Champions League 2011/12

Haha congrats PLF! :)
I guess that makes you a Napoli fan now. :P

Congratulations PLF.
What a joy to watch are those matches in the San Paolo, eacht and every time they are pure entertainment. I really hope Napoli goes through, i rather like Chelsea, but Napoli deserve to through.

Could it be that there will be no more English clubs in the next round of the CL.

I say Napoli 3 - 1 Chelsea. Hell if that happens, I make a ton of money because I've put $35 on it but if it hits, I make $550! :D

Not impressed. Yesterday Floyd Mayweather put 900k on the Nets beating the Knicks. Unfortunately he won. :(

 Well done mate!

Btw, did you notice Eva Carneiro's new hairstyle? Damn, she looked nice!

Hahah yah :P well I've always like Napoli anyway. Probably the best fans in Italy! Super passionate, historic club, and they have some of my fav players right now like Inler and Cavani. I love the jersey as well and respect Mr. De Laurentiis.

Thanks guys, the match went exactly as I pictured. The only thing I was scared of was Napoli winning by more goals when leading like that in their deadly counter-attacks and so 4-1 or even 5-1 and luckily for me, they were fairly wasteful tonight and could've scored much more. Something perhaps they'll rue in 2nd leg as for me they should've won by at least 3 goals tonight. Hell Chelsea's one goal was due to a HUGE mistake and so they never really 'created' much and looked by far the inferior team.

:) completely agree with you. games of napoli vs a big team have always been turning out to be extremely enjoyable matches. Ive been looking forward to the big matches of this passionate team all season long. oh and Lavezzi missed, so close! man you must be scared :P this uptempo game looks too much for a 3-1.

edit: and it's 3-1. now the scary minutes begin for PLF. hold on Napoli! :D

edit2: and it's over! congratulations bro! one hell of a prediction that was! just wow! :SAL:

p.s. I guess you're the only human being on planet earth who can possibly love Ashley Cole atm. :LMAO:

Hahah yah but at that point, I had already hedged my bet and bet $50 on 4-1 result, so even if they had scored, I would've still won but more like $300, not as much. :)
Anyway, thanks bro. Appreciate it! :)

Been a great day as I'd also bet $10 on CSKA vs. Real draw and they scored the equalizer in 92nd minute bringing me $40 profit there as well. :D

@TsO, is that the Chelsea physio? Yeah she's cute! ;)

What a BEAST Walter Gargano was tonight! He's a good player but I'd never seen him play THIS well! This was one of the best performances of his career.

p.s. For those who don't know, him and Hamsik are brother-in-laws.

p.p.s. Gary Neville is quite clueless. Not horrible but bad commentator who needs to educate himself on Serie A and Napoli and its players a lot more than following typical BS English cliches about them and only thinking Lavezzi and Cavani are dangerous. He said a number of stupid things which made me laugh out loud today.

Fully agree and quite possible Gerd. Yes no English teams.

Like I said, for me Napoli should've won by 3 or more tonight but at 3-1 they still have a big advantage and should go through even if it's hardly over.

sweet stuff there Plf

anyhow I remember I called Napoli a blackhorse and a few laughed at me :COAT: I always go for English teams ,but Arsenal n Chels are stuck in a rip current form .

I vote PLF for MOD ! well, need permission from his bird 1st :P

That's her name...that will impress my daughter (my wife less).
My 12 year old daughter is a big fan of Chelsea and she has this joke/phony theory that Chelsea is going downhill since Carneiro is there. She claims all the players pretend to be injured all the time because they liked to be handled by Carneiro. Yesterday she had a field day when both Bosingwa and Mata got her attention. At the moment Carneiro treated Mata, she said: "now i'm sure Chelsea will loose" (at the time it was 0-1).

I think Napoli were quite mediocre compared to the team that beat Milan, City and Inter. They were too nervous at the back and this showed. I think the away goal will hurt them.

Gargano has always been pretty good, and MIlan were linked with him a few years back. I thought Campagnaro and Lavezzi were awesome, and for Chelsea.... did you even know Ramires was playing!?

Regarding English commentators, I"m used to it all. THe worst of all is Adrian Chiles, but he's usually paired with Roy Keane and Southgate, who I think are pretty good at football analysis.

ok, first the important stuff.... who is eva carneiro and how the hell did i miss her!?! :P

second, Sina, u son of a .... :DD not only u got the napoli exact result right, but also the cska draw!! if my theory is correct (football betting being an allegory for manhood), then such a bet equals to a threesome with gisele bundchen and scarlett johansson..... nicely played brother! :WORSHIP::WORSHIP:

and finally about the match.... i agree with stefano here, i think napoli played quite a mediocre game (by their standards at least).... offensively they were incredibly wasteful, and in defense they always looked "in a rush"... to much pressure, not enough composure.... especially when u consider how harmless chelsea looked offensively

of course u can easily justify that; this team has never been on this stage before, and, although what Sina said about napoli fans is true (they really are special), they can also put an unimmaginable ammount of pressure on the players (u guys have no idea... really).
bottom line, their lack of composure, coolness and killer instinct can be easily forgiven..... but yeah, napoli can do (and usually does) a lot better than this.
however, although the quality of the football wasn't the best, the high tempo made up for it and the game turned out to be extremely enjoyable and exciting nontheless.

