Liverpool Thread

Re: Liverpool Thread

Paper talk, until I see the actual question asked to Benitez, I'm reading that as the press asking if players will be sold in general. Rafa did not say Torres or Gerrard, he's talking in general.

I'd expect United fans to lap up the press stirring up though and read into it what they want to.

In saying that, if ANY club was offered £100m for a player, of course they'd have to consider it.

What if this, what if that. You can tell there's been hardly any football this week and the press need to sell papers somehow.

As Tik says, in real news, I'm pleased we sold Voronin for £2m and are replacing him with Maxi whilst also being £500k better off. Pretty good business I reckon!

Re: Liverpool Thread

It was extracts from the Liverpool Echo where they discussed the debt and said it wasn't up to Rafa to manage it and sort it out.

Re: Liverpool Thread

I know it's something that is said all the time and usually turns out to be bollocks but this time it's actually believable: Maxi Rodriguez was at Liverpool John Lennon Airport at around 13:00 this afternoon.

Re: Liverpool Thread

He said the team in general...But you guys doesnt have a world class Roster...Gerrard and Torres are the main players that make liverpool...
If one of those is gone theres a big probability the other one will go too...They keep talking about selling players, but I think yall need to invest in getting players so you can finish fourth...

Dailymotion - Spirit of Shankly end of season do - a Sports & Extreme video@@AMEPARAM@@http://www.dailymotion.com/swf/x9j5xd@@AMEPARAM@@x9j5xd

Pretty shameful if you ask me, and shows the Spirit of Shankly for what they really are. The guardian piece articulates it better than I can so I'll just let you read that.

I can only imagine the uproar they would cause if it was a video of the United or Everton supporters union singing about Hillsbrough.

Very sad.

Re: Liverpool Thread

tbh mate you're half a year late, that was last summer and we all called them for the cunts that they are. I can't stand the Spirit of Shankly group, but rehashing old news is just a poor attempt at a wind up imo.

Reina, Carragher, Mascherano, Gerrard, Torres. Those are the main players, there isn't just 2.

The fact that you used the word 'roster' means you must automatically be ignored by football fans. :CONFUSE:

Well it was in an article yesterday and I hadn't heard it before so I'm not on a wind up, hadn't heard it mentioned so thought I'd post it on here.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Well every team has their fair share of dickheads.

Every year Liverpool come to OT you get Munich scrawled everywhere in the concourses, and I'd presume it's the same when our fans go to Anfield.

That said, I wouldn'tve expected something named after Shankly would've been like this?

Re: Liverpool Thread

Fact is mate they're a bunch of pseudo-militant yobs who bully and ridicule those who disagree with them.

They use some of the most twisted and stupid arguments you'll ever hear i.e. Shankly's daughter (you know her, the first female football manager to win every trophy? no? she must just have his surname and no actual connections to football then, maybe i was wrong...) said that ShareLFC/Spirit of Shankly's a good thing so it must be because she's Bill Shankly's daughter.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Fair play UJS, you're the first Liverpool fan I've actually seen/heard condemn them for what they are, I've only ever seen or heard stuff about them in a favourable light. I admit I thought they were a fairly good representation of Liverpool fans, their stance on Hicks and Gillett doesn't seem any different to an average Liverpool fan for example and they are supported in this sense, obviously I was wrong. :)

I know that you kind of expect stuff like this between rival fans and if it was a video of a bunch of scouse lads in someones front room singing it, to be honest I wouldn't be that bothered but it's just ridiculously hypocritical for the supporters union to feign outrage so they can have a member of the board removed for using some lets be honest, comically bad language on the basis that they have standards and morals when they go around doing stuff like this!

oh please...a football fan must adapt to the words UK people use?
Your the Ignorant one here...MATE.

Mascherano is already a done deal, he is moving,he confirmed...Carragher is no where near world class at his age...

Key to recovery for liverpool...get someone on that left/right that can produce some scoring opportunity and has some kind of playmaking ability...(Maxi), deep defensive midfielder with Vision... and you guys are safe

Re: Liverpool Thread

My mates brother was on holiday in Spain and he was talking to a guy who fixed a broken fence for Mascherano back in Liverpool. Anyway he said when he was there he overheard Javier talking on the phone to his agent and although he doesn't actually speak Spanish, he got the jist of it and they were basically saying that he was signing for Barca in July as soon as the WC is over.

Mascherano confirmed he's leaving did he? Well that's news to me. Clearly you enjoy talking shite.

Tbh they do have a lot of supporters, but that's largely down to the ignorant masses who get handed leaflets that simply say something like "want the yanks out? then join SOS!".

That end of season party debacle was made worse by the fact that they didn't apologise properly for it. Instead of releasing a statement explaining their actions and apologising, there was a single paragraph posted to their forum which blamed the musician for the whole thing. They basically said he stormed the stage and gave an impromptu performance of offensive songs and they had no control over it and couldn't stop it. Which doesn't explain why most of the members were singing along but they ignored that completely. They didn't answer any questions about why they didn't simply switch the mic off or get security in because they realised they'd been found out.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Babel definitely off? I never understood why you didn't convert him into a CF and make him Torres's backup.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Most definately agree...

Babel is no winger, second striker or any other position... He's got so much potential if he's played as a striker, can never understand how Rafa can't see it...

Wherever Babel goes, if he gets played up top he'll be explosive. He's got a cannon of a shot in both feet, exceptionally quick off the mark, strong and direct. His main problem is it looks like he's not interested in football half the time but maybe he needs a cuddle rather than a cold shoulder type managment.

If Rafa does get to keep the money off Babels sale, I'd try a tempt Spurs with a Defoe bid... Always rated that guy...

Re: Liverpool Thread

There's no way Defoe would cost anything close to £9m though, he'd fetch £20m+ the way he's played this season.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Yeah there's no chance you'd get Defoe, especially at that price.

That statement from Hicks yesterday about a 'big' summer transfer window sounds promising for you lot though. Certainly not as bad as you must have thought.

He's lying though.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Yeah, read it as an overly obvious PR move to try to keep the backlash to a minimum. Read an amusing comment hoping to see a liverpool banner in the crowd tonight saying "blow me". Would be really amusing if they managed to make a really big one. :D
