Potential Spoiler for the Wlad fight. Don't click if you haven't seen it.

I'm glad you disagreed with my rating for the fight as it is always good hear different opinions on a fight. Maybe you find Wlad's style boring. At least he's not like Rigondeaux. An immensely talented fighter that doesn't get guys out of there. I think Patbou from BT gave the Wlad fight a 57. I have no idea if that equates to a 5.7 on my scale since I don't know how he rates his fights and what scale he uses. For me the two biggest things in boxing that make a fight worthwhile are A) was it good scrap or B) Did it end in a KO or TKO. I've been to my fair share of fights and for the most part ppl left happy and felt they got their money's worth if it was a good scrap or ended in a KO. People love to see knockouts. So, for me a KO artist will always be a draw and worth a watch. That said, some of my fav fights that I have rated 10/10 (Ward-Gatti, Barrera Morales) didn't end in knockouts.

I also mostly prefer fights that have KD's/KO's but primarily they must be competitive fights, watching a mostly world class fighter beat up on a short, fat, overmatched tomato can nobody has heard of who has no place in a world title ring does not make for an enjoyable fight for me, knockdowns or no.

Ya, I see what you're saying. Can't say more because of my stupid IPad. Should be a good weekend of fights. I think Mayweather, Broner and Khan all win by decision. Play it safe and get the win. I don't like it, but hey that's boxing.
 
That may well be how they go but at least with the Broner and Khan fight there's the possibility of upsets, Broner's mental state and Khan's chin can always make things interesting! I'd be shocked if Maidana manages to do what Canelo couldn't, but one can but dream!
 
@ Placebo and YounGun:

Depends on how young guys like Thurman and Porter develop and if they catch him at the right time and on the right night. The thing about Mayweather is that he's a lot different than Jones in that Jones almost relied entirely on his speed and reflexes to win all his fights. Jones was an amazing athlete that just happened to be a boxer. He said so himself back in the 90's.
 
Doesn't Mayweather only have 3 more fights contracted?

I suspect Amir Khan is one and maybe Danny Garcia is another.
 
Yeah that's just his current contract though, I don't think he has any plans to retire anytime soon (nor should he based on his recent fights) and will almost certainly sign a new contract with Showtime.

Some weird commentary on this show. I think it was Al Bernstein who said that Judah ruled the 147 pound division in his prime. Judah never ruled the 147 pound division. He beat a feather-fisted Corey Spinks and lost all of this other big fights.

True but I think with most greats, you won't see the decline coming and I doubt he'll want to continue fighting unless he feels hes capable of being at his best.
 
So I have the three undercard bouts in SD then the main event in HD + Usual quality HD (15.8gb) split files almost finished and now grabbing the ultra high quality 1080i 34gb version (I'll leaves this as 34x900mb as well to make it easier) :)
 
Not sure what happened, was grabbing Khan vs Collazo.M2TS and it suddenly had stopped and now won't start back up again.
 
Yeah it was because it wasn't actually complete (I'd stopped Utorrent) at which point the file unlocked letting you download it, had to drop you from the server so I could start UT again and get the last 10%!
 
Mayweather card after watching the fights:

I'm as anti-Mayweather as anyone but Mayweather definitely won for me, great to see such a competitive fight and Maidana stormed into an early lead but from about the 8th or so Mayweather's bodywork was really taking it out of Maidana and I had Mayweather winning by around 3 points.

Khan's fight on paper was an excellent win, unlike most on here I'm a Khan fan but the holding and pushing down etc is so ugly and frustrating to watch and does him no good in terms of his overseas appeal, unfortunately necessary because of his complete lack of a chin, that said, his first fight in a year, first fight at 147 against someone who's always been that weight and Khan had him down three times I think it was, best one obviously being that short right hand in the corner that was a cracking punch, defensively a massive improvement but there are still a lot of flaws there which I'm not sure will ever be removed completely.

Broner was the usual Broner, for most of the fight he was a lazy cnut and when he let his hands go looked world class, has all the skills but none of the mentality to reach the upper echelons of being a great boxer, if Molina had any power Broner would have been in trouble.

Love fight was a great start to the card, petered out in the end but the middle round where Love was badly hurt woke things up very nicely!

I missed the Love fight. Overall, it was a good show with a main event that delivered so I would recommend that everyone check it out. Commentary was good and the crowd was excellent. Also, one of the strangest entrances in boxing you will ever see. WTF was that?

Won some nice pocket change on all four fights. Thought Broner was being a bit lazy and could have done more. He dominated the fight with his jab and fast combination which shows you how good he could actually be if he put his mind to it. He seems more focused on being an entertainer than a boxer. Khan looked good despite the layoff. He fought the fight I expected him to fight. I`m still not sold on the so called improvements Virgil made to his game though as Collazo didn`t really let his hands go. Really good main event. Mayweather didn`t really get comfortable until about the 6th round. Say what you want about him but the guy has EVERY skill that you need to be successful in the sport. His inside fighting and strength are two of the most often under-looked aspects of his game. Maidana showed him no respect and that is what you have to do with a guy like Mayweather. Mayweather was trying to sucker him with his touch gloves BS but Maidana didn`t fall for it. Good for him. Maidana could do away with the looping right hands on the inside if there`s a rematch. It`s bad form and technique.

So what now for those fighters?

Rumours on the night of a Mayweather vs Maidana II, I wouldn't want to see it really but there isn't that many options out there. I don't think Danny Garcia would be good enough to really trouble Mayweather, he was quite disappointing last time out. The pre-fight talk would be great with Angel though

It would be good to see Khan have a similar test at 147 again, apparently a fight with Robert Guerrero was close to being made last time around so perhaps that would be good

As for Broner anyone that will take his head off will do, if he is stopping at 140 Matthysse anyone!?

Anyone else looking forward to Arreola v Stiverne II on Saturday? Chris' looking really in shape for once and if nothing else his post fight interviews are always fun!
 
I will no doubt watch it, I can't remember their first meeting at all. I do remember watching Arreola dismantle Seth Mitchell though and him doing press ups afterwards right in front of Mitchell! interesting character!

Thurman is a classic boxer puncher that possesses one punch KO power. If he continues to win in that fashion he could be a good draw for the sport like GGG. Thurman has shown that he has a good jab and pretty good movement/footwork. That said, like GGG we won't truly know how good of a fighter he is until he fights someone who can take his power shots and hit him back just as hard. Mayweather might not even fight in September. Thurman should fight the winner of Porter and Brook IMO. About the fight Saturday. The key, like you said, is their conditioning. If they are ready to go we could be in for an entertaining slugfest.

Pete Rose looked like a pimp ringside. I`m going to look for a vault creation of him in MLB the show when I get it

Great comeback by Stiverne. Difference in the fight was that Stiverne could take Arreola`s best shots and Arreola couldn`t take his. That beard will serve Stiverne well if he fights Wlad as Wlad`s left jab and straight right hand are ELITE and rank up there with the very best of all time. Good effort by Arreola as he was busy and dominating the fight with combination punching before he got stopped. His chin will always hold him back from being a world champion