as for gargano, Sina, yeah, he's definitely one of the most underrated players in his role. however i gotta say yesterday's performance wasn't really that special... he's been playing like this on a pretty consitant basis for almost 2 seasons now.
the real shame is that inler just can't seem to find his rhythm in napoli. he joined the team last summer, but he still hasn't showed the napoletani what an astonishing midfielder he is. i really hope he will (eventually), because a player like him could really help napoli step up their game (not to mention that the partnership gargano-inler would be magnificent, if inler would start playing on his usual level).

oh and btw.....

they even sing the champions league anthem... seriously, how adorable is that! :)) to be fair u can only hear the last word of the anthem (because let's be honest, that the only word of that song most of us know), but still, i find this absolutely sweet and funny.... how come no one ever thought of this before napoli fans? :))

I think the nervousness was also down to Mazzari being suspended (huge loss for both legs).... he usually yells down the line to make sure his players don't get carried away.... and I think this is a huge loss.

oh yeah, i completely forgot about that. that is indeed a HUGE handicap for napoli..... and it's going to make the second leg a real nightmare for the players, as, especially during away matches, mazzarri's contribution from the sideline is extremely important.

what a video , well done napoli fans , shame tribune its not so near field then can be even 5-1 :P

i also did bet last night Napoli - Chelsea pp2+ (first half 2 or more goals)

and CSKA vs Madrid 1-2 (first half win CSKA , all match Real , 30 couficient) :P thought CSKA its going to score 1-0 in first half and then Madrid score 2 or 3 for finish 1-2 or 1-3 but miss i it :P

I'd never heard of this Eva Carneiro so I googled...

What a bad match between Marseille and Inter.
Although this match did not deserve a winner, i'm glad Marseille scored in injury time. They at least tried a litle bit.
Whoever goed through will go out in the next round.

Definately not her.

Your daughter has a good point gerd. As matter of fact, when Mata was being assisted by Eva, I thought "C'mon Mata, you aren't that hurt mate, leave her alone!" Anyway, tell your little girl that your old Portuguese friend is starting to lose his hopes on AVB. :(

Btw, not that I'm questioning Eva Carneiro qualities as a physio, but Chelsea are having a lot of injuries this season. Well, I guess the problem are on the players themselves, they are old and inurjy prone, nothing we haven't already discussed in Chelsea's thread.

Anyway, if you want to know who's Eva Carneiro check this: http://issuu.com/thegibraltarmagazine/docs/gibmag_sep09 (page 27 I guess)

Gisele is overrated amico. Adriana Lima is so much better...

Well well, the underdogs did it again! Superb Basel. :WORSHIP:

Hahah Giselle is indeed over-rated. How many people other than Tom Brady actually like her? I don't. I much prefer Scarlett though I dont think she's anything special either. Anyway, let's get back on topic as I can see between all of us pervs, this thread completely changing into another 'Women' thread. :P

Bebo, you crack me up dude! :D

@Ben and Milanista, I've always like Gargano but he's had his ups and downs over the past couple years, at times he's been an indispensable member of the team and at other times, he lost his place and was more of a 'rotation' player remember? I've seen him put in plenty of solid performances over the years but last night he stood out to me, for me it was one of the best performances I've ever seen him make. Usually he's a lot more low key, last night he was all over the place for the whole match. Hamsik wasn't as good as his usual self in my opinion but most others performed well including Inler who also had that assist from a beautiful early cross which Cavani scored with his shoulder! :D

Gokhan hasn't fully found his feet yet in Naples but he will soon as class is permanent and his quality is undeniable and for me he's already playing good enough, including last night. So imagine how much better Napoli can be when he fully adapts as well and plays up to full potential!

As for today's matches, as soon as I saw Valentin Stocker warm up, I told my friend he's gonna come in and either create or score a goal and so put a bet after half time on Basel winning it and what do you know, he plays great, makes lots of chances, is a real pain for Bayern and scores the winning goal too! :D

My buddy was looking at me like I can see the future or something lol, just got lucky. But made $50 today off watching footy again today which is nice. :)

Good performance from Basel. They're a solid team. Really impressed with the keeper Sommer and the Korean Left-back!! They're both so composed, reliable and play with such confidence!

Great result for Basel...and what a match by their GK!
It will be difficult to hold on to that result however...Bayern will be extra motivated by the fact that the CL final is played in their stadium.

The Napoli game was truly fantastic, the atmosphere in Naples is UNBELIEVABLE. The fans during the UCL theme song gave me goosebumps. However, I think Chelsea will win it in London, as they have the composure and experience that Napoli do not have. Hopefully Napoli will be able outshine, I'm always happy to see clubs like Napoli progress in Champions League.

IMO Napoli will win. I see them score in London and i don't see Chelsea scoring 3 goals in this current form. I even think Napoli can win in London too...would be great for Italian football, this ultra attractive team progressing.

Could see pulling out another important result under pressure, like they did against Valencia earlier in the CL.

Hope not though, Napoli are great fun to watch.
