eFootball (All Platforms)

I have no doubt that a lot of gamers (myself included) will download the game on Thursday and that Konami will be boasting the number of downloads days/weeks after. Konami’s concern should be how keep this “new audience” they’re targeting interested for the long term.

I've been thinking more about the release we'll be getting on September 30th, most specifically the 9 teams available for friendly matches, which I find ridiculous, and the more I think about it the more ridiculous it sounds.

Since the main offline modes won't be coming for a while, I imagine that most of us will only download eFOOTBALL at first to play a couple of friendlies, to get a feel for the gameplay and direction they're going for. I can't see any reason why they wouldn't allow us to play as all of the teams in the game, or at least most of the ones from the top european leagues. I know that for PES Lite having few teams available was the standard, but there was a reason for that, it was to not take away from the value of the full game, but that doesn't exist anymore, this download is the full game.

Now, I know what many might be thinking, the reason we can't play as all of the teams is because they're not ready yet, since the game is clearly unfinished at this stage and we'll be getting something that's more of a demo than a full game, fair enough, but the main appeal, the only substancial thing one will be able to do in this 1st release is playing the new MyClub, or Creative Team, something like that. This is the mode that has all of the packs, the squad building card element to it, and for it to work it needs a player database, surely when you open a pack you'll be able to get a player from a team that isn't one of the 9 available for friendlies. Also, these kinds of modes ask you to choose a real life team to use as a base, so your team can have a crest and kit, surely you'll be able to do that aswell, right?

So, if we take those things in consideration, we must have the players in the game's database, alongside the club's crests and kits, so why aren't the clubs implemented in the friendly match mode? It doesn't make any sense, unless when people download eFOOTBALL to play MyClub/Creative Team they only get to choose from 9 clubs to use as a base, and can only get players from those 9 clubs, now that'd be hilarious.

We know koinami has been shiting on themselves, but this is not true. The firs release which will endure from 30th september to 11th November, will not have myclub, or creative teams or whatever they will call it, it will only be added on 11th November along with the 600 Teams (and player database). That is why you only can use the Pachinko/gacha/casino pack they are selling on that specific date.

So the game will launch as a demo. Millions will download it for free. A massive chunk will stop playing when they realise it'll stay a demo for the next month or 2.
A fraction of those that stopped might dip back in when the new myclub gets rushed out. If the mode is anything like previous years, then most of them will sack it off after a couple of weeks and never return.
Fielding an entire team of superstars before a ball is kicked in your 1st match screams short term vision. Only improvement on that is to play 'pay roulette' for high 90's rated or legends. Exhibition match, exhibition match, exhibition match etc, etc. F*ck away off.

If they made something based on the fantasy football team selection structure (wage capped), at least that would add some challenge and fun. Plus make use of 99% of the player roster that will never be seen or used otherwise.
Guarantee the player base would be larger for longer.
I've always had the most fun on pes using a majority 3 star team, then adding 2 - 3 world class players into the mix.

Challenging combined with fun is more addictive to the masses than pay to win microtransaction.

We already had that, well sort of, it was Called MLO in PES 2011, and it was really really good, since for you to have Messi, or Ronaldo you had to grind the hell out of the game, and even after you managed to achieve those players, you needed to play really well, so you could win all matches, in order to have money to maintain all that stars on the team. But that mode dont gave Koinami profit at all, so they just left that out and went for the myclub shit.

Could you imagine the shock if the game actually is decent?
I know better to know that this will most likely not be the case, but being a PES fan for so long, and frequenting these forums on a daily basis, there is always a piece of my younger self in me hoping....
Good one^^.

There is some tiny little spot in me that asks....what IF?

Maybe...it´s just very bad PR and they are just too dumb or too lazy to show us some real footage.
Maybe there actually is a good game under the hood and they just missed uncountable opportunities to show it.

I mean, what have we seen? Crappy off-screen videos by two lads with quite a bad playing style, probably R2 spamming kick n rush crap with crappy settings on a crappy camera (I don´t like that duel camera at all).
I never really have been thrilled about videos watching other people play, the last years.
Once I have played it myself, I knew whether the game was good or not.

