eFootball (All Platforms)

What a pathetic even that was... the 30th anniversary of Winning Eleven, it's a big deal, and what do we get? A bunch of cards that'll become irrelevant in a year when the next update to eFootball comes around and that content is lost completely. How do we still not have Master League or other offline modes in this? Not even an editor for the badges and kits? It started with eFootball 2022 and we're going to eFootball 2026 soon, this makes no sense to me still.

Do we have any information on Konami's profits?

Is this model genuinely better than what we used to have? I don't buy it, the PES name, the Winning Eleven name, were a big deal, and eFootball started out in a genuinely pathetic manner back in 2021, it still looks poor graphically, most kits and badges are fake with no way to fix them, and it's still a title that most people seem to mock when it's brought up... was it actually a success for them in the long run? If not, why do they insist on it after all this time?
 
Hard capitalism isn't enough anymore. It requires a quality product to sell to the consumer.
Their new method is to make the lowest effort possible in the actual product,
& instead focus on marketing & manipulation of a new young generation of gamers.

For us, the loyal WE/PES enjoyer, they have lowkey told us for 5 years, "we don't want or need you here anymore."
The win/loss calculations have all been done.

The AI will replace 9-5 workers, making pretty picture cards & stat changes. It can simultaneously be the support platform,
AND send out bots in social media to gaslight any ciritism.

Enjoy it while you can suits. Because in reality, every action has an equal & opposite reaction.

With all respect, how can anyone be surprised about this? I am saying the same thing for the last 4 years: Konami LIED to us the fans, when they released PES 21 for 30€ (which was in fact just a patched PES 2020) because they were focusing on the next gen PES. But in reality their plan was always to release this sorry excuse for a football game and they just wanted to take money out of our pockets one last time.

Nothing Konami does since then should be a suprise to anyone.
 
There’s a video about the event on the main menu of the game that you watch to claim 1000 efootball points that shows the Twitter comments about no master league, that is a strange thing to show.
 
If the level of effort that went into this big grandiose 30th Anniversary they were promoting isn't indication enough, then just give up hoping now. They're like an ex wife, you loved them so much at one point in your life but they've changed & not the same person anymore.

We've just got to accept Konami doesnt take offline gaming seriously & it's not a priority of there's.

However, the utter contempt in the way in which they treat fans really irks me. They have pretty much disregarded the loyal fan base who have built the franchise up over the last 30 years.

At least have the decency to be transparent and communicate that you have no intention of delivering a game for offline players.

When the first eFootball trailer dropped, it was obvious. When the first major update feature list dropped, it was obvious. When the second dropped, it was obvious. This isn't a football game. It's a cash machine.

Anybody still hoping for a Master League or similar at this point is simply insane.

Whatever they add to this will have online-focused AI, just like FIFA, and will be broken and awful to play vs the AI, just like FIFA is now.

If you want to play an ML, download PES 5 and do it - and don't look back.

How often have we said about PES in the past, "the king is back"?

I have no doubt it will be huge in gigabytes, for some undecipherable reason! Maybe they will hide a couple of lines hinting towards Master League, like they have done before, most likely as deliberate FU to all of us! Also we might get a huge apology from admin....

Most of all though, it will be a huge waste of time!

The Konami event reminded me of Clowns or a funeral.

I'm not saying that EAFC26 will be great, but at least they're trying to create an offline simulation, which makes me curious but still not euphoric.

There's EA FC and there's UFL... It's still not a proper competition for eFootball gameplay. That's why eFootball lives on. Because there are people who prefer gameplay. And unfortunately, a large part of these people are still people who feel disappointed and cheated by KONAMI. If classic PES fans want to have a real impact on the game, they simply have to stop playing - even against their will, for the sake of a better future... Sounds too idealistic, right? No chance.

The only real chance that KONAMI will bring back offline modes, that it will start listening to the opinions of currently ignored players, is if a new football series with gameplay similar to or better than eFootball appears. But if we have an alternative that's as good or better, would you really want to continue supporting that company after all this time, knowing why they're changing? Honestly, given a good alternative, I'd just want them to die, even if they started offering something good. Their chance, their time for change is now, not when they are forced to do so by the market.

We're playing this crap for lack of a good alternative, but when the alternative comes along, it'll take it all. I hope so.

I've barely touched football games for 2-3 years now & I was really hoping for some positive offline news regarding efootball. Can't say I'm surprised to see Konami completely ignoring this portion of the fan base yet again. The writing was on the wall many years ago but they teased us with hope.

I'll admit, FC 26 does look promising but it's just never clicked for me in over 20 years.

Yesterday out of frustration & that annual late summer urge to play a new PES game I decided to whack PES 2018 on for old times sake.
I had an absolute blast. 4 hours in & I'm faffing around with option files & tinkering with settings like the good old days. For a nearly 8 year old game it holds up remarkably well compared to the Frankenstein efootball and is in many ways far superior despite its obnoxious attacking a.i.

I think I'll stick with an older PES title every few months from now on to scratch that football game itch. Who knows, maybe I'll play it for the whole year & pick another favorite next summer. PES 2013 I'm looking at you.

That's all very well but the people who care already aren't playing it, at least the vast majority, and the game is doing fine. The EAFC launch info and reaction has really opened my eyes to how much the football game landscape has changed. I'm truly shocked at the response to changes for "comp" mode which in my mind as a 36yo who grew up on PES, are absolutely awful for any game trying to replicate the sport. However, the vast majority are buzzing and i'm constantly seeing "they've finally listened".

The same exists with eFootball, I still think the fundamentals of the game are better than those of EAFC but the complete lack of content (and the fact it's basically a PS3 game) mean I play 1 or 2 games every couple of months and that's it. Nobody who wants the changes we're asking for is playing this game enough to affect decision making of Konami. They've made a decision on direction, implemented it and as much as it's annoying to us, it's working for them.

Even if you look on reddit for eFootball, the issues are less about what's discussed in here and more about the cards, type of cards and issues related to dream team itself.

The market either needs authentic mode to do really well, or a new IP to come in which is totally focused on providing a football sim (as much as possible whilst keeping the fun). They'll need to make a point of the fact this is a game for people who want to replicate the feelings of a football match virtually, not a competitive or dream/FUT game based on football. Their whole USP will have to be around being the CS to Val as an example.
 
When I was still in contact with people connected to the local Hong Kong Konami office (at least 5 years ago), I heard that myClub was making a lot of money (it sounded like at least 10 times the revenue from game sales). At the time, they gave an example of someone spending around HK$10,000 (around £1000) in a single week to draw players.

In the past, I wouldn't have agreed with bundling Master League and Edit Mode together. Even with just an Edit Mode, you could add kits for unlicensed teams in eFootball for online use (similar to what ePatch and PES 2021 Lite do now). However, Konami seems to have made no moves on this, which is speechless and makes one feel that they only care about making money from cards and have disregarded all other things enhancing the authenticity.

This year is the 30th anniversary and a World Cup year, which is why I was anticipating the return of offline modes.

Looking back at their old roadmap, the one they released in 2021, they've only just completed the things planned for Autumn 2021 with the recent version 4.4. The cross-platform matches and mobile controller support they wanted to do in Winter have likely been cancelled (because they need to run their eSports competitions on two separate platforms).
