Football Clips & Pics!

Greatest player ever just depends on whom you ask, imo i'd say in few years time will be messi as players are more fit and game is faster and what he does with the ball and without is just something else

Maradona said himself, that if Messi win the world cup at some point, the discussion about who is better himself (Maradona) or Pele will end.

"Did I?"

No, come on lads. The Diego picture was only a joke. Anyway... imho there is nothing like "the best player of all time" in football. After all, it is still a team sport. Even Messi needs a good and functional team around him. For me, he is one of those outstanding highly gifted players you'll see at times and I'm glad to see him play.

Good point Mark. People in the 50s will say Di Stefano is the best ever, people in the 70s will appoint Cruyff, the same goes for 2000s with Zidane. All said, there's no such as "best ever" thing.

Yeah it's hard to say and all kinda pointless anyway but I would say Messi is the greatest ever!

What he's doing in TODAY's fast-paced and extremely physical-athletic football where teams line up with 4 defenders and 2 DMF's and tackle you super hard and cynically and double and trip team you in this fast-paced game is a LOT HARDER than what Maradonna or Pele had to endure in my opinion. Back then teams played a lot more attacking it seems, many teams lined up with 3 defenders and maybe one midfielder who helps out defense... it was a different world and a little easier to dance around defenders.

I've been watching and following football religiously all my life ever since I was a kid and seen a lot of great players but for me Messi is just something else! Watching him is like watching god in the body and form of a footballer! He's just sensational! Magical! For me, he's already the world's greatest and best I've ever seen.

And Argentina's failures due to idiot coaches like Maradonna or Batista and corrupt federation can't be blamed on him so for me the fact that he HAS to win a World Cup with Argentina to be considered greatest ever is superficial and shallow. He doesn't have to. It'd be great if he did. Because after all he's 1 player and if team isn't playing well or the tactics are wrong, then a better team like spain will take it despite Lionel's best efforts.

Plus when I've seen Argentina play like even in Copa america, it's not like Messi is playing badly. If he was, then I;'d blame him but in World cup as well as copa America, I thought he played very well and at times single handedly created goals! The fact that the TEAM as a whole didn't go on to win anything is hardly his fault. He's just one player after all.

Are you guys seriously going to start for the 3515613650651560561063150615 time the discussion of who is the best player ever? For f*ck sake, Football is an 11 man sport, why the F*ck are you discussing what a single player can do without his team-mates? Besides why do you keep comparing players if every1 has something the others don't have? And im not even pointing out how stupid it is to compare players from different positions..

Please, for your own sake and for the sake of the thread cut it out.

exactly what i was thinking..Zaragoza looked today as amateurs.. especialy the defence.. i was amazed how easy they leave Madrid space..while having ZERO attack...

There are only two teams in Spain figthing for the title (how many points was it between second and third last year ?)
In England, 5 teams can win the title at least every year

in premier only 2, manchester and chelsea.
this year, maybe, manchester city.

liverpool,arsenal? sorry i don't coment...

barça and madrid will win all leagues, premier, calcio, ligue1..
the are the strongest...

united-chelsea-united-chelsea-united-chelsea...

2004-05 Chelsea
2005-06 Chelsea
2006-07 Manchester United
2007-08 Manchester United
2008-09 Manchester United
2009-10 Chelsea
2010-11 Manchester United

True. But it is definitely closer that La Liga. United and Chelsea are just a bit more serious and play well more constantly than others...

La liga 2010-11
Barcelona 96
R. Madrid 92
Valencia 71
Villareal 62
Barcelona has 34 more points than fourth placed Villareal...

Premier League 2010-11
Man. Utd 80
Chelsea 71
Man. City 71
Arsenal 68
Tottenham 62
Liverpool 58
Everton 54
Fulham 49
Aston Villa 48
Sunderland 47
WBA 47
Newcastle 46
Stoke 46
Bolton 46
So United has 34 points more than fourteenth placed Bolton. Fourteenth in La Liga last season were Levante. 51 points less than Barcelona
All I'm saying is EPL is closer than La Liga and EPL teams are far more stronger than ones in Spain, therefore harder competition Utd, Chelsea have to face than Barcelona and Real to win the title. Some Championship teams are better than some La Liga teams. Just sayin'.

Well the fact that EPL has 5 teams with huge funds makes the points difference closer than La Liga. They will slip points when facing each other but other than that, it is the same story. The EPL's worldwide image got foreign Sheiks and billionaires to come and spend unlimited funds on their clubs. You can't say that's fair.

I won't go into the financial state. The TV shares are brutal with Barceloan and Real basically getting all of them. You did notice Zaragoza where without a shirt sponsor?

Something to point out, La liga teams are developing some of the best talents in the world right now.

:LMAO:

You had some valid points at the beginning but said the dumbest thing to finish your post.

This same Zaragoza side in fact who looked like amateurs against the world's arguably 2nd best team (Real Madrid) are no worse than Swansea or Stoke City and often times have even better players if you look at the squads.

There's absolutely no indication to say Granada, Betis, Zaragoza are in any way shape or form worse than Swansea, Norwich or QPR. In fact if they were to face each other, I'm sure it'd be all pretty even with each winning some.

It IS true that there is unfortunately a big gap in terms of finances between the Big 2 in Spain (which are also the two top ones in world) and rest of Spain but no I'm not so sure at all that Arsenal or Liverpool are that much better if at all than Valencia or Sevilla or that Aston Villa is better than Atletico or Everton better than Villarreal.. etc.

but yah given the RECENT massive investments by sugar daddies like Roman and the Sheikh, NOW EPL has 3 contenders (And even then 3, don't get carried away, They are Man Utd, Man city and Chelsea) which is only one more than La Liga and due to recent massive ridiculous investments!
