I want now dammit. (taken from replay for anyone who wants to know)

Few things

* They need to fix the god dam trees they are so poor vegetation as a whole is abit of eyesore mostly though stuff round outskirts of some tracks.
* London i think better graphically then PGR 4 London just tracks not as great.
* Eiger Nordwand is very nice looking track with Suzuka and London probably nicest looking tracks on game.

I hope there is more updates to come in future hopefully more cars/tracks which dont have to pay for. ;))

Re: Gran Turismo 5 (PS3)

Well still going through it nearly completed B-class dam nearly 5am in morning time flys.

Decided to try out drifting mode pretty cool not amazing just standard drift mode but i love drifting around Eiger Nordwand favourite track for this. (Has anyone seen the Suzuki Yellow swift in the video if you have inactivity on menu it goes to video of Suzuki swift in drifting mode made me smile)

Anyway went to a race around Eiger Nordwand with AI set to 46 giving me challenge although only did 2 laps (should of set more) unfortunately there no car selector so if you set AI to 100 it gives you much tougher cars to go against like top spec car. Anyway set tyres to Sports 3 back was going out quite few times and had to fight alot so its back thats for sure its not changed at all. :))

DJ Doc i saved a replay do you have USB pen drive would you be able to do a video of my replay please. ? :))

Re: Gran Turismo 5 (PS3)

I've got some saved replays, how do you convert them?

Re: Gran Turismo 5 (PS3)

OK, hopefully HOME will change that.

Here it is, now of course at time of shooting it WASNT available on PS Store... I know it is now.... This vid may take a little while to come available.

ANOTHER fantastic video DJ. Funny yet informative. :applause:

Same old Gran Turismo by the looks of things. Brilliant graphics & visuals but poor physics. Can't believe the triggers aren't used for accelerating either.

I love the fact that the triggers aren't used for accelerating, and the analogue sticks don't HAVE to be used for turning. I'm far more used to the classic X/d-pad combination.

Plus the fact, the SIXAXIS/DS3 triggers are f**king awful.

Re: Gran Turismo 5 (PS3)

i think the games designed for the steering wheel judging by the videos of the game devs playing with them - and as its far too twitchy with the pad but looks superbly smooth with the wheel.

really shitty that they have basically made the game for the wheel and ignored the twitchy handling on the pad

This is what I said about GTHD, far too sensitive, and people said I was mad and that GT5P wasn't like that.

If you can confirm it is then it's a definite no-purchase for me. GTHD was unplayable with a pad, IMO. The car was all over the place.

Re: Gran Turismo 5 (PS3)

Not true you can perfectly handle the car with pad it already been explained here what DJ Doc was showing in video. There no doubt you will get a better experience from wheel but you can say same for Forza 2 aswell and most racing games the pad is fine imo it just requires smooth control that is all.

My friend uploading a video of my replay very soon AI on 46 going around Eiger Nordwand track which will show how well you can handle the car. (this is with everything off)

You can also map the controls in options im pretty sure you can change everything but all i change is look left and right for D Pad so can look left and right in cockpit view.

Re: Gran Turismo 5 (PS3)

you can handle the cars fine with the pad - but at least in my experience i do stumble into the 'nudge left slightly, it goes left too far, nudge right slightly... goes right too far now and again.

Or the part where on the daytona track - as you're going around the raised turns, you press the left analogue stick left slightly and the car will move either too much or not enough.

BUT ... BUT ... Now 24 hours later, i've started to get more used to the pad and especially on the in car view - i can sense before the car is over steering or under and correct it in time. You can also sense when you lose traction on this view better than the outer views as well. And you can tell when the cars veering slightly off center and correct it before it becomes too much and the 'press left, move left too much' comes in as you panic to straighten up

I think if you haven't bought the game - and if the demo is avail (have they put the demo of this up or just the full game?) play that for a while.

I'd def say it handles better that GT HD and less like cars on ice with bald tires when turning -- i think my problem was with forza 2 they have the weight of the cars down really well so you feel the cars lean over left or right as you turn. But GT i don't think has ever had that weighty feeling and as this is a different game altogether its taken me a while to forget how i play Forza and just play this game on its own merits.

Re: Gran Turismo 5 (PS3)

I use the sticks for steering, its more comfortable than the dpad.

Re: Gran Turismo 5 (PS3)

?

1: You can redefine the pad to whatever layout you want, be it shoulder buttons for accelerate or whatever.

2: The game handles PERFECTLY well with the analogue sticks, if you are constantly Over/UnderSteering, then you need to practise more.

3: The physics on Pro Simulation are great, turn off ALL driving Aids, they Hinder performance imo, just practise a bit more if you are having troubles.

4: The car weighting feel is Perfect for me. Example i can drift the Suzuki Cappucino and The R35 GTR07 all day long, but the feel is so different whilst doing it.

5: If you don't use the cockpit view, and use the externals then you are missing out on some of the joy of this game.

6:Forza 1 + 2 are good games ( I own both ), but they have always, and still do, feel a bit too arcade for me.

7: If you really want to play a TRUE racing simulation, then get GTR2 or RFactor for PC.

Prologue isn't as bad as GTHD. Especially if you don't use the behind the car camera.

Why don't you try the GT5P demo?

Because there isn't one...

I'd love to try it, I'm itching to buy it here. But there is no demo, I checked last night and I checked again a couple of hours ago in-case I'd missed it.

My replay sorry its abit fuzzy friend saying he doing a better one.

But still watchable anyway my car was glued to road zero handling problem a few points where had to fight the car aswell from going out. I made abit of aggresive overtake on the BMW 1 series i might add but i had to take my chance the AI was giving me tough time.

But handling was immaculate through out as you can see this is why i dont see why people say have problem with it but different strokes for different folks and all.

Edit: Better quality version.

From what it looks like there will be no GT5 P demo - so the only answer is grabbing it from someone who had a JPN account and got the demo or the 'other' full game way

Re: Gran Turismo 5 (PS3)

What did you use to cap the video?

You can download it from the Japanese account.

Re: Gran Turismo 5 (PS3)

You can download it from the Japanese account.

it's no longer there - they removed it in december

-

From the video - the white car chasing seemed to react to your car moving around - towards the 2:40 ish mark it swerves to overtake, then ducks back and then out again - so its not stuck to the ai route

Handling looked fantastic - almost ai perfect - is that with the pad?

Re: Gran Turismo 5 (PS3)

What did you use to cap the video?

Friend using USB capture card and then uses a program called U Broadcast to capture the video @ uncompressed frames. Then you use Flash Video Encoder to convert to FLV format for web playback.

That vid looks ace! The AI seems pretty good to me, what difficulty level are you playing with?
