FIFA (All Versions) Career Mode Stories

In November 2024, just before the winter transfer window of the 2024-2025 season, I started a new challenge with Tottenham Hotspur in my FIFA 16 career mode. At the time, Spurs were 11th in the Premier League and mid-table in the Europa League under its new format. Right at the start of the transfer window, I brought in some reinforcements: Marc Guéhi as a defensive powerhouse, as I saw him as a promising center-back for the future. I also strengthened the midfield with Orkun Kökçü from SL Benfica and added attacking firepower with Ricardo Pepi, the American international, from PSV.

Unfortunately, my takeover at Tottenham Hotspur didn’t turn into a success story after the transfer window. We finished seventh in the Premier League, securing a spot in the UEFA Conference League. The last hope for a UEFA Champions League ticket depended on a strong Europa League run. Although we made it to the final, we fell short against Athletic Bilbao.

The 2025-2026 season started poorly. We lost our opening matches against Chelsea and Manchester City. Despite the addition of players like Leon Goretzka and Bakayoko, the team struggled to find its rhythm. Seven matches before the end of 2025, we were in sixth place, nine points behind fourth-placed Arsenal and 17 points behind league leaders Manchester City. However, that marked a turning point for Tottenham Hotspur. The team went on to win an incredible 18 of the last 20 league matches, putting us back in contention for the Premier League title.

This turnaround was largely due to smart transfers such as Loïs Openda, Kieran Trippier, Matty Cash, and Eric Dier, which brought much-needed balance to the squad.

In the Conference League, Spurs remain unbeaten and have reached the semifinals. Additionally, the team has earned a spot at Wembley for the FA Cup final against Manchester City. City, like Spurs, is still in the running for the Premier League title and is also competing in the semifinals of the UEFA Champions League.

By the way, I change my team’s kits every season, which is why Tottenham is wearing these customized outfits in the screenshots below.

Well at least we won 2 of the 3 possible trophies :), ended third in the Premier League 4 points behind title winner Liverpool. At least Champions League football is back next year.

It’s mid-December now, and we’re out of the League Cup after a frustrating loss to Brighton. Once again, we’re still in the title race, but there’s a tough road ahead with several challenging matches left this season: away games against Liverpool, Arsenal, and Manchester City.

We’re also still in the Champions League. There’s one final league-stage match remaining an away game against Bayern Munich. We need a win to secure direct qualification for the Round of 16.

The team is gradually evolving into a top-tier Premier League side. This summer, we invested the transfer budget wisely, bringing in a world-class defender in Tomori and signing Gÿokeres as a backup striker for Openda.

By the way, we kept last year’s third kit — couldn’t part with a trophy-winning design that looks so good, haha!

Loving the write up @JochemLFC especially as a Tottenham fan :D

Looks really good, kits look really good too, and i noticed you have the new Champions League format too. Would be good to see how Veliz does for you.

I hope in real life they give the manager time rather than panic and ‘rinse and repeat’

Thanks, mate! As a Liverpool fan, I know what it's like to wait long for trophies and succes. That’s also the reason I chose Tottenham in this career mode—it makes the challenge all the more exciting! Veliz has been sold in the deal with Gyokeres, he didn't reached his potential and kept stuck on a 79 raiting.

We have now reached March, and the hope for a potential title is still alive. Liverpool remains 4 points behind but can close the gap if they take care of business in the rescheduled match.

After finishing ninth in the Champions League group stage, we had to play play-offs against SL Benfica. We performed well, winning 3-1 at home and drawing 2-2 away. However, we lost the first leg of the Round of 16 against AC Milan, 1-2, meaning there is still a lot of work to do in the return match at San Siro.

The FA Cup also remains exciting, with the next match against Nottingham Forest in the quarter-finals.

Possible Treble Aspirations for Spurs?

With an impressive 0-2 victory at San Siro and 1-0 and 3-0 wins over Manchester City, Tottenham remain in contention for three trophies. In the Premier League, the Spurs are level on points with Liverpool, with a game in hand.

In the Champions League, the Spurs managed a 1-1 draw in the first leg of the semi-final at home against title favorites Real Madrid. This keeps their dream of reaching the final very much alive.

In the Premier League, the title is still within reach. Seven points from the next three games could crown Tottenham as champions of England for the first time since 1961. To achieve this, they must win an away match against Manchester City and secure victories in two home games against West Ham United and Southampton.

Finally, on the last day of May, Tottenham will face rivals Arsenal in an exciting FA Cup final.

A bit over 1/3 of the season with Hull city on my FIFA 19 career.
Has proven to be a real challenge, I play 10 min on ULT difficultly, and the CPU can be lethal at times, krebstars SL sets with some tweaks are very good but challenging.
Obviously the goal is promotion, but by the looks of it via playoff.

