Champions League 2011/12

Ok, fuck this shit. Dortmund defeated Olympiacos 1-0. BUT...
Just before half-time, their defender used his hand inside the box to stop the ball from going in. The ref instead of the clear penalty showed offensive foul. When our coach-assistant aksed the ref in the half-time, the ref answered that he is almost sure there was a penalty but he didn't gave it. This sounds like a joke. It can't be reality. It can't be that Olympiacos will lose another qualification because of ref decisions. Addind the Arsenal penalty not given, we have 2 points (at least) stolen from us.

P.S. APOEL is there, and I am thankful refs haven't stolen from him one single point. Go Cyprus!

One word : Platini
With video refereeing, the ref see the hand, so PK final score Dort 1-1 Oly and OM in 1/8 !

So,Torres did not take the penalty . What state is he in !? Luiz takes it over Anelka too? interesting anyone know anything about this? :CONFUSE:

You didn't see the match so you have no right to express an opinion. Go see the penalty not given and feel the disgust everyone else felt.

Obviously, you did not see what went down.
Weidenfeller was fouled BEFORE Hummels' handball. He could've caught the ball, dribbled it like Pippen and dunked it like Jordan if he wanted to, wouldn't have mattered.
The ref did the absolute right thing and protected the keeper inside his "sacred area". No room for discussion, unless, of course, you are a conspiracy theorist.

On a more general note: I'm not a huge fan of the whole "protection" rule of goalies inside the goal-area, but that's because refs tend to whistle at even the slightest of touches.
What happened to Weidenfeller in that situation was rough enough, though, and absolutely okay to prevent. Can totally understand Weide's outrage when the official "thought it over" first.

YES!
Genk-Chelsea 1-1. A well deserved point against a much better opponent.
Great atmosphere and the point was celebrated as if Genk had won the CL. This is what supporting litle clubs is all about.
Of course i know that 9 times out of 10 Genk will loose like in London, but this one time they did have a draw.
As a Genk (and football) fan i'm particularly happy with the draw after the reactions in the English press (and i'm not talking about the tabloids, but about the "quality" papers). Once again it was clear how self-centered the English press can sometimes be. Genk were weak, but nobody bothered to point out that at the time all their central defenders were injured and that they had to play with two CMF in the heart of the defense and one RB at CMF. That Toszer (who played CB) had only once before that match had played at CB and that he is the architect of the team with his vision and his passing. Witout all these injuries, it is well possible that Genk would have lost too, but in a more honourable way.
There was also this hack who was writing about Platini and that matches like that are the result of Platini's policy...what a stupid man. Platini wants a more fair division of the money. If he succeeds the result will be that in the future Chelsea-Genk will be a more even match. Now teams from litle countries simply don't stand the slightest chance against big teams because of the unfair division of money in football...
I have nothing against Chelsea, i've always liked them and i hope they will win the CL one of these years...but this year Genk had more right to be in the CL than Chelsea because Genk were champions and Chelsea not. I hope today the English press will reflect on all this, but of course i know better. They will solely focus on Chelsea, how weak they were because they lost a point against "such a weak team"...
Meanwhile yesterday we had a very good time in Genk. Even my daughter (a Chelsea fan) was over the moon with the equaliser.
I'm well aware that after new year Chelsea will still be in the CL and Genk not even in the Euro League and will be burried and forgotten, but right at this moment i couldn't care less...blissfull ignorance. This is what football should be about.

Your team won a match this way (clear referee help) and you dare to talk. The ref was asked from our coach-assistant in the half-time and he said that he was almost sure that there was a penalty. There is no keeper-protection rule. There was a similar moment when your GK sent the ball corner and the ref correctly didn't whistle. But in the penalty moment, this was his only choice, in order not to lose his job by doing the right thing, give us the penalty. And what about the ref behind the net? Didn't he see it too? This is a disgrace. I prefer to be a proud Greek that loses like this than winning with this shitty way.

P.S. Only Olympiacos fans were heard and the match was 1-0. Even UEFA cameras showed our fans inside your home ground (!).

It's running gag with Inactive Member
I didn't mention Platini now. Olympiacos just does not have a man inside UEFA so as to have good public relations (like panathinaikos, the whore of Europe, does for example) and when those wrong decisions against us occur, we have no power if we protest. We can only wait until the day when justice will finally be served.

You need help.
It's not even funny anymore.

Edit: (Anyone interested in how "well" the amazing fans of Olympiacos fans do in comparison should watch some Dortmund league games against Cologne, Frankfurt or the likes. Just saying: I've seen better ... on a quite regular basis, that is.)

APOEL 2-1 Porto
 Wow, that's fantastic, I did not and could imagine this, Bravo APOEL! Now they likely come out in the next round of the tournament, and it is certainly to be the main sensation of the season, well done Cypriots! :P

Yes, Artem that is a HUGE surprise. I haven't seen a single match from this very opne group...i must say i like all the teams in that group. APOEL being first in that group is very unexpected as the 3 other teams are really strong teams.

And I am happy to see myself being correct at one of predictions before the tournament even started:
The most interesting groups are Group A, Group F, and Group G.

Group G
Porto
Shakhtar Donetsk
Zenit Leningrad
Apoel Nicosia

I can say that all teams in this group are even. People may think APOEL is a clear 4th place, but they can win every match in Cyprus, no matter the opponent. No one really can predict this group.

Now they only need victory against Zenit in Russia for achieving the qualification of a Cypriot team in the knock-out stage of the Champions League for the first time ever, being first!

---

On the contrary, I am not at all happy with my team, as the expectations during the summer were too damn high but yet, we are underachieving domestically and in Europe. Once again, the planning is completely wrong.

Good prediction Panos! None of us could've seen this coming! I too, thought the other 3 teams would be battling hard but APOEL would be the Genk of this group and finish 4th. How wrong was I! They've had some luck as well but overall great performances and will now almost certainly go to next round and perhaps as group winners!

In regards to Inactive Member, lol I was actually just gonna say, I can't wait till a mod comes around and makes him live up to his name.

Thankfully, I see it's already done. :)

Hahaha imagine how unjust and unfair he thinks the world is now lol. Referees supposedly screwing Olympiakos and him being banned from sharing his messed up views lol. Must be crying!

Gomez showed some real skill tonight, as did the whole Bayern team during the first half - the rest ... well, let's just never talk about it. :/

It was a messed up evening, though, since Bastian Schweinsteiger suffered a serious shoulder-injury. Hope he won't be sidelined for too long. He was immense these past two months. His absolute best was beginning to shine through again.

Second half was not Bayern's best performance...couple of stupid mistakes there...that is unusual for them.

idk, maybe because Schweinsteiger go out...

btw. why Gomez didnt score that last shoot from own half, ppl would stop saying that he cant score outside 16m box :COAT:

Great shot and great run by the keeper! Just when the TV lets him out of vision, it seems he has given up, but suddenly reappears and saves it!
