FIFA 12 Demo impressions

Some of the comment in here are ridiculous. Game too fast! CPU 100% accurate on headers! Tackling system doesn't work! it's as if people are determined not to like the game. The speed is close to perfect for me, the defending works it just requires a little practise (at least its not just sprint into someone now to tackle) and the CPU scoring nothing but headers and 100% accurate is just pure rubbish. Ive seen more headers missed than ive conceded, ive seen CPU dribble, lay off and shoot from out side the box.

I'm not sure what people want from a video game but this will suit me no end.
 
You can also Be A Goalkeeper in-game ;) When you press select while opposite is in an attack and has the ball, you change into Be A Goalkeeper-Mode, meaning you can control the goalie during the opposite's attack. Extremely useful for 1on1 situations. As soon as your team conquers the ball, it switches back to "normal" mode automatically.

Legacy defending is a breeze tho..

I play PES on top player so im not a complete noob..
its not that my hands are from my ass :) But tactical defending seems... awkward!

Yeah I have no issue with the game speed either. Seems fine on both Normal and/or Slow.

I did just play a few games and tried not much yet, but what two tab buttons do you have to hold?

Is team mate pressure now on a tab button?
 
i like the new defending.

i will try and show some video later if i get a chance of some of my amazing defending lol

it is much more realistic imo.

i have tried playing pes, as much as i want to like it. it feels odd

maybe because i was playing fifa 12 demo all evening.

No offense mate, but do you actually have any issues with FIFA games? lol

The entire point of this thread is to share our opinions on the game, wether good or bad.

I've not conceded any headed goals yet. Most of them seem to be really nice finishes off into the bottom corners. Remy scored a belter penalty past me for OM, smashing it in off the post. Like I say though, I'm doing pretty well against the better teams (stats wise), but Dortmund can literally rip you apart with Gotze and certainly Barrios, who hit a hat-trick against me in one game.

same here, no headed goals and i have defended all the crosses.

usually well worked goals from the cpu
 
Anyway this is best Fifa for me since Fifa95 on Sega Megadrive :BOP: oh well World cup edition was also quite good..

Oh and i found for myself vertical camera! Looks great and remind me of Sensible soccer, WHOOAAH :))

Funny enough that's not the case for me. I've been able to intercept their passes on World Class and that's probably because I've come to grips with using the new defending controls with a focus on positioning in mind. I love how the defending is now more methodical and precise. And because neither the normal nor secondary press allows for easy auto tackles, you're forced to spend more time positioning players around to block passing lanes instead of just barging in to dispossess a dribbler. I switched back to legacy defending for a few matches and my younger brother who saw me playing commented that the game still pressure-heavy, to which of course I assured him its just me fiddling with old controls lol. That alone has made tactical defending far and away the biggest improvement they've introduced this year because it contributes to many aspects of the game.

As for headed goals...nope, have experienced nothing problematic on that end whatsoever. In fact I've probably cleared the ball more times than the CPU has tried to net them in. Maybe it's cos by the time the CPU gets a chance to cross I'm already in a good position for a clearance (I'm used to holding down the jockey modifier for positioning too so that probably helped a bit)

Actually Yeah. FIFA 11 had too much pressure, tackling was poor as was tactics. (im not a PES fan any more and I do see faults). Saying that I got a year out of it and for me it was still the best multi player footy game (on manual controls)


At the end of the day FIFA 12 has improved on all the above issues and more. It does seem that people t have just had a few games and because its different this year rubbish it immediately. I honesty believe it could be amazing and some people would still rubbish it just because its EA.

It wouldn't bother me if people just say its not for me or I prefer PES but they don't they state absolute rubbish.

in this fifa I fight
vs IA
vs Impact engine (wtf! in moments)
vs slow moves

I need train few more...but i don't know...
 
Maybe the first fifa game i will skip after 08...Worst fifa demo by far IMO for one serious reason : I play on slow and the game is atrocious...80% of the motions and animations are performed in really unatural speed...its like im watching a football game from dvd in 1.5× speed !! Its absurd,really...Ball is like a balloon and there is no weight at all in most shots and passes.Also in most of the shots ball speed maybe is above 200 km,really sad.Maybe some of this can be a little fixed via the sliders but i doubt.I hope final game is different because this is not football
 
I found the perfect solution for me. I switched Contain and Standing Tackle on the controls, so now X on my gamepad is a standing tackle again. I don't use contain anymore. I just follow the player with the ball on my own and keep him away from goal "manually". Much more pleasant and doesn't feel weird. You can even time you standing tackle much better.

They should slow the game down a bit more IMO. Very good game though!

Probably been mentioned but a nice touch there.. if not slightly annoying in the context.

Had the ball out wide with Arshavin on the half way line. As he played it in to Wilshere he was clipped and stayed down. Couple passes later Gervinho is out wide on the edge of the box when the whistle blows and the ref pulls play back because Arshavin is injured.

Take him off, play goes back to where Gervinho had the ball and the ref has it in hand. Drops it and the Marseille defender knocked a long ball back to my keeper.
 
i have some videos to show soon. nothing special but one is of messi precision dribbling and how it worked out a chance for a goal

and another is, let's just say really bad.

ball hit off the post and my player jumped out of the way for a tap..
 
Its got all the hallmarks to be a great game, but for me the speed is putting me off and the way the cpu dribbles.

I was extremely tired last night when playing, so that could be a good reason why i didnt have any patience for the game and maybe why it felt fast on slow.
 
considering i have played fifa since fifa 08. used to be a pes player upto pes6

i am finding fifa much harder than pes right now.

i do play all manual though but still it is very difficult. pes is pick up and play it seems. used to be the other way round lol

What have you been smokin' man?! There is no doubt that FIFA 12 ain't perfect, but calling it the worst FIFA demo ever is just ridiculous. I sometimes ask myself how drunk some people must be to have such a bizarre view on FIFA.

i disagree. i think PES is more challenging.

my mate who aint really a massive fan also said how fifa is easier then PES
 
Fifa International Soccer on the Megadrive for me, then ISS on the SNES, ISS Deluxe and from there every single PES up until PES2009, where I switched to Fifa. I still bought Winning Eleven 2010 and PES 2011, but really didn't get on with them too well. Saying that, FIFA 11 was a let down for me, too, as the flaws in Career Mode really struck a nerve with me.

I did something similar (using the Alternate scheme). I switched X with A, A with RB and RB with X as I don't feel the need for using containing as well. I now have pressing with a second defender on X and standing tackle on A, just like it was before. Couldn't care less about containing now that it's on RB and won't interfere with my usual control layout I got used to :)
