FIFA 23 Discussion Thread (Console Versions)

FIFA 23 was the best game ever a few weeks ago, you change your views more than the UK weather cycles.
id check again the last time i spoke was beginning of Jan and was torn about it after the update. Again i reference this a few days ago saying the more its patched the worse it gets. At the beginning i quite enjoyed it that is true but change my mind like the weather, nah!

They’ve fucking ballsed up again! The update has removed any aggression from the ai. They just stand off you now!!!!!

Great... This really is the "YouTuber's edition" update. Easier to chain skill-moves AND even more static defenders too?

They are doubling-down on the "arcade" now, aren't they. Not a good sign of things to come.

Maybe they just wanna get rid all those old lines of code lying around… so they can start fresh with EA FC!

Honestly. Stand still with the ball and watch what the ai does. They have also stopped tracking your men. I managed to run the length of the field with Torriera of Galatasaray without a challenge.

1. they don’t tackle
2. When you turn them they just run past you
3. They don’t track back or chase

I give up

Yeah I just downloaded update and played two matches. Game is worse than before (if that’s even possible).

Really bad stuff, how the FUT players enjoy this is beyond me. It’s not even football now.

I've only kept this installed as me and my lads play Pro Clubs now and again.

I tried a friendly match after the update. Literally played 2mins and switched off, this game is beyond sliders or anything now. It is fully set up to go on FUT, pull out body warping skills and score bucket loads of goals. EA now have what they wished for.

It still boggles me that this game is allowed to have a form of gambling inbedded into it. Most games you can buy DLC etc... or grind rewards. I've just got into the Crew 2 after it was on offer on the store. At least on that if you want to purchase something, you see what you're getting. It's not a pure gamble that you pay and get a load of shit. Same with games like COD, you can see what gun or skin you'll get for parting with money.

FIFA is a football casino, where you pile money in for skant rewards and the fact their audience for FUT is a younger demographic, it's abhorrent it's allowed to blatantly do this. You have no idea what are in them packs, even if they say you'll get a certain level of player, 9/10 times it's the lower scale of that level, so Mr/Mrs consumer will continue to spend money until they get something good. No different from me taking £20 up Ladbrokes, whamming it into a fruity and hoping to hit the jackpot, cos I've got no idea if I will or not and chances are, I won't.

thank you 👍

though these are pro clubs clips so each colour of cursor represents a different individual person. im controlling the guy with the yellow circle over their head

The pitches look like they were drawn with crayons.

I would love to know what these developers at EA Sport watch because it's not football.

People successfully protested against gambling companies as sponsors on football shirts, so now they are getting removed.

As you say, FIFA is the most dangerous and lucrative gambling company in the whole of football and it's gambling aimed at kids. And FIFA is entrenched everywhere in real football. So erm why is no one protesting against FIFA!!??

You guys all play Pro Clubs FUMA? I've played Clubs since FIFA09 but never with FUMA. That sounds awesome, I'd play that, as I like FUMA anyway.

yes everyone uses full manual controls in the same team . best way to play fifa! (though we play against regular assisted teams majority of the time)

there is a discord for full manual players. about 400 players on there atm. thread here: https://evoweb.uk/threads/fifa-full-manual-fuma-controls-players.85454/

there is an open club on ps4 for full manual players. ps5 has some closed or semi-closed clubs

Just not seeing the lack of aggression or CPU not tackling. Loads of fun still. Tough playing newly relegated Bournemouth at home here:

I had the AI do a proper cross yesterday as well. And they scored a worldie. I have found an issue with the high scoring games though (I did Man City v Crystal Palace & Palace won 7-3). What would you suggest as a solution for that? Higher GK ability on the sliders? Or increase shot error to 90 or something? I'm not sure how to fix that tbh

I find EA a really dark company in this regard. In the media they act as darlings doing their bit for the community. The other day they were opening a pitch in London dedicated to Rocastle at Arsenal and investing in community football...when the reality is it's all just a cover-up for the underbelly of getting kids hooked on gambling. It feels totally unregulated and it needs banning. It's our only hope of football games getting good again.

