Fifa 13: Career Mode Discussions

Only downside to ratcheting up injury severity and frequency is that it 'works' properly in the 'SIM' option.

I lose a player a match that I choose to SIM, often with multi-month injuries. Barely ever get hurt when I play the match myself though.
 
Yeah I've noticed that myself as well which is odd. Though I barely SIM games so it's a small sample size.

Paul, I see. That's strange if true. A setting of 50 should be same for AI and human players. No reason to be different. But I'll take your word for it and give AI 5 more.
 
I only Sim when forced, when my VP is injured....really annoying!

my unbeaten record in the league was broken as soon as I was forced to sim a match!

Same here, so annoying, at least put me on the friggen bench to save us in the last 20 minutes!

Lol thats ok, Ive got a good defence anyway. Agger, Skrtel, Johnson, Alba, Kolorov, Coates, Muniesa, Mascherano

So I have good cover, Strange thing tho is that the match after vs Spurs The ref gave me TWO red cards!!!! I didnt even do anything wrong. Both Lewandowski & Assaidi were sent off(lewandowski gave a pen away which was saved) but didn't tackle!! The player impact engine was at fault, the spurs players ran into them and fell over!! WTF???
When lewandowski was sent off i was 1-0 up just b4 half time and Ba missed lol but they equalised in the 2nd half then took the lead AFTER Assaidi was dismissed! I went on with 9 men and won 5-2 cos I brought Hazard, Silva & Sterling on and switched my formation around, spurs fell apart as soon as i made it 2-2 even though they had a 2 man advantage(and 1st time Lloris was in goal and not bale or defoe lol)
 
Really annoying when you enquire about a player and then bid the amount they say only for them to come back saying they reject the offer because the player is too valuable, seems to be the case with many players in the last year of the contract, for example 24 year old Neymar is in the last year and they say they'll accept £13.5m for him then they turn it down!

I think it also depends on how you play, if youre rough and tackle and barge in a lot the AI and your own players will be more injured, also your squad rotation has effects aswell. Keeping everyone rested and playing a more calm style means you hardly get injuries.
 
Blimey, no updates all weekend? Ok, here's a report from me on the "VP" career.

After winning the League, COC and FA Cup with Newcastle in my debut season (for them), winning player of the year with 45 league goals and becoming an England regular (even though EVERYTIME I play the report states I'm making my debut!!!) I decided to accept the terms of an offer from Roma where I have so far scored 7 goals in 8 games (plus a hat-trick on my (latest!) debut for England).

(But not before I made one final league appearance for Newcastle at the start of the season....where I was sent off on 9 seconds!).

I'm struggling to re-create my Newcastle form so far as I get used to their three-pronged forward line. Also, they play it around a LOT more than Newcastle so many of my off the ball runs, and the energy they use up, are wasted. At Newcastle, I knew if I sprinted straight from kick off to get behind the back four then Cabaye or Ben-Arfa would hoof it up to me.

I struggle with England's style too as I'm always played as a CF behind Rooney so spend a lot of time building up play and losing points if I want to get behind the defence.

Ngoo is now aged 22, rated at 80, overall with his top attributes being Acceleration, Pace, Strength, Finishing and Control. I'd trade a few points in to be able to get my stamina above 70 so I can play two games a week but alas it's not happening.

Dunno if I need to up my skill level (playing on Professional I think) and I'm also pondering the idea of starting a new career where I'm a fringe player for the first team, someone like Downing, to see if I can keep my place.

Anyone got any suggestions for interesting challenges now that I've pretty much ticked off "get little known, reserve team 60+ player to be a top player courted by foreign clubs"?
 
I'm having a great time with my new VP Career.

Started at Barnet in League 2. Managed to be top goalscorer and win the Paint Trophy and League.

I wanted to move to Spain or Italy next, got some offers from Championship sides, Wolves and another small prem side. I rejected them holding out for a Spanish team and Bilbao came in, I accepted straight away :))

My first game in the first 5 mins the keeper gave away a pen and got sent off! we lost 2-1 but played well. Got my first goals in the next couple of games and managed to score twice against PAOK in the Euro League.

Currently sharing the striker Role with Llorente, I usually start and get subbed about the 55th - 65th minute, no matter how well I play. But I am young and Llorente needs game time, so it is all good.

Still early, but am doing well in the top 5 strikers at the moment, but all scored around 7, 6, 5 goals etc. Think I am on 5 (Maybe 4)?

The aim is to eventually play for Arsenal one day :))

Two unreal things, I got chosen for an England game while with Barnet in League 2, but only one game. (Although I haven't been chosen again, even though I played ok.)

Also I was sold to Bilbao for 7.5m which for a League 2 striker is a bit over the top, also going to the La Liga is a bit unrealistic, but hey.

Otherwise though, I am having a lot of fun :DD.

Two interesting things for me there - 1) not getting included by England and 2) actually being subbed even if play well.

What difficulty level are you playing on?