Just beat Everton at home in the last 32 of the Carabao cup, a real nail biter that I won 2-1
Next round is Wolves away.
Great career and game this

With 6 gam s to go my Hull career is shaping up to be a very close one.
This game (FIFA 19) has had some real tough games on Ultimate difficulty but never felt cheated in any way
Fingers crossed

Tough start to the s ason for me at Hull, 8 games played, 3 wins and 5 losses.
These sliders and my really shitty team (70-75 ovr) and Ult difficulty really makes it a challenge.
All three wins have come away , while beating Liverpool/United i get hammered by Stoke at home etc.
But, really a fun career this.
One thing though, way back i used to bang in screamers left and right, dont think I've had one so far.
Big game coming up Vs Everton at home, need to start to win at home, especially against team in my punching range

Congrats on the promotion!
Yeah the new season might not have started in the best fashion but hey, the season is long and if the club's oblective is to avoid relegation (a thing that makes sense after all), I think it can be achieved.

What happened to Stoke there? Not a season finale to remember, by any means. 🫣
At least they made it to the top tier via the playoffs I seem to understand (seeing that you mentioned them also in the new season).

Thanks buddy, I'm doing pretty good, just beat Brighton away 6-2 and next up is Man City
Stoke made their way up through the play offs, and obviously beat us in our 3rd game of the season
Very challenging this, and fun!
What's your preferred game atm buddy?

Well done with the Promotion @rockstrongo bro! :TU:

Man FIFA 19 is a great game.. I've played a very long custom Cup in it (total of 20+ matches), and really really enjoyed it.

I think FIFA 14-19 were all great games, with all of their different characteristics!!

Like @*aLe says, there is something quite special about the challenge of promotion/avoiding relegation.. The pressure is on, and this increases the fun factor!!

I'm not playing much at the moment but when I do it's usually FIFA 14 (version 1.0 but fully licensed on PC) or FIFA 19 (version 1.0 unmodded on Xbox One).
When it's PES, it's PES 2020 (1.0 unmodded) on Xbox One.
Just playing friendlies though, I don't have the will to commit to a career mode right now after my last ones (Macclesfield with FIFA 19 and NE Revolution with FIFA 18) didn't end well at all.

Yeah, that's exactly it Millos, and having Ng a shit team is frustrating but it's why I play these games, instead of taking Barcelona and winning everything all the time

And thanks buddy

Great choices aLe.
Nice to see someone else beside me liking PES 20, I prefer it to 21 every day of the week
Sorry to hear about your last career modes, I rarely (on FIFA) last more than 3-4 seasons before I feel bored with it, usually play longer ML on Pes than CM or n Fifa

For the first time since I returned to FIFA 16 half a year ago, I managed to win the league. I have played several careers in several clubs, about 25 seasons in total, and only now have I managed to win the championship. Wolves career, season 4, I finally got it! . However, I am a bit disappointed, winning the league was quite easy for me, because almost from the beginning of the season I was the leader of the table with a safe point advantage. Even the championship match with Liverpool away, three rounds before the end, was not too demanding. I won 2:1, but I still had the match under control. It's a pity that in this FIFA there is no special celebration after the match in which the league championship is won. When I won the decisive match against Liverpool FC, the players behaved without much enthusiasm, as after any other match. I had to wait until the last match of the season to celebrate. I had little more emotions in the seasons in which I fought for a place in the UCL... However, I decided that if I won the league and UCL in one season, I would start my career in the English League Two.

Just a quick note guys, if you're posting lots of pictures in your post, please wrap <spoiler> tags around them - otherwise the page hops around like a frog in a fryer while you're trying to read the posts, as every humongous image loads in one-by-one. I've gone through the last couple of pages and added them where necessary!

(If you're not sure how to do that, click the eye with a diagonal line through it in the bar above the message composer to add the tags and place your images in-between them. Alternatively, write <spoiler> above the first image and write </spoiler> below the last image, but using square brackets - i.e. [ and ] - instead of the angle brackets I've just used.)

I can't believe...my career at Wolves ended after the 5th season. In the 4th seaso I unexpectedly won the championship (the board's goal was to qualify for the UCL). In the 5th season, I was given an unrealistic goal of winning the Premier League and UCL (even though I set in CM16 the highest goal to be qualification for the UCL before start career). The season was hard and I finished it in 8th place in the table and i end UCL at group stage. After the season I was fired. This is ridiculous, and for me it completely ruins the immersion. The great gameplay of this game contrasts with the career mode unrealistic goals from the board for weak and mid-level teams (this probably appears to the whole FIFA series). For now, I don't want to play anymore :(

Edit:
I didn't last long :D one day after wrote this post I found a save from the beginning of the season (10 matches played) after which I was fired and I'm trying again. I won't meet the management's goal of winning the league because I have too many points to lose, but maybe if I manage to qualify for the UCL, maybe the management won't release me this time:p The first match I played was an away game against Tottenham. I was losing 1:3, I scored goals in 85, 88 and 90 minutes, winning 4:3. This was one of my most spectacular come back in FIFA 16.Actually, after 20 matches I am in 6th place, 4 points behind the UCL. In the UCL group, this time I won promotion to the knockout stage in the last match against Napoli.
