Liverpool Thread

Re: Liverpool Thread

"Liverpool co-owner George Gillett has invited prospective new owners Dubai International Capital to the Champions League semi-final with Chelsea."

Interesting! Is there something still going on behind the scenes? Or is he just trying to piss of Hicks?

Re: Liverpool Thread

Don't give a damn TBH. This whole soap has been going on for months and months and months.

Getting nervous for the Chelsea game. Don't have a good feeling about this.

Re: Liverpool Thread

I'm pretty confident we'll get something tonight rather than not.

The second leg is a different matter though.

Re: Liverpool Thread

I'm not shitting myself half as much as the Arsenal game. I think 1-1, or a Liverpool win. I can't see Chelsea winning. If Liverpool can get 4 past Arsenal and score at the Emirates, they can knock Chelsea out.

Re: Liverpool Thread

I think it'll be 2-1 for Liverpool, I can't see how Chelsea can't score from one of the corners / free kicks. It's our Achilles' heel this season.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Torres must not get too isolated tonight
and babel must impose himself on the game.

It's gonna be tight but a nervous game.

I thoughts exactly. Chelsea will defend deep and dump it long and hope for corners and free kicks to get their goals. We need a early goal then one in the second half to make sure. 2-0 i think with abit of the Champions League Luck.

:lmao:

Could the Echo have used a more dodgier picture?!

Re: Liverpool Thread

Meanwhile, despite speculation, Liverpool have not made any offers for either Aston Villa’s Gareth Barry or Schalke right back Rafinha.

The Reds do have an interest in Barry who could be available in the summer but Rafinha does not feature on Rafa Benitez’s hit list.

Re: Liverpool Thread

LIVERPOOL FC co-owner Tom Hicks is to defy police advice to be at Anfield tonight.

The American businessman was warned it might not be safe for him to attend the Champions League semi-final clash against Chelsea.

Hicks was today flying to Merseyside for the hugely-anticipated game.

But the ECHO can reveal Hicks and George Gillett were urged by Merseyside police not to attend the match.

Due to the ill-feeling against them among Reds fans, fears were expressed about their safety if they arrived at the stadium.

Tom Hicks was understood to be very keen on coming to Anfield and was expected to take his seat on the front row of the director’s box.

The advice was also given to George Gillett, but he is unable to come to Anfield because of other commitments.

A source close to Tom Hicks said: “There was a discussion that was relevant to both Tom and George about the difficulties about them attending.

“But Mr Hicks decided he wanted to be at Anfield and is looking forward to the game.”

i think barry will excel at any champs league team...

would alonso be the one to lose out if he signed??

Re: Liverpool Thread

I think so. Indications this season are that Alonso might well be sacrificed this summer.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Not excited by this game really. probably coz we've played them 10 billion times in the last 4 years.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Really not sure about this match/tie. Not looking forward to it one bit.

We are a better team and they have a far less tactically astute manager this time and we have generally been the better team in this seasons match ups, so we should have a better chance this time. However the 2nd leg being away is really tricky and I cant help but feel that it will be 3rd time lucky for chelsea, even if they did give us the carling cup loss again like 05. A hour to go :(

Re: Liverpool Thread

I don't think Makalele was at fault here, the ball was sliced so awkwardly that even he didn't jump and completely missed the ball, the ball would've ended in Kuyt's path.

But it is oh so important NOT to let Chelsea score. I can't stress that enough.

Yup that's clean mate. Not too much argument there. Pretty clean game so far.

Re: Liverpool Thread

That was a clear foul and should have been a free kick.

I lose count how much Carragher's clumsiness goes unpunished.

I won't play for England anymore because I'm not being picked.. boo hooo

Bothered?
