seems like a good update to me

It’s ultimately down to a 1v1 quirk on EA’s end. The defence simply won’t engage and tackle when you’re using controlled sprint / strafe dribbling. They will contain but not fully engage. This is a mechanical bug. I haven’t spent any time on it in fc26, but I would imagine it will be the same. Suggestion - don’t do it.
Other suggestion: Don't buy the game and support EA for ignoring an obvious gamebreaker which has been reported a million times.

Hm, no mention of Authentic Mode.

Do all of the gameplay changes apply to both modes, or none of them apply to Authentic Mode?

What if none of the Authentic Mode players complained about e.g. offside awareness - but out of nowhere, offsides disappear (and the game has even FEWER stoppages)?

Who decides which will be a positive tweak for Authentic and which will make it less realistic (i.e. authentic)...

There's a lot of unanswered questions when it comes to this new way of doing things.

------------

EDIT:

Another example of how "scripted" rather than contextual the game is (and I hate that word because it's misused constantly) - but you can "feel" that scripted nature in every pass and shot (i.e. that your input is barely meaningful and the end result decided for you).

(The irony being that the "competitive" influencers scream "AI defending" but don't care pass accuracy and shot accuracy is so heavily assisted.)

When a fix is issued for this (which I'm sure it will be), it will just lower the "script" power - as opposed to making the shot accuracy contextual in any way.

This is my biggest fear for the future of Authentic Mode - can this be PROPERLY fixed (i.e. based on input, physics and context) without a complete rewrite of the underlying code?

One more random thought. Something I'd absolutely love to see is EA running one giant poll for all players, asking everyone (or even just FUT players):

"Would you rather the game was more realistic, or had 9-9 scorelines? Which is more fun?"

I'd be interested to know how it came out.

Perhaps if they ever allow Authentic Mode online in some form or another, the usage statistics might point in one direction or the other.

Every year we try to fix a broken product that EA doesn't want to fix, nor do they care about fixing. Year after year they promise to give fans the real feel of football. They never deliver on that promise. The "Authentic" gameplay is just a marketing gimmick. They care about FUT because that's where they make their money. Also, what happened to adjusting the game speed? Did they remove that feature? Guess I'll wait for mods.

I think 18 is where it started. Certain passes started to feel on rails. Got worse from there...
What FIFA game was it where the ball stopped being a free 'enitity'?

I'm playing FIFA 14 and the ball is so loose. There are deflections, missed controlled touches, loose passes, scuffed shots and it's all because the ball is free to do it's thing and isn't on a pre-determined laser guide to the nearest player who magically instantly controls it.

If the ball was freed up, the game would straight away be 50% more enjoyable.

Hm, no mention of Authentic Mode.

I took this as Authentic updates?

Improved cases of unexpected heavy touches when sprinting in wet weather Authentic gameplay based on your feedback.
[Gameplay] Heavy Dribble Touches on EA SPORTS FC Tracker
Improved instances of Ground Passes unexpectedly falling behind the intended receiver.
Tuned difficult to perform Driven Ground Passes to be less accurate, for example, first time Driven Ground Passes taken at 180 degrees.
Addressed incorrect shooting animations that sometimes occurred when attempting lace shots, resulting in unexpected behavior.

I don't understand why EA programmers don't fix this. When the player positions himself to defend, he looks like a crab. It's so ugly. :CONF:

I reported this issue directly to EA. https://survey.alchemer.com/s3/8401...de=QUOgAAk1MuIDzdA8HqrDeSdM6Iu-cDUE9KbYyhETAQ

You guys here have incredible knowledge, and I suggest you do the same. Only then can the game truly evolve!
My English is terrible, but I try hard and go beyond my limits.

FUT is the basis of all the problems this game has had for years now.

YouTube is full of streamers who only play that mode. If they were churning out goalless, midfield battles, I don't think they'd get the views.

The people who watch these streamers want to see ridiculous goals and plenty of them. They want to see the streamer lose their shit and say it's the worst game ever, then 2 seconds later come from 4-0 down to be 5-4 up. It's what is generating the clicks on the videos.

I don't see how you can have 1 game with 2 'different' modes. FUT should be a standalone game. It's basically Football fortnite.

I remember when my 2 lads were younger and played a lot of FUT. My youngest was about 8 when he first played it, he's 18 now, so we'd be looking at FIFA 15 or 16 that he first played it on. I would help him and play a few games, mainly when he had an all bronze team. I beat people with that bronze team who had a team full of superstars and special cards. Solely by playing football, because back then you could defend against silly skills, position players to stop pace abuse etc...

If I tried that now, I'd get annihalted about 15-0. That says all you need to know about the route the game went down and is currently at.

