So they've been working on PES 2022 for 3 years. And have been using UE4 to build it. And it will then be one of the very first games to use UE5, because Hellblade does not even have a release date yet and that is the only non-Epic game to be announced as an UE5 game.
Right.
All these 'Konami Insiders' are jokes. And they do a terrible job at supporting the community by feeding them BS every chance they get. BS that sounds like really bad fanfiction to most people who know any better. Nowhere does Konami state that they are using UE5 for PES 2022. Just that they are using Unreal. It could be UE3 for all we know, games are still being released using it.
Btw, can anybody explain to me how, all of a sudden, the PS4 and Xbox One can't handle UE4? Seeing as curent-gen PES will continue to use a gimped Konami engine that does not have support and has not been improved or updated in however many years. Seems odd. Also seems odd how they have been building it on UE4 for 3 years and have not been able to release a game using it, so far. I mean, even Bloodstained is running on UE4 and that's a small, crowdfunded Metroidvania game. Konami couldn't figure out how to get PES running on UE4 for the past 3 years? The PS4 and Xbox are just that outdated huh. The next-gen Pro Evo must be a massive upgrade, even current-gen consoles can't handle it. They must be animating and modeling every single person in the crowd individually or something.
I'll have to say I'll be extremely impressed with Konami then. Remarkable turnaround. But I'll be impressed even if it's not UE5, because UE4 will finally give those underfunded and overworked people at their offices a chance at succeeding, by having an engine that helps them instead of hindering. I don't know how good support for UE is in Japanese, but I'll assume it's gotten pretty good considering the amount of Japanese companies that are now using it.
