Re: FIFA 09 Discussion Thread

Cheers for this! Firstly, I'd guess that the chap who played as Chelsea in the previous video, was playing as Man Utd in this, with his lacklustre Arsenal opponent being Barca this time.

Sadly I thought this video was a bit crap compared to the others, hopefully this was an earlier build of the game than in the last video. Seemed to me like FIFA08 with new corner views, more curl on corners sent in, the odd cool collision and hey.. spot of offside about that goal? :DD

Everything was same old. All the usual angles and sweet spots for getting past people with passes or shimmies. The same spots where defenders will never let you through or make a mistake. Certain shots especially daisy-cutters that seem to lose framerate when approaching the keeper, it's like they're 8 feet away from him then it goes slightly stuttery on the ball. The commentary being shite again too pretty much confirms this much be an earlier build than the last vid.

Re: FIFA 09 Discussion Thread

guys , remember this is an early build. Im sure there are things that will be corrected. I hope that they do something with the lighting in that night game (man utd vs barca). It seemed really dark in the corners. There willnever be a perfect game but i think hats of to EA. They have made some excellent strides in the last couple of years. I used to be a Pro Evo lover. But i bought Euro 2008 after playing the impressive demo and i have loved it ever since. Traded in my Pro game months ago. Yes Euro has some flaws but online is a dream to play. Never thought i could play online so lag free. I have had some epic games. Fifa 09 is looking great so far. I never played Fifa 08 so cant compare and not sure of the faults that were with that game. Roll on October the 3rd. Think my first game will be Arsenal Vs Spurs at the Emirates. May aswell get off to a winning start. Hack down Bentley on the wing for my fisrt dirty tackle and watch him writhe in agony.

Re: FIFA 09 Discussion Thread

Amusing to hear clive "that special night in barcelona" tyldesly get his manu bias into the fifa commentary; "Even though manu are involved in this match it could still go either way".

Also is there now more curve on the ball? Giggs' first corner had more then I can remember doing in 08.

Makes you wonder how much you can trust reviews of games when the people playing are obviously from mags and sites being a press event, they are crap at the game.

Oh and the news page is looking really good Chris, keep up the good work!

3 gameplay videos and no sign of GK parries, i´m so happy :D

Re: FIFA 09 Discussion Thread

love the way when a goal goes in you see the keepers reaction, like slapping the floor or rolling over on his back.....quality

Re: FIFA 09 Discussion Thread

I really, really hope EA fix the night lighting. It's still too dark, although not quite as bad as Fifa 08 (where huge areas of the pitch were in almost total darkness).

Please fix this, EA. The floodlights were perfect in Euro 2008.

That's Martin Tyler, mate.

Definitely.

Re: FIFA 09 Discussion Thread

New ball physics looks great when passing. Looks really bad to me though when Ronaldo takes the penalty. Maybe it's the camera angle but it looks like he really goes for it hard but the shot looks so slow to me, just like in 08/euro, no power in it. Otherwise shooting looks good to me.

Here is a prediction: People will storm the FIFA boards complaining about too many cards in the game. We have seen that if you're late in a tackle, don't really try to take the ball or tackle from behind there will be a yellow card. The kids will have a hard time adjusting to this.

Pace seems super high but that is hopefully because of the style of the players. It's obvious the hold down sprint all the time, you can clearly notice every time they take the ball. I hope they punish people for doing it though, players shouldn't have energy to sprint so much.

I would love to see a AI vs AI match, it would probably look way more realistic with more build up play.

Re: FIFA 09 Discussion Thread

the corners now have serious whip and the gk's look less secure and more willing to come out to punch it I love that! the ball phsyics are looking class!

Re: FIFA 09 Discussion Thread

Guys I have a question. I have a notebook with a nVidia 9300 Geforce videocard... Will this be "oke" for the PC version of FIFA 09?

Thanks!

Re: FIFA 09 Discussion Thread

The is way too fast. It probably is because the game is on 'fast speed' and because of the video quality.

Someone complained about a screenshot where he saw the keeper just standing. That moment happens at 1m18s. You can see now the keeper just got up after diving, so that's not too bad.

Re: FIFA 09 Discussion Thread

is the option to play another game in fifa 2009?, you know instead of when the game ends to have to come to the menu again and go back in

*hope that makes sense chaps*

Obviously it also depends on the rest of the spec, but my wife has a laptop with an Nvidia 8600M GT and she can play Crysis smoothly on medium settings so I gotta assume if the 9300 is better than the 8600 you'll be fine :)

You mean having to go back to arena? I wish that is gone too.

Re: FIFA 09 Discussion Thread

I think the guy might be talking about the PES option to select new teams for a game after one has finished as opposed to just a rematch between the two.