Finding it alright, got 3 hours left on the trail.
It's really weird, I don't have a counter showing my remaining playing time. And everytime I start the game I have to choose my favorite team and tick boxes of the informations I (don't) like to share, as if I start the game for the first time.

Still in the trial period. Thought I'd try the patch.

The AI score this against me. It feels even less natural than usual but I don't know why it feels so "off".

Watched the close-up replay...

.. Hypermotion - if this is Hypermotion's fault - just get in the bin.

Skating on the standing leg to deliver the perfect first-time shot. Hot mess.

These 3 touches from yoro are the core reason I can't get on with this game.

Firstly I don't know why the touch was so big, I wasn't sprinting although that could be on me for not using the right dribbling mechanic (that in itself annoys me). It's almost too responsive in this sense, the player turns before I've finished my input and before it's even physically possible.

Secondly, the way he's just able to manipulate the ball with both feet, under pressure and not lose any momentum or control is just ridiculous to me.

I want to be punished for bad touches/decisions not have the game break all laws of physics and move like a prime neymar

Make sure that your computer isn't overheating.. That could be an issue, which I solved with a program called Throttlestop.

LINK this might be helpful..
Thank you again mate, i use your setting on ultra graphic settings and with balanced power mode and temperatures are unter 50 °C. Is this really safe for hardware, can i use this Throttlestop programm permanently?

Just tried the new patch and the situation seems to get even worse - at least you don't even need to use controlled sprint or strafe.

One could hardly say i am exploiting the game. I did the following just by moving the left stick (LEGENDARY AI):

Discussing slider settings, animations and physics feels completely obsolete knowing the game in itself is dysfunctional.

It's bizarre how EA find this acceptable, I refuse to believe something like this isn't picked up on testing.
The other video with the skating one leg is another reason I won't touch this game. Id say a big part of each game is pre determined and it isn't hidden well either

No problem man. Well I can't give you a 100% guarantee mate but I've been using it for 2-3 years with no issues on my desktop PC (making sure I ONLY use the settings I described earlier).. But just to make sure, I ONLY turn it on when I'm playing a high-graphics game which heats up the computer, (I keep it off most of the time).

I only used it for a couple of months on my gaming laptop before I purchased the desktop PC, so I can't really speak for laptops, but on my desktop, as long as I turn it on only while gaming intensive games, it's been working really well. :)

Here is a guide in case you need more info. I'd advise not to tamper with it too much, only the minimum settings.. LINK

@etb10dmk @maruni74 might find this info useful as well. :TU:

It’s not worse since the update, it’s been like this for years since 1v1. CPU primarily ‘contains’ left stick movement only. There is also a kick off bug where the game takes a little while to ‘kick in’.

There are some things that can be done, but to be clear I don’t like these things either. It’s important to know that they’re very largely mechanical issues that EA need to sort out and they’re tied to a lot of the off ball / defensive mechanics unfortunately. It’s not simply just a case of ‘dumb defenders’ for example.

I've had at least four or five goals like that in maybe ten hours of pure football gameplay.

But that's not all.
Manager Career Mode is also completely screwed up. In my case, I had extended expiring contracts relatively early on in my career.
During the winter transfer window, one of my team's players (the best one) approached me and said he would like a higher salary and would like to negotiate.
I thought, no problem, I'd be happy to do that.
Well, what can I say? It didn't work. Because I had already had a contract meeting with the player this year. At least, that's what the message said when I clicked on contract meetings.
Then I received the first transfer requests for the player. But I wanted to keep the player. So I clicked on block requests. And yes, bad luck again.
Since the player allegedly wanted to change clubs, I couldn't block any transfer requests.
Of course, on deadline day, the player was sold.
I was able to sign a reasonably adequate replacement. But yes:

The transfer talks were also a bit, let's say, strange. First, I made an initial offer.
Then, for the most part, the initial offer did not seem to correspond to the conditions under which this deal was to be concluded.
This means that either the conversation ended immediately after the first offer.

Even if someone wanted to buy a player from me.

So there was no willingness to negotiate at all.
Or if, for example, I wanted to buy a player, I would make an opening bid. Then came the moment when the AI presented its point of view.

But that was totally bugged. Because every time I adjusted my offer to match theirs, the AI would raise its offer again.

That's not how you negotiate in my opinion, and I don't think it's ever been like that in the entire history of Fifa/EA FC.

All of this, i.e. gameplay, contracts and transfers, are fundamental things that simply have to work!

But EA fails completely in this regard. Unfortunately! And unfortunately, there is no viable alternative on the gaming market.

And unfortunately, we haven't heard or read anything about modding or modding tools yet.
At least, there's no sign that work is being done on it or that any progress is being made.