Maybe...that new controls...are a learning curve and once you´ve on it, you actually can enjoy it.

I´m not sure about the defending system, btw.
I mean, I always liked the current defending. But to be honest, often I caught myself pressing down X and sometimes X and Square, to defend automatically.
I didn´t do that always...but quite often.
But I wouldn´t have completely change it, but maybe just reduced the effect or something.

But maybe...the manual defending (what people keep calling it) brings another positive gaming experience.
But then again, this reminds me of playing FIFA 17, where online gamers, dribbled through my entire team from the kickoff and I couldn´t do nothing about it, since teammate pressing and chasing down the player have been too uneffective.

Guess we´ll know soon...

Ah, I see, thanks for clearing it up, I really got things mixed up there a bit, so I apologize.
I guess the 9 teams fiasco really is due to the whole thing still being in the oven then, it's still baffling in it's own way, this release looks like it'll be underwhelming at its best, or a complete disaster at its worse, only time will tell, just a couple more days before we can finally download this thing and give it a shot, hopefully it turns out ok.

Wait, you can "preload" a game before release (a free game, with 9 teams and no modes) if you pay for a player pack that you may not want & can't use until much later after release? If true, this game is transitioning from a network test to an IQ test. Imagine paying to preload a free game. 🤣

Edit:
It's true! Found it on reddit. Only reason I wasted a minute to google it is because I couldn't believe it. What do you expect? It's not a charity! SET FOOTBALL FREE!

"There are several animations of imperfect interludes and playing there are bugs, for example a player in the net stopped while he was going to get the ball, forcing me to restart the game."

lol
plus im 100% sure they planned to ditch ML and talk all this nonsense now because of the backlash

summed up perfectly! :APPLAUD:

That classic movie, Reals knows. Needs absolutely to re-watch it (it was the year when the movie was out, so a long time)
Too much scenes like this i don't remember at all.
But in English with french subtitles (don't think i will found it)

That's the future, in some country at least. Tons of TV reality shows with brainless people, and youth identifies to them, with their 15 vocabulary words... At least in America, and French. Belgium a bit less, i think there's enough "social case", people aren't dumber... But depressed. The biggest percentage of people using meds for anxiety and depression in Europe too... I think we got enough lol.
Sorry for the O.T.

This game is f**king disgusting, Konami disgust me to the core. I truly hope this game bombed to hell but chances of that are low because the majority of people that are going to play this abomination are bunch of mobile players who don't even give a sh^t about the franchise to begin with.

Sad that some people are so obsessed with getting it first rather than getting it right, to the detriment of their wallet and benefit of Konami's.

Or are desperate to play anything football related that they would actively play something that is far worse than anything served up so far in the last 10 years.

You can do what you like.

But when you do, you have justified Konami's decision making, whether you like it or not.

I hate Fifa FUT and microtransactions. Exclusivity. I would like to boycott it by not buying Fifa. But i buyed all versions until it became trash.
Because we're not in a war dude. If the game is good, then i don't care about the direction choosen.
Also, it's free to try at least. As long as i found a game good to play, and modes that suits me...

I like PES since the 2017, even if i don't liked that much the 2018 and 2020 at the start / but more playable than the other one to me at least.
I won't private myself to play it if i found the game cool.
Edit: is there's a Bloodborne 2 with a kinda system to make money... Don't ever think a second that i will boycott it. I'm a super fan of that game, and From Software overally. We all live once. I take what i want, that doesn't mean i'm agreeing with all. I just don't care, that's all.

Personnally that kind of "you got to choose your camp" post have nothing to do here. It's not like Konami is making working childrens by force or whatever.
I don't found their direction worst than a paid game with micro-transactions + DLC in more.
Well i'm trying to stay polite honestly...
BTW i can't buy any pack, i live in Belgium, and i don't want it. I think boycotting what you don't want is enough. No one force you to buy players packs.

