Future Winning Eleven: PS3!!! discuss

Those people who are constantly sticking up for the 360 and getting hyper defensive... Its all about getting the best game - WE11/PES7, and the most superior version, regardless of what system that particular version is on. If the superior version was on xbox im sure everyone would get an xbox.. if its on the ps3 (which is probably the case) why not just get one :) I dont think itll be the EXACT same on both systems (no ports ever are), because i feel one system can do things better than the other hahah, plus has a better controller :)

I have to say that, for Famitsu to say the disc is 19gb+, they would have to take the disc and insert it into a PC with a Bluray drive installed, wouldn't they? Konami wouldn't tell them that information (if they had, you could be sure it would say "OFFICIAL FIRST INFORMATION" all over it and have quotes from Seabass).

And bear in mind that even if it's true, 19gb now doesn't mean it won't shrink dramatically when it's compressed. 19gb is a BIG number - even if you had twice the number of teams (team-data is very, very small) and high-res kits for all of them, it wouldn't amount to that big a change, no way in hell.

If you extracted every single image, soundbyte and all the other files from WE10/PES6, you would have more than 4gb of information, that's for sure (I've got a folder on my hard drive containing something like 20-30% of WE9's extracted graphics plus some of the music - I was working on a patch - and that folder alone totals 4gb). And as somebody else has said, Konami always include data from all of the old versions of WE on the disc, which will increase the size again. So it may well be 19gb before compression, but that doesn't mean anything.

Come to think of it, it doesn't actually mean anything anyway - how good a game is doesn't depend on how much space it uses on a disc, and programming doesn't even take up 100mb, never mind 1gb. Put it like this, the guys who hate FIFA with a passion will say (upon the news that FIFA 08 is however many gigabytes) that it doesn't matter how big a disc EA have, they will never make a good football game out of it. So it really doesn't matter.

Just so you know, I'm not a fanboy of either console, or even of PES. I'm just giving my two cents. It's my personal belief that the PS3 will have the better version of the next WE, simply because it's the lead format, but I believe that the 360 version will be the same with the same data (perhaps excluding graphical effects here and there, which I can live with - although I expect I will be getting a PS3 around Christmas time, when the price drops to £250-£300).

at the end of the day the game is and always has been built around the playstation controller, add to the fact that game always A LOT more copies on the PS format it is no surprise that it looks like the PS3 will get a 'superior' version, i would even go as far to say that 90% of WE/PES players around the world play this beautiful game on a playstation console.

Quick question, how do you guys feel about playing with the new PS3 controller?? I've played PES6 on the PS3
with the new controller and because of the "R + L Triggers" it doesn't play so easily,
try "super cancelling" a run with a trigger that's made for racing games. I will probably play
Winning Eleven 11 with my trusty old PS2 controller, unless they make
some kick ass six-axis controle sheme (which i doubt).

so:

PS3 controller vs. PS2 controller

Which will you be using most likely?

just my personal opinion, but i actually prefer the xbox360 controller to the ps2 one. I find the ps2 analogue sticks too close together.

Specially now that my xbox360 has died i have been playing pes6 on my pc a lot, i still prefer the xbox360 controller.

And although its just my 2 cents. I recon the 18 gb story is utter bollocks. Like someone above said, the only way we would know this was if konami actually said it. And then it would be seen as 'official' news. As no offical news has been released, its just unfounded rumours.

Yes me too, but Vanished play with J.League on the PS3 and says you need just time and it's ok.
or maybe Konami change the config buttons

as my friend ThomasGoal says you just need a little bit of time but its ok now i feel like strange when i play with ps2 controller :p

Same here, when you go back to a PS2/PS3 pad it feels like you have to squidge your thumbs together in uncomfortable positions to be able to move the sticks around, plus it feels incredibly light, which is a very odd feeling. But I suppose if you've not played with a 360 pad you'll be alright!

Or you could get the best of both worlds. Get a madcatz pro (argos 19,99) it has the size and placement of the 360 pad but also has a good d-pad :D

Offtopic: I dont get it..you all play PES with D-Pad?! All of my friends and I play only with analog sticks, I couldnt play on D-pad even if my live depends on it.

i play pes6 with the analogue stick when im using the xbox360 controller, the d pad on xbox 360 pad is pooor.

IMO xbox 360 pad with ps2 dpad on 4tw

Ok, but why would anyone use D-pad for PES/WE?
If you've played the game since the days where was only a D-pad and no such things as analog sticks, you will have used the D-pad from then until now. When you get used to something you don't want to change unless you're forced. It's only because of the 360's utter, utter shit D-pad that I started playing football games with analog sticks. If it wasn't for the 360 I would still be using the D-pad.

Bear in mind that with PES there is no benefit of using the sticks instead of the D-pad, because the D-pad has 8-directions, and the players can only move in 8-directions (there's no 360-degree support in PES yet - if that is ever implemented, that is when you'll have to start using analogs).

I am pretty certain this WONT be any different on PS3 and the sooner people get this into their heads the better....

Dj

I use both sticks and the pad, I always switch to the pad for set pieces etc and even switch in mid play, though I'd have to say I prefer the sticks, though the PS2 pads do stick quite often, though I'm not sure how this would effect play as you're altering direction all the time, I only notice when it goes scroll mad in the menu's, Have a PS£..3 on the way so I hope they are a little more robust!!

i always use the D pad

FRIENDS 2morrow 1.80 firmware update will be available for PS3 users .... it will enable us to play Pro Evo (PS2) in HD !!!!

I am really doubting that news but maybe it's just me, but I don't think Konami would do something like that, would they? To just alienate those with a 360? Because I'll be damned if I'm going to buy a PS3 just for this game. I don't have the cash for that overly expensive console.

I think PES 6 PS2 does not support HD.
Please give us a link where this news had brought...

Well, from the moment analog sticks came, I played football with them. Yeah, no real use of them cause of 8 direction movement, but they are more comfortable than d-pad. I use d-pad in set pieces though.

yeah firmware 1.8 will upscale all PS1/PS2 games so they look less rough on your HD tv as well as media center capabilities.

just wana thank everyone here for your support and praise of the blog. im sure adonis appreciates it too. he's probably crapping himself like me right now!
