Battlefield : Bad Company Series

There's a lot of great ideas, it's heaven if you play with your friends.

But... some things are really annoying : the innacuracy of most of the weapons (headshot never works) and how respawn points take who miles away from the action.

But it's fun, a lot.

Bloody is, and I've only played the beta. Since I got into that I don't think I've played an hour's worth MW2.

Each to there own

People say this isn't a run and gun game but it definitely is a massive run and gun game when your on the attacking side whereas the defenders just camp

i think it's a matter of opinion which is best.

i prefer MW1 to MW2, i really don't like all these 'buzz kill' arcade rubbish and the ridiculous akimbo guns, they are just catering for kids. if you were good on MW1 it was because you were good at FPS games, there were some bad points like juggernaut, martydom and last stand for example.

saying all that though, i find BC1 and hopefully BC2 more fun to play than MW1 and MW2.

will there by many getting this for the 360? cause this game is awsome with a group of mates playing together.

Last nigth at around 11pm i joined up with some guys here i think and managed to score the most out of everyone in the server which was great.

i was a medic healing and supporting loads of people and even killed quite a few as well.

The gameplay is excellent and more fun and dynamic then MW2 imho.

The graphics however are poor imho. No fanboy shit but the PS3 beta had slightly nicer graphics.

The sound quality blows away any FPS game imo too. The gun sounds and explosions are excellent. I did not encounter any lag whatsoever and managed to join a party of 8 people with some from here easily.

Overal its a must buy for me but on the PC though as i prefer mouse and keyboard support. It will also look alot better on pc too especialy my quad core i7 system.

If i was to get it on console, it would be on 360 for two reasons: 1. alot of my real life mates play on 360 and 2. The 360 control pad is much better for FPS games than the ps3 one

you know you can buy cheap adaptors for ps3 JM that let you use 360 pads on ps3. not that I'm trying to convince you to get the ps3 one though. I just wondered if you knew.

after playing for a couple of hours on friday here are my initial thoughts.

Positives:-

- great variation of gameplay with the stationary weapons and vehicles.

- playing in a squad is an absolute pleasure, i played with tim and one of his mates (sorry don't know his name) on friday for a couple of games and it was brilliant. we worked pretty well as a team and it's really handy not having to spawn miles from the action. the time we were attacking and we won, it felt like an achievement and we actually did something to contribute (i think me, tim and his mate were the top players). then the next game we defended and we owned the other team, they didn't even get the first two crates.

- the different classes seem well balanced, which is good.

- the scale of the battle when the game is full, one game i played my team were attacking the 3rd set of crates and i spawned at the 2nd set. i set off running to get in the action and as i turned around the hill and looked down to see a massive amount of gunfire from both sides. it just looked quality.

Negatives:-

- not very good if playing on your own, needs a squad of people you know.

- doesn't seem that much different to BC1, which isn't that bad cause i liked it and i know this is only a demo.

- i still think people are given too much health and the guns don't do enough damage, make it more realistic and make people take cover.

- STILL CAN'T GO PRONE!

these are my opinions so far, if you disagree thats fair enough

You mentioned the sound as well JM saying the sound quality is brilliant

Its bloody awful, it sounds like your own gun is miles away from you and explosions sound like they are underwater

That's the first thing i noticed as well tbh when i played it. Very strange what they have done with the sound

Yeah that was fun the other night Andy :TU:.

I totally agree with Coopz though about the sounds on BF2, they do sound, well, just odd. No where near as good as MW2. Maybe because it's just a demo though? Also, the game doesn't run anywhere near as smooth as MW2.

I am crap at both, but MW2 wins hands down for me.

Maybe with the full game will be much better, but I dont think I will get it.

I have never played series before really, is it more tactical than MW2 in that you actually need to talk to the guys in your team and plan things out?

That is what is really missing in MW2, even team deathmatch is just everyone for themselves really. It is fun though :)

The default option is set to HiFi or headphones or something like that but even switching it to surround sound is not much better

I must say I disagree with you about the sound, its arguably the best bit about the game.

I have a Creative Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround Sound system so it definitely ain't my speakers either . MW sounds awesome on it, as does Rainbow Six, etc etc.

Downloaded this demo. I could have sworn I heard this was going to be a demo of their new mode - but it's just gold rush isn't it?

Anyway - I'm not liking it as much as I used to. It's MAG's fault really. The controls feel really slow, the maps feel really tiny and there just isn't a feel of a big war atmosphere.

War Tapes sounds alot better

Why would they have the worst sounding mode as default if they want to promote the game?

They should have demo'd something new... this demo just makes the game feel like the same as the first. Like all of this could have just been some DLC.

your exactly right, it just feels like the first just on a new map.

the one good thing about this game is if you play with a group of mates and work together, but thats it. the destructable buildings is pretty cool aswell.

Battlefield: Bad Company 2 will be supported by day-one downloadable content in line with EA's Project Ten Dollar plan.

Senior producer Patrich Bach from developer DICE toed the new line in an interview with WorthPlaying.

"We have an in-game store where you get free content or you can buy new content to the game, so it's a very integral part of the game that we will have a long post-launch campaign," he said.

"I think people will be thrilled to see what's in that already. On day one, you will get some really cool stuff."

Last month DICE executive producer Karl Magnus Troedsson said that the game would provide "a good bit of stuff for free", as well as paid DLC.

Battlefield: Bad Company 2 is due out for PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 on 5th March.
