Football Manager 2009

I'm going to wait until January/February before I buy the game.
 
Guys just copy your FM08 logos and faces etc over most will still work then just have a look around for updated facepacks.
 
Sadly this game is barely playable for me, it's either a case of this laptop being too shite (22 months old) or there being some secret option to disable / enable to help me play it normally. FM08 ran fine, however 09 is extremely unresponsive. I've tried the game at the lowest resolution, then lowered it more via Properties on the .exe. Level of detail, I've even tried it at Premiership only, with small database. Every click I make to go through the menus is torture, I'm lucky to get a response within 3 seconds. Disabled the 3D mode straightaway (the idea does nothing for me anyway), and I've also deleted soundfiles and extra baggage from Program Files too in hope of a speedier game but no luck.
 
What the fuck? I've started a game, I'm just doing the manager's press conference and they've asked me "Your appointment as boss has come as a shock to a lot of people who traditionally view football as a "man's game". Do you think sexism exists in football?".

I definitely didn't choose female and there wasn't a "camp as a row of tents batty boy" option, so another bug from SI. Great.
 
The 3D match engine in the demo ran great for me when I'd put the settings onto low - in the full game anti-aliasing has disappeared, the pitch textures are really bad (horribly low resolution, blocky and ugly), and it jerks like a bitch.

Anyone else find the 3D engine performing worse than in the demo?

Nope total opposite runs much better now occasional jerk but not as bad as demo. :))
 
It has moments when it runs like shit, but that's only the first 5-10 mins of the match. After that, it runs much better than the demo for me.

Then again i have won 3 and draw 1 in the league so far(demo) and i managed to do what wenger as failed to do so far, beat stoke:WORSHIP::P without van persie and Ade(both injured)

when i first started the game, practicly my whole first team was crocked!

Hi again everyone, unfortunately I am not bearing good news.

We have made some good progress with the Mac patch today and it was almost cleared for release, however a rendering issue has surfaced that we need to nail down and this means resetting our QA tests. We don't want to cause more problems by releasing a patch that has not been tested fully.

The result is that the Mac 9.1.0 Patch will not be made available to you today.

We know you are waiting very patiently and we hope you can continue to do so, we are striving to get this patch done and dusted and out to you as soon as we possibly can.

I've just spent the last eight hours adding logos for all English clubs (yes, every single one, even the non-playable ones), and stadium pictures for all playable clubs (same as the last pack I made except with configuration changes for stadium ID changes here and there). The logos have a slight gradient effect on them so that they match the thousands upon thousands I downloaded last year (some guy put together an amazing pack of logos you couldn't get anywhere, but they all had this gradient effect on them, so since then I've applied that effect to the others I get to make everything match).

I'll put them up for you guys if you're interested, it would be around 50mb, but the thing is a few won't show up unless you fiddle around with the resource tool to get them working (you can find it in the install directory, under "tools"). SI have put a config.xml file into the compressed graphics folder with references to graphics that they haven't actually included in FM09 but were in FM08 (Vauxhall Motors being one example), which means if you try to add them normally they will never appear. The config file in the compressed graphics folder will get priority over everything and will always show a generic logo. Clever...

You'd have to use the resource tool to extract the graphics.fmf file to a temporary directory, delete all of the England folders in a certain path (pictures/logos I think it is) and then click "create new archive", highlighting the "graphics" folder in the temporary directory and clicking "select". Yes, it's a pain in the arse. It's like patching PES for God's sake. But if anyone's interested let me know.



EDIT: HAHA, there's some great bugs in this game. Just spotted THIS ONE over at the SI forums. Class.

Didnt see that in my season but heard its only visual bug dosnt change anything in game.

Just completed first season highs and lows and was very tense went to last day lost title to Arsenal on goal difference gutted. :(

Won Fa Cup though so something to take from season at least and the £7 mill debt a month now got to deal with makes things interesting could potentially go bankrupt if dont do well. City went abit mad on my game spent £112 mill and bought Zhirkov, Hamsik, Jimenez, Marcelo, Enyeama, Angelo Palombo, Bellamy, Diarra, Rodrigo Palacio.

Had to laugh though Bellamy only got 6 sub appearances and only 4 in league.

It took me a couple of minutes to figure out what was wrong with that screenshot Chris...now i wonder if Man Utd never play with twelve players irl...

I'm still playing the demo (when i play FM i play it very, very slow)and the injuries are getting on my nerves a litle bit.
I'm playing with Genoa and all my attackers are injured. I played a couple of matches with youth players upfront but i desperately wanted to buy Ezequiel Lavezzi from Napoli. After 3 or 4 attempts both Napoli and Ezequiel agreed with a transfer. The day after he was transferred Ezequiel played a match an got injured after 4 minutes...some people say that the way you train has an influence on injuries, but Ezequiel just never trained for me when he was already injured...
 
13 players there gerd! Bloody Man Utd cheats, no wonder they are unstoppable on FIFA :LOL:.

Game runs fine for me in menus etc, but when I get the Classic 2D, or TV View 2D up during a match, it's really jumpy and choppy. Now it could have been because my laptop was on and doing a lot whilst I was playing FM last night, but it just seemed odd because I didn't really notice it in the menus. Just wondered if there are any settings or anything I should change or tweak with to give optimal performance? I am just on a laptop, not big PC or anything, but it ran FM08 completely fine, and actually ran the FM09 demo fine so I don't know what's up really :THINK:.

Good to see AFC Liverpool's logo as well ;)

Do you have any face packs or background packs as well?

Let's say i forgot Vander Sar (but we all know better).

Oh i've beaten Man Utd 4-1 with WBA in FIFA...i was gutted that there wasn't a virtual Ferguson in the game...would have liked to see his face...that alone would be worth the expense of the game (i don't really like Ferguson).
 
is it me, or the only way to keep players without them beeing unhappy for not brring allowed to move clubs is to negotiate when u recive a proposal?
for instance, sevilla tried to buy cahill from me...they offered 10m, so as i dont want o sell him i negotiate asking 45m, totally unrealistic, but as i said , i dont want to sell him...ok sevilla gave up, and cahill still ok, this cenario happend with arteta and fellaini too...
now, the spurs offered me 13m for yakubu, who is having a great season for me and i just "rejected". once ive done that yakubu now is unhappy, cause not beeing allowed to move clubs!?!?!? is this a bug? cause im sure that if asked for 50m the spurs would give up and yakubu would be just fine...

So would i but i would have to have a step by step guide of how to put them in with that tool so it was all correct

and for some reason the only stadium that dosnt work in mine is Pride Park!!!!
