FIFA 07 (PS2/XBox/PC) - Current Gen

I wouldn't bother much if they really do that...

I have been playing FIFA 07 for PC for some days and that's definately a great game, but too easy, which is making it not a challenge anyomore... I need an hardest level of difficulty to play in... :D

I love feeling in control of what I do as opposed to PES5 and WE10 where I feel Konami is deciding what I do by either making the CPU players magnetic to the ball or ensuring my players react slower.
I just wanted to quote this as its more than true and at this point, I am downright sick of PES fanboys (yes thats what you are) saying they don't like FIFA because it is scripted. Wake up people, you are talking about PES when you say this, not FIFA.

Just played 2 straight hours of FIFA07. I disagree. I feel much more in control in WE10.

Anyway, anyone else noticed how in replays the ball is the size of a basketball?

I've played PES for almost ten years and it's getting to the point now where I'm not looking forward to the new versions. I love the gameplay, everybody does, but I've played all of the competitions in it ten years ago, it's never changed. Why play a game you completed (and played everybody you knew on it) eight years ago? Just because the players move better? It's my birthday next month and I've told everybody not to get me PES, which is the first time I've ever done that.

Even if the 360 FIFA turns out crap, even if I get bored of the current-gen version, I won't be buying Pro this year. It's had enough chances, the guys who make it make it for the Japanese market, who must love "Master Leagues" and all the other "fantasy" crap that's in it. I've given them my money for years on end, even buying the three extra Jap versions per year, so that they could take that money and hire people to add more content to the game. They haven't, and they've had long enough, so as far as I'm concerned, Seabass can go and jump in a lake. I'm not interested any more. I used to hate EA and love Konami, and now it's swapped around. At least EA are trying to catch up. PES6 is nothing more than a high-definition PES5 with shite goalkeepers, if WE10 is anything to go by.

The online aspect of PES6 would be the only thing to tempt me. But if they let you cheat, like they do in every other 360 game (the top 100 online players in Burnout for example all have a ping of about 7,532,642,164), then I'll stick to FIFA offline. At least the players aren't on rails and do *SHOCK HORROR KONAMI!!* what you press for them to do, without running the ball out in a straight line.

I'm not saying FIFA is the best game in the world, it's not and there are things that PES clearly does better. But even if PES had officially the best gameplay in the world, twice as good as any other PES before it, I've done everything the game has to offer already, single-player and multiplayer-wise, so I am completely uninterested in any new developments in the game until they delete the master league and add a real management mode. I would rather play nothing than the same game I've been playing since college.

Possibly the best post ever on this forum...

No

(You can alter all the stats but not the appearance, apart from adding things like wristbands and other accessories)

It runs like a dog on my system even after using the patch that deftones added on here. Plays fine on highest settings but as soon as the ball goes out of play it all goes wrong drops down to 1 fps...

I have spent 20 mins with technical support and they cannot get to the bottom of it. A dedicated specialist apparently will be getting back to me or something... and Fifa 06 ran acceptably.

I had the same problem, because of my anti-aliasing settings. Go into your settings (right-click desktop, click properties, click the last tab, click advanced, click the NVIDIA tab) and go to "Performance & Quality". Switch all of the options (yes, all of them) to "application controlled" (and I'd even change "system performance" to "high performance" if I were you).

This has solved all of my issues.

Ok, I'm sure many notice a slight stutter in the game, even with a powerful computer (its as if its not running at a smooth 30fps even). Well, that can be fixed and I have done so(I hope it works for you also, it should as I tested it with a couple different computers).

All edits have been done in the "cfg_pc_h.ini" file found in
"Program Files/EA Sports/FIFA07/data/cmn/" I have only edited the config file for high graphical settings (so only use it if you have a machine that can run high pretty well already). Here are the changes.

Changed RENDER_RATE_MODE from 7 to 2 (this makes the game run smoother when you make long passes or any time the camera moves to follow the ball, you'll love how much smoother it is).

Changed the entire LOD section of the file. Think of this like Juces' LODMixer for PES, only its been done for FIFA 07. The changes I made here will keep the players looking the same far away as they do close up. No more disappearing long hair, kit logos and numbers, fingers, etc.

Well, here is the file, have fun :) (Remember to make a backup of your original file before using mine incase the file doesnt work well for you and you need to revert back to the original)

EDIT: New download link as old one @yousendit.com somehow doesnt work anymore..........

Hey that's very cool, I tried it but my computer doesn't run high settings very well, you think you can do one like this for med settings?

I also have another question, how come I cant select nike/adidas etc boots when I create a player? I only get those ugly EA boots. The game is pretty good, could be and has been worse.

FIFA 07 is a good game fullstop. I cant understand how people say they feel more in control with WE10.... your players feel like they are on rails/ CPU Assisted most of the time! its annoying.

literally fixed things for one minute!