I have had a couple of times I've missed out on England squads but literally only a couple in a year, I put it down to my form rating being a bit lower than normal, perhaps it's that *compared* to that of other players in your position, but perhaps it's the difficulty level.

Also, the sub thing, I've never had a game where I'm below 6 come the 60 minute mark and I reserve my stamina more than I ever did so that I'm at least half "full" again by 60 minutes.

Is it possible these factors are contributing? Or again is it the difficulty level?

It can't be the players you're keeping out as I kept Cisse out of the Newcastle team all season, even though I only started at 71 rating for them.
 
I'm playing on professional at the moment, but some of the easier games I put it on World class to up the difficulty.

I get really realistic results with Professional (and full manual) and really good games, but sometimes it is just too easy to get the ball off of the opposition. World Class can sometimes be a bit too frustrating with teams spinning around avoiding tackles like they have read my mind etc.

So I do a mixture really.

With regards to stamina I never really check mine, but I am never knackered. Also sometimes I can be playing amazing and I will still get subbed. The maximum I have got though is 3rd season (then the game broke :(( ) so I am hoping that when I get older etc my playing time increases and I become the main striker, so that I can get full games?

agreed but you can still get good value after the enquiry. i did the same for neymar and got him for around 24MM. now real madrid (after 18month) offering me £75MM. thats nice Real roic.
 
The most unrealistic thing is that Bilbao would buy a non-Basque player like you Bobby of course. But that's not programmed in. For that reason alone, I would've gone to ANY other Spanish team BUT Athletic Bilbao.

Yeah that as well, I was thinking that when the commentators were talking about them (I forgot about it until then).

Even if I would have remembered I would have probably gone to them anyway, because my options were limited and I wanted to play in the spanish leagues.

Yeah in the end I got him for something like £22m which wasn't bad and I'll surely make a nice profit, I was just curious to play with someone of the calibre of Neymar in my team :)
 
As Tranmere, Jean-Louis Akpa Akpro has scored something like 8 goals in 9 games. Meanwhile Jake Cassidy keeps getting in the news as he's still not scored in 16 matches :LOL:

Funny how things like that work out. AA has a worse rating too but is obviously better when it matters!
 
Managed to get Suarez sent off earlier...without tackling! All he did was run into the player after the ball was gone, yet got booked for it. Then 20min later he did it again and was sent off. Odd, as nothing else happend and have never had that before....the ref was black though. ;)

Thats how i had 2 players sent off!!!

I was also just playing Ultimate Team and Enrique got booked for standing!!!!

My oppositions player ran to connect a header and missed, instead jumped into enrique and fell down, result=yellow card & free kick. Enrique did nothing!! Maybe if he had gone down too then maybe no cards lol
 
Playing on Christmas Day, ultimate realism from EA.

I swear sometimes the game just has enough of being beaten and just flicks a switch. On a good run of winning games, then bang. The CPU starts jinking around my defenders with incredible ease and scores immediately after I score, then scores again in the 90th minute. This trend continues for another four games where I go on to lose all four due to the CPU dancing around untouchable. Bear in mind I'd probably lost twice in 20 games beforehand. Even when I equalise, the CPU always finds some way of managing to get that goal, whether it's from my defenders going for a wander or a dodgy penalty.

I'm not a poor player at all and, as I say, was having a very good season beforehand. But this takes the piss and after the MK Dons thinking they're Barcelona and weaving some magic for the 5th game running by the CPU, I'm a little fed up of this crap.

I wasn't convinced that CPU cheating was there Dags but it's more noticeable on my VP career as I have spells (usually 2 or 3 games) when EVERY shot is deflected or saved then next thing...back to normal with 3 out of 10 shots going in.

Seems to affect my dribbling too - no matter what I do, I'm tackled, every time.
 
I wrote about that cheating a few days ago.
My "favorite" is when cpu switch is on Superman mode and I get a throw-in. No matter what I do and how I throw the ball, my player that receives the throw-in becomes the rock and ball bounces off him directly into ai player feet, pass-pass-pass-goal.
That was also in fifa12.

Funny thing in my cm as sheffield; I signed a CB in first transfer window, and after 6 games dude demands a better contract! Even better is that I can't change his contract/wage becuse it's locked (you have recently negotiated the contract with this player; try again next season). :FAIL:

Wanna try and bring them back to the glory days with Serie A trophies and Champions League finals :)

Adryan is showing great potential (18-yo) and I am expecting him to reach 78-79 in this season, and he has already scored 2 goals (2 against Inter) and 1 assist, so really looking forward to see how he will develop.

Schürrle is just a class player and hopefully he will prove to be vital for my team.

Can't remember the results of the first 5 games, but I will put them up here when I come home later today.
 
For anyone that hasn't noticed, based on my twitter conversation with immurbase of EA they believe all bugs/freezes are fixed and no further updates are planned.

I did a career first with Milan and brought in Schurrle. His stats fly up and was Europes top scorer in his first season. I played him in a front two, the left of the pair. Deadly, and he has a hell of a shot on him.