Among other things, I read on Discord that Fifer hasn't been in touch for two months.

It's all so sad.

FC26 is just a same every-year trash like FC24-25. Even visually, what is happening in this game is disgusting. If watch the FC26 gameplay video, and then watch the PES 19 or FIFA 18 gameplay video, this trashis not needed for nothing. I think it's better to use the time for good games than this.

These are the kind of comments that just get us absolutely nowhere. No detail, just a mass generalisation based on very little.

Played a few more games and I'm still liking it.

What has previously happened is the more I've played FIFA the more the flaws become apparent, alot of that for me was based off the fact I couldn't defend. Playing Winning Eleven back in the day my Master League and playing others was based on being tight at the back.

I'd spend ages playing friendlies against the top rated teams in the game, first working on not conceding and then building my attacking system. The fact that FC26 allows me to defend (to an extent) makes me be able to overlook a lot of other things. Will it post updates? fuck knows.

Right now the big two things standing out are players retreating when the ball is lost, which falsly creates a more open games instead of being able to pin the other team in, the second is the rigidty of the tactics and formations. I should be able to move players wherever I like, it's funny that being able to put a directional arrow on where you want a player to run is more simple but more tactical then any of the most recent systems. Didn't need 359 positional descriptions, could just put and arrow going forwards and diagonal and job done.

Since I've hardly played any football games in the last 6/7 years I'm also probably not very good at them anymore, so World Class is challenging enough. I struggle to create many open chances and then convert them so my games are low scoring affairs. The fact that I can;

Tell the difference between players
Defend, and have teamate press work
Make my DM sit (as good as FIFA 16 was seeing Dembele sprint into the box everytime was too much)
See the CPU pass, go long, dribble
Tell the difference between higher and lower rated teams
Build up attacks in different ways

makes it playable to me, I'm not concentrating on glitches and chopped animations, I remember Winning Eleven having those things as well. I've got 2 kids and no time, 22 years on from when I joined this forum. I'm just hoping that I can play this till this time next year, maybe even complete a season of career mode, without my players turning shit when it hit October like they used to in FIFA.

I really wanted to see if this game is salvageable before putting any time into modding it properly. Creating tooling for it has been a pain.

I think after an hour or so of digging, this is my early thoughts;

"Authentic mode" is a complete sham. What you have is the same as Competitive, plus some very small changes, like line gaps and small changes to physics here and there. Otherwise EA are fully reliant on sliders (again) to do all of the work, and they don't work lol

I switched back to "Competitive Mode" and started modding from there and was instantly getting better results. And to highlight, EA can do this, but for some reason, havent!

In my quick video of a 1st half below, you can see its fairly easy to get some of the major problems with the game fixed fairly easily:
- Animations smoothed and more planted (apart from the odd occurance)
- Pass accuracy is no longer 99% and players can quite easily make mistakes or it can go slightly wayward, not like a laser
- Physicality is back in the midfield (but not fixed entirely, especially the possession tackles, which EA should remove from the game)
- First touch actually matters and players can make mistakes
- Players are not complete gods of understanding where everything is, so nothing is immediate or "1 frame"

It just really annoys me that EA haven't gone anywhere close to this themselves. They added the entire authentic system and then just didnt bother. I dont get it.

These are the kind of comments that just get us absolutely nowhere. No detail, just a mass generalisation based on very little.
"Very little"??? The player spends 95% of the playing time on watching match gameplay. And what does he see in FC26? Cartoon about "football" with flying, skating, without physics, without weight of player and ball, without nothing that make game interesting, with high-speed gameplay like hockey. More older games don't have this things.

When I saw pc version, it feels différent than consoles version. The skating is worst, i can't explain why I have thid feeling.

I like so much this FC 26. Maybe I will be the only one😂 but on Anthentique mode, the game is better.

I have made a test against United. First game on classic gameplay, the other with Authentic gameplay. The speed, the flow, the CPU behaviour are better. The time that the CPU have to build his attack or défense, so see more crosses. I have 11 crosses in a game of 8 minutes by halftime! Never happen before.

My only problem is the lack of faults. My pad has vibration, I see a CPU arm on m'y shirt, but sometilhing invisible made that the fault didn't happen 🥶.

I will do my best to find a way to see that on the pitch.

I have post the videos on the slider's topic😉

This sums it up!

The production value in AI (Legendary AI) is so so low! Either the QA team is terrible or Developers just know they cant fix it once reported.
May be a third possibility: Its never being QAed lol!

Opposition AI is supposed to be the main thing as Authentic Mode and Career Mode should be centred around. Big JOKE this company!