Then it all went wrong during the game, thats the best the game has looked since i have had it,, the intro looked amazing and then BAM! back to normal!!

Why am i suffering so much

I've spent the whole day farting around with the config files and have yet to play a single full game. It starts off ok but gradually the lag sets in. My ATI drivers are all fully uptodate and I can play more graphically intense games without any problems. I don't think I've had this much hassle with a game since the old days of DOS where you had to configure everything. I've followed all the advice available but haven't struck lucky so far. I was really willing to give Fifa a chance this year, I guess I fell for the hype. At this rate, I'll probably trade the game in over the weekend. I feel very let down and disappointed. :(

The tiny bits of gameplay that I have managed to play haven't really impressed me that much anyway. With the speed set at slow, the game still feels too fast and arcady, end to end stuff with no real midfield build up attack. The difficulty concearns me also. I've only scored a few goals so far but a couple of them were beauties. It just doesn't feel right somehow. I thought that it would at least take some lengthy practice before the Matt Le Tissier efforts would occur.

I'm truly hoping that if I can get the game sorted that my opinion may change, although with my current dark mood induced by EA I'm quite tempted to sling the bloody game out of the window :)

I'll probably feel better in the morning ;-)

After playing quite a few games of FIFA 07 i atually liked it. Even though i am a Pro Evo guy i especially liked how they incorporated the Finesse shot. Also the COMMENTARY IS STILL AMAZING, the goalie saves are great and the first touch button(joystick) is still fun to use.

Overall I really enjoyed playing it, and will keep on playing it.
(why cant Konomi incorporate those things into their game?);)

The Finesse shot is Konamis invention.

Well it seems like we are not in a minority in regards to this lag problem.

Why has it been released in this condition, it must have been one lax beta test!

Right had a few more games today, had enough already, beating "the shite" 4-1 on world class level, without having to get out of 1st gear, there just isnt any depth to the on field part of this game for me, sure there are loads of nice little tricks, but you dont need them.

After a few games its litterally one way traffic, ie kick off attack, get a shot on goal either score or miss, if you miss keeper takes goal kick, you win the ball and start another attack which nine times out of 10 lead to another shot on goal.

Its like that the whole game, only had the game a day and this is playing on world class.

They have got a lot of the onfield aspect much better than previous games, and it does have a nice feel, but the shitty AI lets it down big time, they goto the effort of putting all these leagues in, and not bother to make it hard to beat on the field, whats the fucking point?

One of the great aspects of pes was that at times it was fucking hard to get a goal and even a shot on goal, and that it was crucial that if you got a chance on it you took it, but on fifa you dont really care if you miss cause you know your going to get another 10 within a couple of minutes.

They are going in the right direction with the feel of the game, but to me its still a very poor on field experience, not gonna judge it on the management aspect of it, because basically i cant be arsed with all the shit, leave that to the proper nerds to rip appart ;)

mattpj - If you ever manage to sort your lag problem out I'd be grateful if you would post how you did it. I'll do the same.

Regards

Erm i've got this on rental and i'm not realy impressed at all, EA are not even remotely close as in catching up to konami in gameplay terms.

The game is too rigid and there is a lack of freedom, i've been absolutely drilling into the gameplay and I can't see what it has got to offer.

Shooting, passing and crossing are all poor seriously, goalkeepers? I burst through 1-0n-1 and they just stand there?

The good things about fifa of course is the variety of modes, music & manager sim, but why the lack of international teams?

It would help EA to properly revamp the whole engine instead of borrowing from konami.

Couldnt agtee with you more its just too damn easy and the feeling you get when you score isnt as great with Pro Evo but mind you EA's attempt on this years FIFA is suprisingly half decent.

I know that this thread is for the PS2, XBOX and PC versions of FIFA 07 but I was wondering has anyone picked up the game for the PSP? I'm just curious because I'm thinking of picking up the PSP version myself since I've been hearing positive news abou this game.

However there is one question that I have that will for me determine whether or not I will get this game. I was wondering if the new trick moves that are in the console and PC versions of the game are also in the PSP version. I ask this because there are some moves in the game I have wanted to be able to do in a football game for so long and now I see that they're in FIFA 07, but if the PSP version doesn't include this then I'll just stick with the PS2 version.

If anyone can answer this question whether or not the trick moves are on the PSP I would greatly appreciate it. Peace.

I'm enjoying the game, I still like to play my pes5 though cos its more relistic, the game runs fine on my pc but I do have a decent pc, but sometimes when your going through the team management it can run slightly slow, all in all I'll give it 7/10, nice try EA, the online play is great though, 9/10. :)

i have the psp version an there are some tricks on it another thing i notice is that some transfer's aren't one ie. cole still at arsenal aswell as reyes an gallas still at chelsea and arsenal have red socks instead of white

Apparently there's compatibility between the PS2 and PSP versions; anyone know whether this means full leagues on the go or crappy little features like with PES?