It's the same with social media platforms, Tiktok is like heroin for kids and everyone thinks it's harmless fun. Meanwhile the kids get mentality ill without realising and these companies run to the hills with their billions.

The world has turned to s**t.

That's tough because it could be so many things. Maybe a question to put in the sliders thread to go in a bit more. If using the OS sliders, the shot error value is fairly high already. Give more detail in the slider thread if possible so I don't hijack this one!

Latest patch notes say:

"FIFA 23 patch #11 is available today enabling players to execute chained Skill Moves"

Says it all really.

I'm sure when Kylian Mbappe goes out to practise in the morning, he says to himself, "Ooh, I must remember to practise executing my chained skill moves."

What an absolute joke.

Like many of you old gamers, I am addicted to football games. I mean, I grew up with football games since childhood, like many of you gamers.

Also, a large part of our past life was spent with various football games and very happy memories of that time are recorded in our minds. Football games that gradually improved and became better and better with each passing generation. Perhaps the peak of the development of football games was in the sixth generation of the game industry and the PES series at that time, and it was the king of sports games.

Of course, in the seventh generation of the game industry, the FIFA series had a crazy leap from the FIFA 08 version, and the animations of the seventh generation FIFA were wonderful, and the quality and gameplay improved year by year, and finally, FIFA 12 was truly a revolution in sports games.

The eighth generation was not bad either. After the bitter events that happened in the Konami company, the high-level managers of this company decided to withdraw from the production of expensive games. Then the budget for the development of PES 8th generation was limited, and with the closure of Kojima's studio, all the trouble of developing the Fox graphics engine fell on the shoulders of PES studio and many other sidelines. Anyway, the PES development team in the 8th generation was able to organize this series to some extent and at least in the gameplay part, we can face an acceptable game. Although they could never return to the glorious days of PES 6th generation.

After that, the wonderful teaser of eFootball PES 2022, which was a real version of the 9th generation console and was supposed to be made based on the 9th generation consoles, and the spark of hope came alive in the hearts of all the fans of this series. The sad story was that due to COVID-19 and the bitter and painful events that covered the whole world, the development of games in the game industry remained half-finished during that time. Many games continued to be made indoors. The plans of the companies for the development of the games were messed up, and in short, it caused the fact that due to COVID-19 and the change of the graphics engine of the PES series from the Fox engine to the Unreal 4 engine, and the production process was prolonged and the cost increased. The excuse fell into the hands of Konami managers to cancel the original version of the ninth generation and the free/service-oriented-mobile-cross platform game named eFootball was born and practically football games for many football fans reached the end of their way!

FIFA 9th generation game, no matter how much I wanted to deal with it, I couldn't!

Really, I was able to adapt to every weak point of this game, except, except for the part of the animations of the foot to the ball of the players in the field and the animations slipping on the grass and the ball sinking into the foot and the low quality animations of the foot to the ball I really can't deal with it and this section has severely affected the visual gameplay of the game. (Other basic problems such as poor body modeling design of players, weak ball physics, lack of balance between defense and attack, cartoon coloring of the game and synthetic cloth physics and many other problems aside)

Do you want a reason? You really want a reason! The reason is very clear! The 9th generation of graphics engines, physics engine, animation and motion capture technologies have made amazing progress, but this is the tragic and bitter situation of today's football games, which have become a competitive online game. And the concept of realism is the last priority for the development teams of current football games.

Just look at this FIFA 08 seventh generation gameplay (FIFA 08 console version)! It is really shocking. Look at the animations of the players' foot to the ball, what a great quality it is and how natural it is designed, and consider that it is a seventh generation game, considering the power of the hardware and software of that time! But its quality is far better and brighter than today's football games! ( Note that the FIFA development team in this section has not even reached the standard of a seventh generation football game and the quality is much lower! )

This was the bitter end for us fans of simulation football games.
