EA SPORTS FC 26 Sliders Discussion

wow these sliders really clicked for me last night.. Im still messing with the gameplay before I start a career mode but I played Celtic Rangers last night and had a 2-2 thriller that went to penalties with all kinds of variety and even some fouls. I tired the other sets floating around out there but these are the only ones Ive loved. I think the base authentic sliders are also fine but the others Ive seen are a bit odd on the feel pace and movement.

Ive seen some saying they want more acceleration and even switching authentic mode off and fair enough whatever people enjoy is fine but I think its a bit funny that people are striving for realism but also showing their had that they've been desensitized by years of arcade gameplay. Real football is sometimes boring and difficult for chances to come up. Aside from the lack of fouls you can achieve realism in this years game with this set but its how you approach the game that does a lot of the heavy lifting. Also knowing all the advanced controls and being good at the game helps with making runs instead of waiting for the AI to do it for you.

Im not sure how you did it but the feel and the touch with these is superb. The key I find is of course full manual but more than this people that complain about the jankiness of EAFC and the Fifa series in general compared to PES/Efootball that is more on rails need to realise that EAFC is super responsive but that dosen't mean you need to input a million things making your player go wonky. Ive always preferred PES because the weight and the feel but if you play EAFC simply and realistically if you look around before you pass and run a lot less it becomes super realistic.

You have to try and make the ball do the work and only input movement when attempting to do something necessary like dribble past or turn to create space. If you are constantly moving using speed burst and impatiently defending it will never settle.

Ill put mines here, been playin full manual with atletico madrid & cheltenham town, 15 min halves, tried to compensate between difficultys, full back positioning is 99 because since they removed wingback position the only go up when the nearest player have the ball, line height is 99 because defenses are very deep, line lengh is 1 so midfielders will defend even if the are not cmds.
If someone tries them please let me know how they feel.
I dont know if putting player based difficulty is realistic, players with better stats make more skills but it could be an 196 cm striker making 2 stars skill moves wich does not make lot of sense.

I have the feeling that the defensive line height works differently. If you put a low value the defense line go higher than an higher one.

Wow, thanks you so much. Your words are so nice, I didn't know if I deserved this.

Well I'm a football fan since 40 years.
I played so many legendary games and the state of footy games it's so depressing!

When I play FC 26 on Authentique mode the first time, it feels different of the others FIFA/FC

Ok it's too slow but the potential was there.
Usually i played 3 games and I try to find custom sliders.
After more than 15 games, the gameplay was great with flaws.

I try with these sliders to keep the feeling of Authentic gameplay. Not going back to FIFA 20 to FC 26.

So if it works for many people, I'm very happy to hear that.
The lack of faults and the ball freedom need to be fixed too but need more time or a fix by EA.

I will update with a V2 when the big patch will be out.

Changelog & Updates:

Here is a general summary of each Gameplay area and explanation of slider values chosen:

Player Speed
The approach here is knowing the CPU craves speed. So we give them that speed with the 38/40 discrepancy, but we balance it out by having the user be in advantage in the acceleration. This allows the CPU to be competitive in 1v1 situations, and attack with more prowess than before. Even with a higher pass error, the CPU can still create many chances and produce variety in their ball movement. The higher acceleration in favor of the User allows there to be some recovery from the CPU's speed as well.

Shooting
Some changes here in which we reverted the shot speed to 50, because we also raised GK ability to 50. There's less guesswork here, and the shot error will control what types of goals can happen. Example:

Passing
We raised pass speed, but we also significantly raised Pass Error to Version 1 levels because of how good it was before. The variety in the way the CPU passes is something that can't be ignored or underestimated. This keeps the game from being the constant rinse-repeat type of attacks and ball movement. Raising pass speed keeps the ball alive, which allows the ball to be free and produce a variety of type of passes.
►Injuries
Injuries continue to be hard to show up, so we've raised the value significantly in hopes to see a difference.
►Goalkeeping
As mentioned in the Shooting section, we reverted the value to 50 GK because it seems to be the most in-sync with 50 shot speed and brings in some identity to the different types of keepers. They are pretty elite as it is, but there is still some sense of anything can happen when a shot on goal occurs.

►Team Positioning
We continue some values from V1.5 beta such as the Line Height, but that's about it. We did stress test some other values for a more aesthetic slider look, but the results weren't as good as the changes we've found here.

Going in no particular order, the biggest change is the Width value from 55 to 45. This has been an absolute gamechanger. It allows the defensive structure to shift with the ball, rather than just be in the perfect goal-side position the entire time. This also allows the middle of the pitch to have more activity - and less penetration from simple moving in advance positions. Now the midfielders have to check or away from the ball carrier. The switch of play is there, but it takes a very good passer to make that type of switch with a long ball, etc.

The length was increased as well, but a discrepancy was needed to keep the same premise as before where the user has it in their favor since the CPU has the higher height value.

