gash this year. Not done anything in the U21 tournament either.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Wouldn't find that a good deal tbh, its not like Benitez has a great record with youth players imo. We need someone who has the quality and experience already and that can be moulded just that bit more to fit the system, I would say a 22/23 year old.

Re: Liverpool Thread

If Masch leaves I'm really going to start questioning the Argies mentality...I mean Heinze wanting to go to Pool, Veron can't hack it, Tevez swaps Manchester colors...seems like they're definitely only short termers.

Losing him would be a disaster, imo. It's his discipline that has allowed Gerrard to be so effective this year. No one can replicate what he does.

And they're all happy to go to rivals. Atleast in our case anyway.

I agree, argentines are very inconsistent in European Leagues. But Masche and Tevez are the exception to that rule. Tevez wanted to negociate and stay at Manchester, but Manchester didint want him till now, and now he s tired because Manchester didnt want to negociate and renew his contract monthes ago. About Masche, Im confident he is going to stay, but if he leaves its for his wife and not for him.

Apologies to discuss on Pool thread, but who knows he might still come to you guys :)

Tevez was told he wouldn't be negotiated with until the end of the season. He was told that last year, he was told that at Xmas. Didn't stop him throwing a strop in the media about it. Yes we played hardball, what did he expect? Us to lavish him with money for his goalscoring ways? He was pretty rubbish last year. I watched every match, and I honestly believe there are 20 other players in the premiership would have gotten more goals with the minutes on the pitch he had (and those teammates). So no Carlos, you're not going to see United rush into the largest contract in UK history.

And then we damn well do offer it to him, and he spends 10 days thinking and decides he can't decide. About what? It's a simple yes/no. Do you like United? Do you like them enough to live on only £110,000 a week, rather than the extra £30k or so City/Chelski will offer? If yes, sign up, if no, then don't.

I agree with you, Tevez was absloutely rubish last season. That's what I tell to all my friends, but no, Tevez here in Argentina is kind of a God.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Jesus Joaquin Fernandez? Anybody ring a bell? Is he a wunderkid at Football Manager? :)

Re: Liverpool Thread

Hmm another youth signing as well.

Rushden and Diamonds youth team striker Aaron King has completed a move to Liverpool for an undisclosed fee.

King, 16, joined the Blue Square Premier side at age 11. He begins a two-year scholarship with Liverpool on 6 July following a successful trial.

Three signings in as many days, this would've took Coco months to get these deals done!
