This is a pointless argument - its about taste.

Its all subjective

eFootball, despite its many faults, is actually much more easily moddable gameplay wise

Some like PES 21, some like eFootball

I know it's fashionable to make jokes about this game, but I think it's pretty fucking awesome. I'm playing exhibition, full manual.
The last update made the shooting feel rewarding and meaningful, there are lots of new animations and way more variety in the last third of the pitch. The tactics actually work. Players have individuality.
Passing is the best in any football game I've ever played.
Does it lack offline modes? Yes.
Can it feel rudimentary at times? Yes.
Can the graphics be better? Yes.
But does it give the "one-more-game" feeling? For me, it does. And little else matters.
Give it a chance, it might steal your heart.

I dunno about steal my heart. More that it brings out the worst of my ego tbh. I feel like i wage war agains ths bastard cheating AI on legend especially.

I think is time we setup some manual leagues. Maybe I should setup a thread for it or just everyone list their steam, PS or Xbox tags if interested.

I've spent a lot of time on both PES 2021 and enough time each edition of efootball since 2022.

At first I feel efootball for the first 2 editions at least while primarily solves PES 2021 biggest issue in terms of player movement by eliminating the 'TRON RUNNING' engine flaw which plagued every single Fox Engine PES title I was just too primitive tactically compared to PES 2021. Now efootball is just plain evil as if Konami actually opened up the authentic team part of the game and 15 minute matches, realistic stats only plus some incentive for a cup, league or master league. You see this game really is the standard for football gameplay as the base it the best! the base shits on everything football game before it especially efootball 2027. Its superior!

BUT a Big, BIG BUT sadly!

If I was to sum it up it's like full psychopathy asshole version of Lamine Yamal! One you see it and play it, its so obviously going to be the best but the attitude just stinks you hate it.

Please understand the mechanics the only way to even play the game at some level of realism is ONLY exhibition matches. Anything that touches Dream Team, all the realism is thrown right out the window due to fantasy like stats. A mode purely about money and addictive incentives to keep you spending on cards with the more powerful your cards, the easier it is and more the script helps you.

For example back in the day stats went from 1 to 99 per ability. The gameplay now is broken into 2 types where Authentic is instead 1-90. So if a player has 80 for any stat it like having a 90 back in the day. Dream Team allows you go beyond 100 for stats literally designed to be frantic arcade, cheese style gameplay where players are alien level fantasy good (Play Crazy). Its an absolute disgrace because it waste so much potential just on repetitive cheesy quick games that even people that like playing online and have paid $1000s for cards are fed up and annoyed. The big issue is there is just nothing to do but burn your credit on more players and cards. Konami do not want to invest a cent on anything else into the game because its so much money from such little effort they don't see the return on investment funding the team in bringing Master League back! They have to understand this model is still obsolete and will drive even your core playerbase new crowd away by being stale and not offering enough outside of Online ranked sweat.

They are building this game for a crowd of people who care not a realism, who just want their dopamine hit of being 5 people in row online playing Long Ball Counter with their Credit Card FC team to brag to mates. This is the year the glass ceiling is hit. Lots of people like this gameplay a lot, many FIFA player cant go back its seen as so much better and more rewarding but it will fail and die unless there is more. the gameplay i feel cannot move forward unless it can properly explored with modes offline and even online Authentic content and tournaments

The best way to see the potential is to figure out a way or use sider on PC to watch the CPU vs CPU play against eachover. I'm big on this for PES 2021 which is awesome and I continue to enjoy it but it doesn't even hold a candle to efootball when watching CPU vs CPU because it suffers from Tron Running! This is why in PES 2021 you have weird things will always happen like CPU will run down the wing, stop abruptly and cross with his weaker foot. There is no coding for the AI to understand how to move in 360 directions on a gradient between running normally and full 100% sprint. When you hold R1 to sprint the Tron zips into full sprint, yes you can tap it aswell but the animations where never built for it to be smooth. This goes waaay back to Kojima getting fired from Konami before PES 2014 release. when the PES team took the Fox Engine they expected I believe Hideo Kojima to keep developing it at Konami and hand them upgrades to deal with this Tron Running issue but he was fired and where were stuck with just modifying the base Fox Engine build they had in PES 2014 till PES 2020/2021 when they finally moved to another engine which they solved the issue with gradient sprinting, also for the CPU to understand that and be able to take you on properly and utilize space way better than in PES 2021.

Which is why PES 2021 feels on rails where players and especially the CPU in all its movement there's no gradient from normal running to full sprint speed, creating the 'Tron effect'. Absolutely no patch or mod will fix that. Its just how PES 2021 is. PES 2014-2021 are pass & shot dominant games like PES 5 where I'm more scared of a Bruno Fernandes or Haaland from range with a perfect pass or with a bullet shot or header killing me than Messi dribbling me. Efootball it doesn't matter who it is , if he's a dribbler, if he's got traits which make him a trickster he is a massive handful to deal with which I've not had to worry about really since maybe PES 2017 PC and before that PES 2012/2013. As someone whos played Center Back and Full Back a lot I love it. While on Superstar and that aggh Legend, so evil its still enjoyable a realistic challenge to shut down tricky dribblers.

Finally even on Dream Team one thing this game is simply the best is player ID is just off the chain good!!! It's the games best gameplay aspect for me, even in Dream Team. By luck i got a 103 rated 2001 Era Francesco Totti and where I playing with him is a joy, it's scary at times how lifelike everything about him is. The Classic number 10 train aswell guy just finds spaces, drifting, his passing range is unbelievable and some of the goals I've scored with him, especially dipped shots, chips and even CPU score are just beautiful. Same with the AC Milan 2008 Ronaldinho I go. Just an absolute joy and what I like about efootball is wow players do feel lifelike with their ID and it forces you to actual think football at all times in getting a system to suit you players. Unless you play like a rat with LBC tactic online

Anyway. I feel efootball must have Master League and more proper offline & online or all football gaming remains doomed really for the next few years. EA is just not worth talking about or anything else until they have an engine that can compete with this. But this bloody evil efootball thing is killing itself with greed. So its sad times man, despite the great things this game can and should do!

I will be back PES 2021 tonight too with more tacitcs but the livestream there on just primative league mode is the future we need to be built upon. This isn't hardcore simulation settings, just League mode 10 minute games and some matches will be on legend where the AI play like aliens.
