Liverpool Thread

Re: Liverpool Thread

Do you think Spurs would let both Berbatov and Keane leave? I don't think so, it'll be either, so which one's transfer is more likely?

Keane is almost done according to Liverpool sources.

Think they might let both go, if they can buy replacements quickly enough.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Thought Pacheco looked excellent this evening, a very confident performance and he looks a great prospect.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Shame we can't get a decent look at Nemeth, but he is playing well for the Hungarian U21 team atm, last I heard he scored the winner in their last game in the tournament.

Oh and what a classy finish by Voroninininininininininininininin

Re: Liverpool Thread

The keeper was in no mans land, although the space was created by in cutting players, similar to the first goal where Pacheco (he looks diminutive like Garcia) has the vision to see Lucas cutting in from the outside. Nice finish by both players.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Does anyone know what is happening with leto and his permit. Rafa said that they are waiting to hear when that permit will come through. By when I hope he means it will eventually come

Yeah hopefully he'll get a decent run in the carling cup side.

Plessis looks good aswell decent ball played.

Voronin always looks good in pre-season and against
smaller teams.

PJG Leto played last night.

I guess Rafa was killing two birds with one stone last night,
did anyone see how dressed down he was...?
He probably took the missus out on the town after the game...

Re: Liverpool Thread

According to Elish Scott now, everything is done. Fee, personal details etc. Just waiting for medical, which should be today/tomorrow.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Apparantly this Scott is a good source, so looking good so far :TU:

Re: Liverpool Thread

Didn't know that about the agent, that's interesting.

I'm certainly more inclined to believe it now.

Looking forward to seeing Keane in a red shirt. Nice to see us buying a recognised, proven striker again instead of buying potential. Nothing wrong with buying potential but it's about time we started buying players for now as well.

Well said, completely agree with it ;))

Re: Liverpool Thread

Can't wait for this to go through if its true.

A hefty price tag, but we got a bit for Crouchy, and Keane is proven and still to hit his peak at 28.

Re: Liverpool Thread

I think if Keane goes, Berbatov stays. I'd much rather Keane than Berba too... Berba seems like an annoying moody player!

Keane is almost done, even according to Spurs sources (yeh, I've
been around their forums lately). Berbatov is still not 100%.

I'd take Keane ahead of Berbatov too. Berbatov is the more naturally talented footballer, but Keane is much more hard working, and a much better attitude.

And did anyone watch Nemeth yesterday against Spain? He was amazing! Genuinely hope he can take the 4th choice striker spot ahead of the Voronator.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Keane throws hissy-fits too but when Berba sulks, he SULKS! Very talented but when he's not happy, he's just a spare part.

Bit like Gerrard really.

Nemeth is joint top scorer at the tournament isn't he? Or at least he was.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Is this Nemeth the same Middlesborough Nemeth? Thought he's been around quite a while and surely can't be that young still?

Re: Liverpool Thread

Only thing about Keane though - isn't he similar to Kuyt?

Well, yeh, I see where you're coming from, but he's a big upgrade on him. Think Keane will take his place, and Kuyt will become a squad player.

Re: Liverpool Thread

LIVERPOOL will look to tie up a deal for Robbie Keane in the next 48 hours after Tottenham gave up the struggle to keep their star player at White Hart Lane.

The chances of Rafa Benitez getting his man were boosted significantly last night when Spurs boss Juande Ramos admitted for the first time he is likely to have to cash in on some of his big names in an effort to balance the books.

With boyhood Reds fan Keane desperate to move to Anfield and Benitez equally keen on signing him, the move is likely to happen sooner rather than later given the Liverpool manager's desire to be able to work with his new signings at the earliest possible opportunity.

There is now an acceptance at Tottenham that Keane will get his dream move and yesterday's comments from Ramos were a clear attempt by the manager to prepare the club's fans for the departure of their hero.

Speaking at Spurs' pre-season training camp in Spain, Ramos admitted it was possible that he would have to sell both Keane and Dimitar Berbatov to cover his own outlay on players since taking the White Hart Lane hot seat earlier this year.

He said: "We will see what happens there, but we are talking about two very important players.

"For the moment they are with us, but whatever happens the idea is to have a great squad, with the potential to allow us to aim to improve on what we managed last season.

Everywhere seems to be confirming it now

Re: Liverpool Thread

Aston Villa manager Martin O'Neill is still awaiting a response from Liverpool after holding further talks with Gareth Barry.

Liverpool have spent the summer chasing Barry, but have been unable to agree a fee with Villa for the midfielder.

O'Neill confirmed last week that he had sent his Premier League rivals a letter to outline the club's demands for their captain.

Barry has admitted his desire to join Liverpool, but returned to training with Villa on Wednesday as the situation remained unchanged.
Still waiting

The England international held further talks with O'Neill on Thursday and the Villa boss has confirmed there has been no progress on the matter.

"I've spoken to him this week and he reiterated a desire to join Liverpool," O'Neill told the club's official website.

"So the situation remains unchanged, we're still waiting to hear back from Liverpool."

Barry will miss Villa's Intertoto Cup tie with Danish club Odense BK on Saturday after picking up a foot injury upon his return to training.

Anyone else get the feeling that O'Neill is flapping a bit now? He was moaning about Rafa bringing up Barry in the press, but since Rafa cooled his interest, O'Neill has been in the press constantly this last week saying he expects Liverpool to come back. Sounds like a plea to me, repeating it every day.

Re: Liverpool Thread

After people praising Spurs for the way they've conducted themselves over the Keane deal, they've now gone and reported us and Man Utd for approaching Keane and Berbatov

"Irrespective of the outcome and futures of Robbie and Dimitar, we are continuing to seek to bring in quality, talented players for the future, who want to play in a Spurs shirt."

That quote seems to indicate that they're both going to move on.

Re: Liverpool Thread

the difference btw Rafa and Fergie one blabs and name every player he wants while the other rarely mentions a name . Clearly from 2 different culture to make a judgment call upon, but we should learn to keep quiet and surprise w/ the signing I suppose IMO
