Re: Liverpool Thread

Villa want 18M for Barry?! they are absolutely trying to rinse you lot:w00t:

Re: Liverpool Thread

I said it before unless Barry starts putting some sense to that sc*m, there is no way we're going to pay for Barry at that rate.

Re: Liverpool Thread

First Lee now Pellegrino, Benitez is putting some real stability
to the squad. I think this season(here we go again) Benitez
might actually be serious about the league.

Re: Liverpool Thread

I'd be pleased if we got him, very pleased.

Can't see him being allowed to leave though.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Why do you want a striker like Keane? He's to good for the bench IMO, you already found a system which has Torres on his own?

Re: Liverpool Thread

We're apparently in for Juninho. Would be made up if that goes through.

And if Torres gets injured?

Against lesser teams we can play 4-4-2 with Gerrard dropping back beside Mascherano in midfield.

And Keane can also play in Gerrard's position when Gerrard gets injured, or is rested. And I think he could even play in Dirk's position, but provide more end product. It's about possibilities, no?

And he's a leader, and a boyhood red.

I'd take him in an instant as long as it does not prevent us from getting a winger or two.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Keane is the sort of player who can partner any striker well, he has great vision and teamwork, and a boyhood red of course.

Would be happy if that goes through. Would also piss off my Spurs mates :D

Re: Liverpool Thread

cant see it happening to be honest keane loves spurs with all his heart, the fact he is a child hood red dont mean anything look at gerrard , carragher for example.

anyway spurs want 20 million which imo is about right, liverpool offer 5 million plus crouch, 10 mill plus crouch would be more like it, maybe robbie would fancy a move at this stage of his carreer he is 28 now and just won his 1st trophy with spurs.

Re: Liverpool Thread

So we've made another bid for Barry then, £15m.

If Villa ask for more than that, I'd tell them to do one.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Liverpool midfielder Anthony Le Tallec has joined Le Mans following a series of loan spells with Le Havre, St Etienne, Sunderland and Sochaux.

The 23-year-old spent last season on loan at Le Mans and has signed a four-year deal, with terms of the transfer undisclosed.

 I forgot we still had him on our books!

Yeah I thought so as well since I haven't heard from him for a long long time.

But the thing is, on paper, will Barry be an upgrade from our current starting midfielders?

Reports saying he might be off. They've now got Makoun, Bodmer, Toulalan and Kallstrom. Juninho also didn't feature in any kit promotions for this season, and seems to have rejected the contract they offered him.

Re: Liverpool Thread

If we paid £15m for Barry, then I'm okay with that. I believe Barry is a quality player and he can add something to our team. Like I say, I wouldn't go over £15m though.

Edit:

Gareth Barry has been disciplined and ordered not to report for pre-season training as Liverpool increased their offer for the Aston Villa captain.

Barry, 27, has been punished for giving an unauthorised interview to a Sunday newspaper in which he criticised Villa manager Martin O'Neill.

Done deal then. No way he's going to stay at Villa if they're going to treat him like that I imagine. Only a matter of time now, days even.
