Re: FIFA 09 Discussion Thread

are those screenshots on gamingaccess.com from the ps3 version or PC version of fifa09?

Re: FIFA 09 Discussion Thread

Those videos look a great indication of what's to come. Especially seeing as both those players are bloody awful.

Re: FIFA 09 Discussion Thread

True, and considering the quality of the videos are bloody awful, last one especially seemed to have numerous frames removed the whole way through it, looked more like an animated gif made from screenshots rather than a movie, look forward to some 720p gameplay videos from gametrailers.com or gamersyde.com, or better yet from FSB ;)

Re: FIFA 09 Discussion Thread

Oh god they look awful. The kits look like ps2 kits and don't get me started on the faces.

Re: FIFA 09 Discussion Thread

No I have to admit, they are pretty poor. Tranmere's kit always looks like it's been painted onto a plastic bag in FIFA, it never looks right, and I had to look twice at that Chelsea shot above to realise who it was supposed to be. In PES you know who it is instantly.

They've got an excuse, they have 10x the teams that Pro Evo has, but then most of the players are given generic faces so...

Did your PS2 have a Ferrari engine in it???

I never saw kits like that in PS2 pes and the faces are ok.Personally as long as Icn assciate the player with its rel life counterart then I am not very fussed about perfect faces.

Re: FIFA 09 Discussion Thread

all the bitching about faces, kits, nets (they aren't as bad as people are making out)

come on get a grip, this game is head and shoulders about anything else and you are moaning about things that really are not that important, unless you wanna replay, zoom in like geeks? and not play the game as a football game?

what did i used to read about pes, "doesnt matter what it looks like or the atmosphere it is all about the gameplay"

maybe take that into fifa, and actually enjoy what this great game has to offer?

on a seperate note, if they started improving all the faces, and the nets etc and neglected the gameplay and other features then i would be pissed off.. bit of perspective needed?

maybe they have set things they want to advance, like gameplay and then they will concentrate more on the finishing touches like nets , faces etc

i reckon next year you will get an improvement in manager mode
Well said pal.

Re: FIFA 09 Discussion Thread

Personally thought they were fine. thought Ronaldo looks much better than he did in 08.

What you on about :SS I admit some faces on FIFA are awful!! but That is the best malouda face i have seen in a game

Maybe you just need to watch football so you actually know how the player looks in real life

Re: FIFA 09 Discussion Thread

I think malouda looks good.

Fifa faces just look a bit plasticy and shiny. Most of them look like serial killers aswell.

Maybe you need to watch the insults, you've already got two warnings against your name. It's called an "opinion", you seem to have a problem with opinions.

That comparison you've just posted shows exactly what Oli and I are talking about, look at his brow (I didn't realise virtual Malouda was evil) and look at his cheeks.

(EDIT: What Bobbybox just said is exactly what I mean, "most of them look like serial killers".)

I don't care about the graphics if it means the framerate is better and there's more CPU power for the gameplay, but I don't think you can compare those faces to the faces in PES.

Re: FIFA 09 Discussion Thread

I think saying we are sorting gameplay this year and other things next is just PR garbage, the gameplay will be tweaked this year and the next and the next.

AGREED:SAL:

People keep saying they will improve all the little stuff once they have sorted the gameplay..............................well thats along wait then is it not??

Gameplay tweaks is what sells games, not faces, nets and untucked shirts.

Re: FIFA 09 Discussion Thread

Yep, agreed. There's an art department seperate from a gameplay department (and all the other departments), so it's not a case of saying "do less on the art today and more on the gameplay". And they're not going to say to one department "you don't have to work very hard this year because you did such a good job last year". I realise they could lay off people in either department, which would mean more work on one aspect than the other, but I don't see any reason to do that when you're EA and you've got infinite cash to put into your top-selling games, to make them as pretty and as realistic as possible, to shift more copies to the graphics-whores and to the realism-whores alike.

Re: FIFA 09 Discussion Thread

It's fairly obvious while EA have a seperate Manager title we will get little if any major improvement on that side of the game, while it exists the best we can hope for is the ability to play the actual games in FIFA Manager on FIFA10 or 11... :((

Re: FIFA 09 Discussion Thread

Damn you sure are picky, I think Ronaldo and Malouda look spot on.
The kits look a little low res , but those are from past year, not the new ones.

I don't know so much, they had so many requests for that, that they actually did it with FIFA Manager 05 (or 06). You'd do all the management side in that, then put the FIFA disc in to play the match. It worked reasonably well, the only downside being the awful gameplay at the time (with Chesterfield playing like Brazil on professional, with a defensive line that never moved - oh wait, that still happens in FIFA now).

The trouble is that then you're spending 10 minutes on processing every virtual week, that's not what you want in FIFA; you just want to be able to buy and sell players, perhaps train up their weaknesses, and switch jobs when you're sacked or want a change. You don't want to go through 100 possible marketing managers and decide which companies to sell your adboards to. Even the staff improvement thing they have in FIFA 08 now is a bit OTT, in my opinion.

If I've got mates round they get pissed off if I look at possible signings, never mind if you had to run the club inside-out. They wouldn't play manager mode if it was like that, no way.

TBH, if they got it right I wouldn't mind that, in fact I'd prefer a hell of a lot more than we have now. They could always give you the options of having assistants!...

I was thinking about that myself, considering that from the next update we can install games to HDD on the 360 and PS3 owners can already do that there's technically no console based problem stopping there being the possibility of Fifa and Fifa Manager combining to form one game, I would certainly be more than happy to spend £80 a year or whatever to buy both titles if I got a true manager mode combined with the great gameplay of Fifa.

They could keep the Fifa series to a relatively simple/basic manager mode and then you have the option of purchasing Fifa Manager to install to the HDD to give you an advanced manager mode, would be really sweet IMO.