Edit 2/
And also, from what i saw, gameplay only (not bugs and glitches) in game, played, and regarding physics etc. there's a good potential, just too much bug, missing animations transitions etc. I'm not desperate to get a new football game at all.
And i like the change with R2, the choice they made. So why not? But NOT until the game will be truly finished, or there's no Edit mode. I won't ddl it. in two days for sure except if someone said "there's edit mode on it" which is 95% sure it won't be

It s sad where this franchise is going, i was watching a official gameplay trailer now and the way the nets behaved it s even worse than pes 2021, i m glad the other game gets these things right

But does that make them revenue. The Download stat is just something they can highlight on twitter and during their meetings, the invenstors at the company only care about the profit the game generates.
Yeah, I doubt the download stat is the be-all and end-all.

I think this attempt to foist blame onto customers is wrongheaded to begin with. The whole "vote with your wallet!" crap. It's jumped up nonsense, that lays the blame for predatory corporate behaviour at the feet of people just trying to get on.

I've not spent a penny on myClub; I never will. I don't carve out a special space of moral condemnation just for those who do though. Not because (another annoying refrain you hear too much) "it's their choice what to do with their money", but because I recognise they aren't the architects of this problem and individually they can do nothing by swimming against the tide. Legislators, big publishers, and uncritical media organisations – these are the proper subjects of ire.

Yeah i don't think neither it's like on YT vids that makes you money. A F2P or a Demo don't create money. Who cares about the number of download?
It's just a way to talk about their game, and promote it "Do you see how many ddl? What are you waiting for, try it then!"
I ddl 2 version of PES Mobile, and played at one a half time just to see how it was, aswell as Pes Club Manager. About the second it was just to get stat of a J-League player who wasn't on the Live Update weirdly, for my J-League O.F.

There's a big gap between numbers of DDL and numbers of people playing really the game/mobile or not. But one thing is sure : publicity everywhere on PES Club Manager, that's how they got their money i suppose. Like every Mobile game "if you want the game publicity free, it's 14.99 euros"

But we don't see that on the F2P console version so it's all focused on packs, and DLC to buy. Well probably some publicity with "notifications" i suppose. Just one thing, the notifications annoyed me since 2 years with their "events" i don't care at all, and can't switch it directly or disable notifications.

Edited / Sorry wasn't the point, i talked about import/export and O.F. stuffs... We'll see, i prefers saying nothing

is it jumped up nonsense? if no one downloaded these games or tried them and actually did take a disciplined approach to these practices THEY would take notice because they would understand theres no market.

You are saying you don't spend a penny on my club, but will you spend a penny on buying other modes this year? If you do, then bam! Konami are justified in their approach.

You can't come in these forums and complain about stuff in these games then back them by giving them your time, money and energy.

Everything I've seen from this game, the footage, the trailer, the promotions, the roadmap has all been utterly sub par and everyone knows it. yet you still have people in here willing to try it. It doesn't make any sense to me. its also the reason I was having a go at Spoony Pizzas, TTB and The Knight, because their stance has changed and its changed because they make money or have some sort of sponsorship going on their videos and they make coin.

Doesn't sit right with me, thats all. Everyone loses out really.

Completely missed my point.

its about long term development. If konami justify their decisions by how many people have downloaded their title, then they will not change.

Its not a hard concept to grasp at all.

Well, your point is a bit confusing. And "they will not change" about what? We already know there will be update the game so > there will be changes.
Now we know the F2P system will probably remain > they won't change it.

I don't get too much your "if" in there. The plan seems to be the same, i don't get the justification about "not changing".
Their plan is like the article said, updating the game again and again.

There's a "if", it's in some year when or IF the game will become obsolete on console, they will got to separate in two the famous annoying cross-gen including mobile on it. They probably already discussed about it, but we're not in their office.

For anyone who might be interested there’s gameplay footage that appeared yesterday. Looks like a cpu match between Juve & Arsenal. Good quality & the frame rate is smooth; it’s PS5 footage.

Yes. That's why they really need to get something solid. Even unfinished, even if it's a Beta (not even want to call it "Demo") something that you can feel the potential future.
I won't try it. The article said it right. People won't see it with those eyes, as a Beta, so personnally i don't think they will totally fail, but they probably won't success at first and then a bit more after the "real" update. But they'll stay at the same point, won't gain a penny in more than with their old system by selling versions + PESmobile.
