DJ Hero

Nah, its a shame. I'm still curious, but will have to wait for reviews for that price.

Can see why its so high - same as RB, the shipping costs will be much more than shipping a DVD case and with these peripherals, I'm sure they allow a large margin to cover returns etc.

Yeah it's more an Americanised DJ (sans Detroit) type theme going on I would imagine. It's a pity, but I'm sure there'll be some more club type music in there as well, here's hopeing anyway...

Now that's a quality track list, some cracking rap tunes in there!

Shame the game and equipment is ridiculously expensive :SHAKE:

That is an impressive track list right there, but I won't be getting it! Not a big fan of DJ despite the fantastic stuff they have in there such as The Killers, Wild Cherry, Weezer, Daft Punk, Jay Z and Beastie Boys!

I'm actually quite disappointed with that track list. It's just confirmed what I thought, it's mostly Americanised stuff and quite a large llack of club tunes. Would have loved a good mix of Electro/House stuff but ah well.

The cost of this was probably gonna reduce the odds of a purchase anyway.

I have it on pre-order in store, only recently done it, as read a few reviews and kinda like the look of it now after poo-poo-ing it earlier. Have ordered the Renegade edition too, as really wanted a CD of Jay-Z vs Eminem, but it turns out it's not really mixed by them at all. Tis more or less a Greatest Hits type thing with some unreleased (*see shite which is no use for a normal release) stuff on it. I like the fact it comes in a case which turns into a table for playing the game on. However, I think I could live without it. So for now, I'm thinking of maybe just getting the normal one, or even leaving it. It really is a bare bones game right now it seems.

After playing it, most people are really loving it - whether its review magazines/websites or people getting their hands on demo versions set up in shops.

Think it could be a slow burner, but agree that the £90 price tag will most likely put most off.

The RE is looks great though, the case is really robust and the decks definitely look nicer.

Its good... very good!

I love rhythm games anyway, so a bit biased, but its great fun once you get up to Hard - so much going on, like patting your head, rubbing your belly, standing on one leg, tapping the other foot and humming the national anthem!

Looks like a complete gimmick from that video if im totally honest.

Won't be getting it. Tracklist doesn't float my boat either.

Im with Dar - if it had some club electro/house tracks I might have been interested.

Come on PBB, you must of played this last night! Lets hear what you think of it.

Aye, played it all night!

Really is superb, but like I said, I am a bit biased as I love these sort of rhythm games.

The music is the most important thing I guess and thankfully it excellent on the whole - and I'm not a massive fan of dance music (I'm a rocker!), but I've been humming a lot of the tunes today.

Also, some songs really suck you in, so if you've seen anyone from the dev team play this, you can see they are really into it (like bobbing their heads and looking really relaxed) - well at times, it really does grab you like that. I found myself really into it and as the music is generally uplifting, it does make you feel happy and in the party mood!

The peripheral is excellent - great build quality and no probs so far (and bonus the 360 doesnt need a bloody dongle like the PS3!). The cross-fader is a little hard to get right as it is so loose (as I think it is on real decks), so its easy to slide to far to the other track sometimes, but it will come with practice.

The scratching and rewinds are dead fun, but if I had to say the game had a big problem its the illusion of scratching. The scratching noise is actually part of the song, so you aren't *actually* scratching the track, more just replicating the action when the section comes up. Bit hard to explain but its a bit disheartening when you miss a scratch and the sound plays anyway.

If you can ignore that (and you do 99% of the time), then its very engaging.

Graphics are excellent - models, venues and crowds all better than anything in GH and RB, but its a moot point I suppose as you are always focussed on the streams.

Difficulty is weird.

I went straight to medium after doing the opening tutorials and for the most part, its hard enough. But when you try hard, the game really feels much more immersive (like on GH when you go up to the harder levels, you actually feel you are playing the real notes). Well the same here, there is much more to do in the harder level and it is all in time with the music, so it gives you a better feeling - BUT, its pretty hard to pull off. So much going on - it will have you cross-fading, scratching and pressing alt combos of the buttons at the same time!

I can pass lots of the hard levels (though you cannot fail any) with 3, some 4 stars, but its painful.

Christ knows what extreme is like!

I like the fact there is no failing in the game as it means you can progress without frustration and just enjoy the music - what it becomes then is not 'if you can beat the song', but 'how high can you score' which is much more fun and something GH/RB should have been instead of booting you out the song 95% through it and having to start again.

Not tried online yet, but the leaderboards are a nice addition.

So overall, is it worth it? Its relative I suppose - if you have £90 spare and wanna take a punt, then for me, its a no brainer. Its superb fun and something very different to RB/GH - the fact its score based too gives it longevity.

That said, £90 is a lot of money for most people, so I fear this will really get overlooked and after all the other guitar games, has missed the boat a bit I suppose. How many plastic toys can one house hold? (for the record, my room now has 3 guitars, 2 drum kits - and one 'real' drum kit, a steering wheel, 5 microphones and now a turntable  this is meant to be my 'office')

i completely agree with that...

considering it's called 'dj hero' how many of those tracks come from djs in the top 100 dj list? hopeless...

i hope they 'un-americanise' it soon, and add some european dance tracks, then i'll snap it up.

until then, jay-z??? no thanks!!!

They'd have no chance of selling it if it wasnt so commercialised. If it was full of names that (generally) nobody knows, then it has no hope of getting pushed.

Activision has released the first downloadable content for turntablist opus DJ Hero. Extended Mix Pack 01 features two luxury-length mixes for 480 Microsoft Points on Xbox Live, or £4.79 / €5.99 on PlayStation Network.

The first mix mashes 50 Cent and Mary J. Blige's All Of Me up with Queen's Radio Ga Ga, while the second is a headlong collision between DARE by Gorillaz and the classic Public Enemy cut, Can't Truss It.

The next DJ Hero DLC is a little under a month away. 24th November will see the release of David Guetta Mix Pack 01, featuring three remixes of tunes by the French house DJ. You get When Love Takes Over featuring Kelly Rowland, Sexy Chick feat. Akon and On The Dance Floor feat. will.i.am and apl.de.ap (stop it now) of the Black Eyed Peas. The pack hasn't been priced yet.

All the Guetta tracks and the two Extended Mixes will be made available as single downloads for the Wii on the 24th.

Shocking, DLC that could've been included on the disc again. Someone really needs to stop games companies doing this and force them to not be allowed to release DLC for six months after release or something.

Some David Guetta for those looking for dance tracks anyway.

OMG DLC already that is pure filth :SHOCKING:. And people wonder why there are pirates out there. Companies don't help themselves nowadays.

Quite torn whether or not to get this... How much is the turntable? Hmm, can you even buy just the turntable?

Nope, whole pack only and you're paying £100 or so I think?

Some David Guetta for those looking for dance tracks anyway.

Pop dance... yay. Plus it's the sexy "chick" version, it already loses all it's appeal to me. :TTTH:

If they brought a game with some Bloody Beetroots, MSTRKFT, Crookers, 2 Many DJ's, Ampersand, Deadmau5, Fake Blood etc... then I'd be really interested.

Might not be very big names to some, but they're probably some more of the commercial house out there and pretty big names, plus they do some top notch remixes and self written/produced tracks.

Even given that, I'm still contemplating this game. :JAY:
