Liverpool Thread

Re: Liverpool Thread

So other players don't go and complain about a player getting a yellow when the offending player was the last man and it clearly should've been a red card?

Give me a break, you know full well that other players do the same thing. But it's cool to hate on Liverpool and Gerrard so it's alright I guess

Re: Liverpool Thread

When has it ever been cool to hate Gerrard? He's the most protected player in the league when it comes to not mentioning his shortcomings.

Re: Liverpool Thread

 I've given up really, when I said Liverpool last season over achieved and would be back in the hunt for 4th I was apparently on a wind up rather than just seeing it from a neutral point of view:ROLL:

Some of you are so sensitive its unreal, its not even funny to laugh at Liverpool any more just a bit, well sad. We can discuss football without being on a wind up you know even if it means Liverpool and Starfish Steve are seen in a bad light.

Re: Liverpool Thread

About Gerrard's lack of fair play. He is one of the most influential players and he uses that in his advantage and against another player...here on the continent that is seen as a lack of fair-play. In Dutch there is even a very negative experession about it: matennaaier (tiktik wil know that one).

But maybe it's cultural that you don't perceive it as negative as we do.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Understand what you mean Gerd, but tbh every player is a cheat. It's just that some get more protected by the media and others get more hounded by the media. Gerrard and Rooney are both a pair of w@nkers when it comes to fairplay but as they are English it isn't highlighted.

Yet when a young French, or Portuguees forward takes a similar tumble they get harrased for a week and with requests that they get deported! :D

In other news:

Spanish national team coach Vicente del Bosque has urged Fernando Torres to delay his return from injury with Liverpool.

Torres returned to training in midweek following a lay-off with a knee problem and is line to return for the clash with Wigan on March 8.

European Champions Spain are amongst the favourites to take the Word Cup crown in July and the 59-year-old says his country's chances are improved by Torres being kept out of action.

The comments could anger Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez, who has seen his talisman play just 21 times this season.

He has notched 12 goals during an injury ravaged campaign that has seen the club struggle to hold onto the coveted fourth Champions League place.

Torres' recent battle with a groin problem was sustained whilst on international duty with Spain, reigniting the club versus country row that provides the backdrop to national team fixtures.

But del Bosque wants the 25-year-old to play less for the Merseysiders in an attempt to keep him in top condition for this summer's finals in South Africa.

He told the News of the World: "The fewer games Fernando plays for his club, the better it will be for us.

"We want him not to play too many games, to recover completely for the World Cup and have had some rest in between. We'd like him fresh for the tournament.

"That can only be good news for Spain. We hope Liverpool's loss will be our gain.

"Fernando Torres represents a crucial part of our squad."

He's got a f#$kin cheek, hopefully Rafa will respond with some facts (;)) that he has been returned to Liverpool injured about 6 times in two seasons when still recovering and not playing for Liverpool!

Re: Liverpool Thread

I don't blame him to be fair.

The amount of times this year (and last tbh) that we've heard Torres has been playing whilst injured, needing injections and whatnot is shocking really.

I know he's one of the best strikers in the world but if he's injured let him rest.

Re: Liverpool Thread

But that's the whole point, Torres has been returning from injury (having maybe played 20min for pool at the end of a match) yet he get's called up for Spain for some meaningless friendly and has returned injured about 6 times! He can complain all he wants but he is just as guilty, and unlike Spain they don't own him or pay his wages.

But you woulnd't have the same trouble as Utd players are renouned for being injured midweek for an international but playing a full match on the weekend! :P

And that's how it should be imo, f@#k the internationals untill they start paying damages.

Haha I accept our players do it but that's another thing Gerrard does as much as anyone else that you've clearly forgotten about!

Re: Liverpool Thread

Do you want me to send you a poster of Gerrard or something, Jumbo? You talk about him an awful lot considering you're a United fan ;)

Re: Liverpool Thread

I think you're all missing the more pressing issue which is Gerrard consistently flattering to deceive this season.

Which probably explains the resurgence of Starfish, pure desperation more than anything, when instead he should be pulling his finger out considering he's your captain and an important part of your team.

It's easy to blame Rafa but Gerrard should share some of the blame for this season.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Considering you spend a lot of time in this thread, you honestly haven't seen the posts from us saying Gerrard has been underperforming for a couple of seasons now? We've already axknowledged his poor form a number of times.

Well forgive me for not spending enough time in this thread to notice that. ;)

Re: Liverpool Thread

Didn't know the starfish thing, but it seems very appropriate.

Dags, so for a Liverpool fan it's ok to criticize Gerrard and a neutral can't criticize him? I hope you guys will not start like the Man Utd fans in "their" thread: everybody who isn't for us is against us...and to be honest i rather hate the "us"...it's only a football club.

Why do people like me visit the club threads? Well because i love English football and the club threads are the only threads were the latest developments are discussed. I started a Premier League thread, but it is hardly used...so want to discuss English football i have to visit the club threads? Problem is that people who aren't die hard fans are considered intruders...that's the reason why i stopped visiting the Man Utd thread.

For god's sake i'm harmless, because i'm a Spurs fan...who loves Arsenal's football.

Re: Liverpool Thread

@ Gerd,

I think it was more the point that Abou said:

Seeing as we have said it quite a few times already in this thread, even going so far to say that he should get a rest / be put on the bench and let Aquilani play his position as it means the whole team starts playing again.

So it's pretty annoying when a Manu fan comes in here, who seems to spend as much time in here as we do, and tries to tell us what we should be thinking about, whilst at the same time obviously having not read the thread they so often frequent. Gives you the impression that they don't actually come in here to discuss anything and just post shite most of the time, and then try to "balance it" by posting a decent opinion every once in a while (which it is regarding Gerrard).

And you are harmless and a positive part of the thread, atleast you discuss instead of trying to wind people up.

Re: Liverpool Thread

How dare Gerrard ever tell a ref his decision might be wrong. NO other player has ever done that.

Re: Liverpool Thread

I would have thought the fact I haven't read any recent posts about Gerrard underperforming this season would be proof that I don't frequent in this thread, at least recently, but I guess if you want to make silly assumptions to make yourselves feel better then go ahead.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Can't say I didn't smile when I read that news, especially after his stomp on Kyrgiakos which wasn't even remotely punished by the referee. What goes around comes around eh?
