EA SPORTS FC 26

Seems like they’ve made the ‘competitive’ mode as uncompetitive as possible ffs. Why would you want more positionally responsible defenders in the authentic mode but not in comp?
From what I’ve seen on the FUT subreddit this year, online players seem to think good AI defending removes any “skill gap” and they would rather players stand there like statues, even if it means every game has 10 goals

Well @Chris Davies you got your wish to have a sim & casual mode, how different they will truly be is yet to be apparent, as usual these reveal trailers are 2 second jump cut sensory attacks that often conceal the flaws.

On the positive side the running looks a little better & midfield seems to be tracking back while defending more than they did on vanilla 25.

They claim they've improved keeper intelligence so I'm hoping that includes coming off they're line & not politely waiting for a striker to jog through on goal.

It would still suck but this would only be fair if AI attacking is non existent too. Why can the AI allow players to make runs but not allow the AI to let the defenders track those runs & cover spaces?

No wonder football games are in the mud. Surely tactical set up is part of the game? As is having players whose strengths nullify opposition or expose their weaknesses. Shambles.

It feels more like patch, than new game

But positives are separation of gameplayes ... lets just hope it not just different sliders, but actual animation speed.

Cannot judge until i see at least 4-5min of un-edited gameplay, and that is probably 2 months away.

Now I will just hope for the best

I really hope you can choose to play authentic in online modes as well. Seasons for example. Otherwise it’s a hard NO for me since I didn’t think there was any way to make the gameplay in online competitive modes any more unrealistic but I suppose they found a way…

If we had two gameplays, it's great.
Simulation mode from FC 25 was a test. EA want to go forward. It's that we all wanted for decades.

I don't know if it's real or pure marketing but if we have real inertia, no more moonwalk, clever Defenders and forwards, a free ball physics,I'm in!

As always, the proof of the pudding is in the eating - simulation mode was something I was really hyped for, but when the core of the game is designed to be a cartoon from the physics to the AI, you simply can't take that and make a PES-level football sim out of it.

However.

26's separation of gameplay is the only way (other than entirely separate games) that we get an actual football game out of EA.

We'll have gameplay videos soon and given how bad it is currently, I think it will be obvious without needing to play it whether things are good now, or whether this is just the start and it'll need another year (or more) to get to a real football feeling.

Does sure look like the keepers are still stuck on their line:

Is this me being overly positive, or is it good that EA appears to be trying to get players who like actual games to play like football to buy the game? Shows that there is money there?

When even the launch trailer lets you down, you know things are bad. Same game, just three new animations. Players still look like they're skating, and the body movements when dribbling are just weird.

I used to buy games like FIFA 16 at launch. Last week I got EA FC 25 with an 80% discount—and it looks like next year won't be any different, I can't pay more than $20 for this.

When I saw this At first I was frustrated because faster ping pong passing was back but after rewatched it again I noticed the meter under the players(it says authentic and competitive)as it moved higher so the speed of passing did.
So I guess they try to tell on authentic mode we will see realistic, out of target passes but on comp. mode everything will be automatic and fast.
I truly hope I'm right lol

Anyone who likes games to play like football and has eyes will not be buying based on that trailer 😂
Ah I've not seen it! Remember I tried to play FC 25 and god it was bad feeling. I was more thinking it means there could be a market for a future expanded simulation mode or a new football game entirely from someone else. Too hopeful though

We already knew it when Bayern ended their license with Konami, but the Allianz Arena is back with EA. Outside of Konami announcing a German team partnership to replace them, I would guess that makes all Bundesliga stadiums in the game

The trailer says one thing but the gameplay shown says another.
I didnt buy or even use my ea access 10-hours in fc25 and seems this one seems to be the same. interested in seeing what authentic mode is, but the 5 straight accurate ping-pong passing (including a backheel) doesn't look promising (not only speed but the accuracy). i wish someone in those tweets had addressed 1v1 defending , it ruins the whole experience seeing your defenders hunt butterflies while the attacker cuts thru them like butter.

FC 26 introduces two new gameplay presets, each built for a different way to play. Competitive is tuned for head-to-head action in Ultimate Team and Clubs, with faster passing, smarter keeper rebounds, and more direct control, while Authentic brings a true-to-football feel to modes like Career, featuring more positionally-responsible defenders, realistic corner success rates, lifelike goalmouth scrambles, and more.

lets hope this means more realistic defensive AI - and 1v1 defending its gone!

To be honest, gameplay in trailer from 41sec to 46sec look really good for me.

If whole game would be that fluid, i would say it is worth every $.

But, that is probably just small portion of game where everything just "clicked" and they recorded it.

My concern is Konami may sign Dortmund which would be a like for like in stadiums gained and lost, EA could lose Signul Iduna in FC26.

Unless Konami are planning to finally offer offline content & do somehting with their real world clubs, I wish FC would just remain the focal point of real world branding and just leave the fantasy stuff to UT & Dream Team.

I believe this new “Authentic” mode will be implemented similarly to how gameplay mods are currently handled.

When using FIFA Editor Tool to edit gameplay files, you can see there are specific profiles for Volta and the former Small-Sided mode, each with its own dedicated set of gameplay parameters.

I’m quite confident that gameplay differentiation will follow this same approach, which is far better than relying on a generic set of sliders as those have repeatedly proven to lack depth, feel too generic, and often end up breaking the gameplay experience.

I've been digging deep into gameplay modding using AI, and it's incredible how much you can transform the game. By just tweaking those files, you can achieve an entirely different and far more refined gameplay experience
