Liverpool Thread

Re: Liverpool Thread

im also much more worried about chelsea than barca

but it should be a great match, in terms of two tacticians

hiddink will always have a special place in my heart...he better not break it

Re: Liverpool Thread

Lemme just check something:
How many really quick players do you have on your defense? next one: ~
How many will the ref send off until you actually control messis speed and dribbling?
Because from what i have seen from Liverpool, you just have force and tactic and Barça passing doesn't even let the opposing team get closer to the players much less taking the ball away.. and Liverpool not having any1 fast enough and likely to have some1 out after the Chelsea game,....heh... lets look at the facts, examine them, and face the reality. =]

Nuff' said.

Re: Liverpool Thread

You lot seem to play better against the more skillful teams because you're so good at closing teams down and you're very direct. Where you fail is against teams that can either match you physically or just park the bus.

Re: Liverpool Thread

I agree but Messi's taking players on ability is something out of PES. theres really no way to mark the kid this season. go tight and he'll rip through them with his turn of pace and close control or you stand off him and make it easier for him.

You have Chelsea first anyway, I pretty confident you would go through but with Essien back, Drogba back on form. It can either way also Hiddink has had a fair share of Knockout cup games.

Re: Liverpool Thread

I think this year's Liv vs Chelsea will be quite different, and I'm afraid the tide is turning to blue with Hiddink on the help. Not thinking about Barca yet cause.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Exactly. Very, very nervous about Chelsea. Hiddink has got that aura around him.

But we do have the best tactician in Europe.

We'll see, but first of all, Danny Murphy, you fucking legend, you!

Dealt with Messi before.

On the other hand he may not, and messi may well run riot, who knows.

Far too many people on here talk about REAL football matches as if its a match on PES. Yes 99% of the time in PES/FIFA, messi will skin Arebloa all day long and slide one or two in the corner or cut it back for Eto all day long, but real football proves otherwise. If Messi is so brilliant why did Barca get beat by Betis and Athletico? (recently) Are you honestly saying Liverpool aren't able to beat Barcelona over two legs? pfft.

First, Chelsea to worry about. Probably the hardest tie we could have got, particulary with them at the Bridge in the 2nd leg. Essien and Drogba back and on form, and Hiddink can match Benitez tactically. Still think Chelsea have a stronger squad that United, its just not utilised properly.

Now surely we have to beat Aston tomorrow right? Everything is setup perfectly.

Re: Liverpool Thread

BIGGEST, BIGGEST GAME in the league in years. This is fucking huge.

Win this, we go one point within United, and they get extra incentive to beat United next week. And more importantly, it shifts the momentum in our favor.

It is fucking huge.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Fucking huge mate, fucking huge.

And did I mention? Fucking huge.

Barcelona is the best team in the world right now IF the best eleven is fit to play. If Barcelona loosses Messi, Iniesta, Xavi or Etoo, the team lowers down a lot. But first, barcelona has to be fit and have luck to win bayern and liverpool has to beat chelsea. I'm not that confident all that happens, football is quite random sometimes.

But, speculating about a Pool- Barça round, IF Barcelona has everyone fit, I find it difficult for Liverpool to win. I've seen a lot of EPL and Liga matches this season, and while Gerrard, Torres and Mascherano are playing really well, they haven't faced a team like Barcelona before.

Mascherano and all the Liverpool defense overall is good at pressing people and closing spaces, but Barcelona never lets you do this, the ball is constantly moving away from defenders until there is unbalance. And then there's also Alves. You need 3 or 4 defenders to stop Messi and Alves, so the rest of the team find gaps easily. Right now barça is scoring 3 goals average and defending really well. To counter this, Liverpool should play perfect defense for 180 minutes against the most skilled forwards, and while that is perfectly possible, I think you're underestimating Messi anyway. Messi was impressive 2 years ago, but this year he's become something really godly. If he's fit, you CAN'T stop him.

We lost against Espanyol and Atletico because some key players were not fit at all (Messi, Iniesta, Abidal and Puyol) and because of some fishy referee decisions, but since Messi, Iniesta and Etoo were fit again, we have been hammering rivals again.

That said, it would be nice to win Liverpool, as we lost 2 years ago when that barça team was being torn apart by Deco and Ronaldinho and a terrible performance of the keeper at home. Right now, Barça is far better as a team than it was by then.

And lastly... I would love to go to Anfield and see the match!!! I love Anfield (have been there twice and both times we won, even if the last time we got eliminated overall), I love the way football is lived there in your island, so I'm glad our next rival (if we can get past Bayern) would be an English one!

PS: I'm off to watch Liverpool-Aston Villa. Hope you win it and put some pressure on Man Utd, so good luck!!!

Mate, I've seen a lot of Barcelona games. No doubt they're terrific, arguably the best team in Europe at the moment, but there's no team in Europe better than cancelling out teams than us. And you can keep talking about Messi and Eto, but don't you think, Torres-Gerrard can cause problems to your defense (which, let's be honest, isn't the best).

We'll see what happens in CL.

At the moment, we HAVE to win against Villa. It's fucking huge :P
