I do miss the form faces from Pes myself, I had them since ISS.
Even when I was a child, playing ISS against my dad on SNES - there was always this element of mystery - what squad we will get. Will we have all our best players in form. Every match was starting from this little drama.
Id love Fifa to have something like this. Unfortunately - Career Mode tweaks is the closest you gonna get to it.. :(

FIFA had a simple form arrow years and years ago. They even had an auto-select to pick your best XI (if I remember correctly) if you really couldn't be assed. Form and fitness indicators all you need I reckon.

First game on the update, 10 minutes in, scored with my first shot on target (not a finesse, just a standard shot from outside the area and one I know 100% would have been saved before) - alarm bells started ringing.

Professional AI seemed a little more difficult than before, slightly more ping-pongy but not horribly so (in-fact AI pass accuracy was a little lower than usual). I saw the AI's CBs running forward to stop the danger man more often than before. Also, the AI's shot error slider seems to work now - I'd set it to 70 and saw very little difference previously, but the AI blazed awkward shots over the bar a couple of times.

Only one game in, largely positive - but the goalkeeper changes are scaring me a little bit.
 
the new update actually makes the game worse for full manual players. unbelievable :LMAO:

Well at least they tried... now we just need a patch to fix this patch
 
Just a head’s up: patch doesn’t fix current Career Mode saves as I feared.

You will need to start a new one.

for example, Manager Objectives don’t appear as completed when you meet the board’s requirements on saves before the patch. This has now been been fixed amongst other things in Career but means you will need to start a new save.

This is why I held off from starting a Career save until the first major patch was available. Happens every year it seems.

Sometimes those things are fixed with the end of the season, as it refreshes the database or whatever, maybe try that!

I want to start a new save anyway, hate using dirty Wolves :LOL:

West Ham next I think, I love the camera angle at London Stadium. Can’t use my own team (Villa), I get bored and annoyed with the ONE crowd chant that EA lazily have kept and not added to. We’ve got loads of chants at the Villa, not just one ffs!

i'd go beserk every time those bubbles come up! never ever i'm going to start a career with them, as much as i would like to... but no, those bubbles are making my head ache!
...if it were all paperballs... now thats a different story! :LOL:
 
Anyone finished a season and started new one?
There's something odd with my youth academy. I started new season and playing friendly tournament and youth academy is gone. Inactive.
I can view youth scouts, but cant get into the academy. Maybe it will become active again when new season starts, but I wanted to promote and test few players. Bit weird.
 
I had only the chance to play two halves. One on World Class and one on Legendary and I'm pretty sure that the AI is weaker now. On Legendary they had no shot on goal and only a pass completion rate of 81%. It was much more easy to intercept the ball and I scored two simple goals.

Of course, it's only one game or only a half of a game but it'll interesting to read your impressions.

The defenders track, midfielders don't, especially the most important ones, in the centre, they ball watch way too much and leave players free. which is horrendous, as pressing doesn't work and can't tackle the players on the ball and mark the runners at the exact same time.

I finished a season and started the next, and lost almost all the players in the Youth academy. This may be a feature not a bug in some way – do you have to sign them or they're automatically released? I don't know enough about CM to know, so I ignored it.

But then I noticed a new player in my main squad – not a youth, a 30-year-old veteran CM, Harkes, with a real-life picture who I 100% know I didn't sign (and who didn't slip in unnoticed as part of a swap deal or anything). So there was that mystery. And then one of my other players, the Free Agent hero M Abdulrahman, who had been great for me, simply vanished and is no longer anywhere to be found in the game. Did he retire? I don't recall being told. And I think he was about 30... Could Harkes somehow be who Abdulrahman is now?? There are tons of little bugs like that but at this stage I was mainly playing for the gameplay.

same issue on ps4 trial and ps5 but still much,much better than unplayable fifa21. Hope patch will improve this issue a little bit:

Updated the defensive logic for players near the halfway line when defending a counter attack that originated from a corner situation.
  • Defenders near the halfway line will now attempt to more closely mark the counter attacking players.
 
Played a couple of games, and based on them...

Good: my defence was narrower and compact when tracking back.

Bad: AI still lofts ridiculously short passes for no reason.

Not sure: goalkeepers. I won my games 1-0 and 3-1 (previous two games 0-0 and 1-4) despite getting battered in both. My keeper was outstanding in both matches, almost too good. Hopefully that's not a sign of all things to come.

Quite glad I got a second 10 hour trial for no obvious reason!

The new player is probably someone coming back from Loan.
I got caught like this before. Few of my main players vanished when new season started. They were all on loan.
Its always a good habit to go to squad hub and check all their contracts, so you dont end up like me. I had no one to score goals.

But Academy should not vanish. Thats why you can sign a 15 year olds, who cant even be used. They are supposed to sit there and develop across seasons.

It [youth academy] might become active when I finish friendly tournament but it should never be inactive in the first place. Whole point of friendly tournament is to try/test new players.