►Ball Control
We tested the FT Control value and tried to raise it, but the ball just popping up on the player is frustratingly consistent. We chose to raise the intercept error to the same value as ball deflection to just get more random moments, which creates just more dynamic moments - which is something FIFA has not always been known to have.
►Defending
We've opted to just keep this value at 49 because 50 is where we don't know if the tackle assistance works or not, but we don't want to miss out on the possibility it's doing...something. So 49 is where we are at. It feels like this slider is completely broken as there is no correlating animation that supports the values chosen.
►Overall
This is the most fun we've had with the game. I was personally looking at play with authentic features off as I felt that was more like previous iterations that we were used to (speed burst and DAA included) because the game had just felt so dead. However, the modifications here all make for an absolutely brilliant experience that allows the game to have ebbs and flows, chaos and dynamic play all around. A lot of the testers felt the same way, and I'd like to post what adoptedscouse reviewed:

"Played quite a few games with pinned set this morning & can only see good stuff from it, far more enjoyable. Played as a wide range of teams as well, premier league, championship, la Liga & wsl. Each game had times when both could win & lose on a single play or pass. Defenders are better than before, miss time you lose it, if no cover your done for, if cover you now have a chance of winning it again. Battles all over midfield as well. Also seen quick players leaving behind slower ones but only if you get that yard or so on them otherwise you’re looking to pass sideways or backwards. Never have I see. The cpu play balls back & sideways before looking for gaps to exploit, it’s so nice to see. Even had Chelsea who play a lot of ground short balls dink a couple over the top because it was the only option at the time. Was sceptical at shot power & heading going up but so far seen no stupid shot’s & goalkeepers are still making great saves as well as some really good goals. As for headers you a still do really good passing headers but if under pressure they aren’t as accurate which is just like real football."

I have played 4 matches, 3 of them were in kickoff mode: Al Nassr vs Al Kholood, Juventus vs Napoli, Real Madrid vs Atletico de Madrid, games were 3-0, 2-1 and 6-4 respectively, all of them in WC difficulty and with 8 to 10min halves. Then I played a match in career mode as Sporting vs Real Madrid UCL, 3-2, so I ended up winning all of the matches. Sliders felt really great in Al Nassr and Sporting games, game speed was right! This was the first time I've tried manual through passes and lob passes and it was pretty enjoyable overall. Header pass error being that high increased the game's randomness, these settings and sliders made the ball feel actually free a lot of times. Juve game and Real Madrid game weren't that enjoyable, the game felt too fast. Playing as Real Madrid made the game feel like it was on competitive mode lol, every player was a rocket and 10 goals was too much. Will test further with other 5 star teams, I guess they're just too overpowered. Also, goalkeepers felt underpowered in all games imo.

@Matt10 1.6 sliders, WC difficulty, 10 mins halves and playing Deportivo La Coruña in Segunda Division. Each game is challenging, especially with lower rated teams as an opponent. It feels little bit quicker than 1.5 beta

I have played some games on kick off and career mode/
No more fault, but this patch add more clever positionning for us and the CPU.
The ball didn't stick too much to the foot now.
A good update for me.

I'm coming to try your sliders, Saturator. I'll let you know tomorrow how they feel (Had to rage-quit as Inter Miami away at Atlanta United as they went 3-0 up after 30 minutes (one was a penalty, but still))
 
Version 1.7 in the works for the OS Sliders. Match played on World Class yesterday, 15 min halves. Wish there was a 12 minute option, but still a good game, required a lot of tactical adjustments.

I am having issues finding the game too easy even using your sliders, I am on Legendary, Assisted, is World Class more of a challenge or are you on manual?

I'm on a mix of semi and manual controls. I think both Legendary and World Class have been really challenging. Are you using the in-progress set 1.7 or the 1.6? 1.7 is the direction we're headed as it brings a good challenge overall. If using that version, what part is making it easy?

It was even earlier version I think, I stopped because while it was fun it made the game a little too open, was finding it too simple to put a through ball between the centre backs for a run on goal, I’ll try 1.7 then 👍

Yeah no worries, that's part of the issue I was finding too. I'll say that 1.7 is a tough one. I really wasn't a fan of the game before it, but now it's really taken the game to the next level. All about shifting defenses rather than just keeping them in one spot/width unrealistically, it makes ball movement variety something that FIFA 16 would be proud of.
 
Just finished a game in my Deportivo La Coruña career and 1.7 on World Class is very chellenging!
Lost 3-0 easly with Eibar (before that I was playing v1.5 and I won every game with planty of chances). Now with v1.7 is very hard to create a scoring opportunity (only 3 in this Eibar game - all missed the target). This slider set moving in the right directon!

It’s promising so far mate, was getting pressed a lot more in my first game against Leeds, managed a 1-1, will try more this weekend

I liked to see that finger tip save! 👌

Midfield actions seems to be a bit more prominent. Nice effort going for that lunging slide in the first 15 min.!

Also I’m a fan of your defensive gamestyle approach; I like to be patient and tactical as well.
