I hope so too friend but I dont see it. Remember Arsenal were playing a very poor Reading side, using mostly their 2nd choice players.

Great comeback from Arsenal though, hope you win league cup at least this season.

I'm happy for my Moroccan fellow Chamakh who FINALLY shooted from "long" range and for Arsenal AND Reading of course for this thrilling game.

Now I have to go redownload this game for le fap time.

We were so subdued against United, it's not even funny. The performance was well below par and that Vermaelen had gifted that early goal didn't help at all.
But to be honest, this has been happening when we played them in the last few years. Arsenal look toothless and unable to hurt opposition like United. There was that CL semifinal when they trashed us at our place, and then that mauling last year.

The truth is that Siralix knows how to demand performances from his players and he knows how to adapt to opposition.
On the other hand, Wenger seems lenient with players under performing - there's no French version for the hairdryer treatment or no football boots kicked around in the dressing room.

But most importantly Wenger never adapts. You always know what the starting line-up will be regardless of the opposition. And even as events unfold during a game, he refuses to rectify mistakes or prevent catastrophes. Jack Wilshere was going to be sent off at some point. Why not put on Coquelin and move Arteta up?

Wenger is too rigid in some ways, yet he experiments with mind blowing stuff: using Gervinho as a CF, Ramsey as right winger (and Bendtner as right winger when he played for us). This is mind boggling stuff.

United already have a stronger squad than ours as it is. But it doesn't help that Siralix knows exactly how to neutralise us, and he won't stop short from adapting his team. He has players willing to do the "dirty" work in an unfamiliar roles if needed to. Rooney played a bit behind, practically as a midfielder, and he spent the whole game pestering Arteta, because they knew how important an outlet Arteta is for Arsenal. Not once Mikel Arteta felt comfortable on possession and had to look over his shoulders constantly.
This is the kind of stuff we just won't do.

As much as I admire Arsene Wenger, it pains me to say he has not modernised his style. Either that or he's a bit arrogant and even deluded, thinking he can still stick to his philosophy of "winning with style" with a squad that no longer is one of the most expensively assembled in the league.

Saturday's game was painful to watch, was the kind of thing that exposes us, just how toothless and innocuous this Arsenal side is most of the times. The score line flattered us, 2-1. Could have been more, and certainly wasn't pretty to watch.

Roll on tomorrow, because it will be a big important game in Germany.
 
I think the thinking behind it was Ramsey would tuck in and provide an extra pair of legs in the midfield battle.

If anything, he was probably needed on the other side to help double up on Valencia, who was given a free run at Santos by Podolski not tracking back.

With Gibbs out and Santos a complete liability, shifting Vermaelen to LB and bringing Koscielny in at the back wouldn't be a bad idea.
 
Santos must be one of the worst defenders who ever played for an English big club.

And yet before that match (and maybe after it too), Arsenal had the best defense of the EPL.
 
were Gervinho and Chamberlain injured then? It would have made sense to play two out of 3 including Walcott and played a 'defensive' winger on Santos's side to nullify our right side.

Yep, AOC is still injured and Gervinho will be out for a month. Not that Gervinho would have made a big impact or anything, but still makes more sense than playing Ramsey improvised.

Arshavin and Walcott both played the whole 120 minutes in that midweek madness against Reading, so I understand both were knackered. But still, why not give 45 minutes each? Way better than using Ramsey on the wings.

Santos is definitely crap, he's only fast in his Ferrari. Still, I don't think you could blame him for any of the goals. The team has to defend as a unit, and the supporters should know better instead of singling him out for stuff like that.

Oh, and don't even get me started on the Van Persie shirt swap thing. This is the kind of thing that makes me sick of football and makes me feel more and more detached from it.
The average football fan must be too dumb to realise that it's just a job, and that you don't have to become enemies with an ex-colleague just because they moved to a rival team.

I read earlier on Arseblog that some fans abused Santos' wife on Twitter. This is really disgusting. People ought to find something useful to do with their lives really.
 
has anybody noticed that our players run alot less than other teams, there is very little movement especially when defending. while, other teams have constant repositioning of players and runs made to cover space and pressure opposition.
 
Slight improvement but still poor from arsenal. If we manage to qualify for next round we will lose the next round regardless who we play against. This team is no longer a team that can give the top teams a run for there money in a game. Best We can hope for is top 4
 
Poor Arteta today, very dissapointing result with a penalty given in the last second.

Giroud was awesome today, worked so much, even a lot in the defense, impressive performance for him.
 
Where is the Arsenal Dysfunctional Center located in the states? I hate the feeling in me...I want to go Dexter on something!

Currently watching Spurs against City. Somehow they are still leading 0-1, but boy they are weak...fortunately City is even weaker.

Super GK Hart gave Spurs a big present...

Just when i finsihed this post City equalize....i guess it's deserved. But both teams pla stale football.

In the end City's victory was deserved although City were bad too...
AVB will not end the season as Spurs manager although i'm not sure if he is to blame. Spurs miss quality Arsenal has and at the moment they sorely miss their best player: Dembele.
 
Im at a cross roads w/ Arsenal, either spend or get someone who would. Seeing so many of our ex-senior players , playing in top clubs does me in especially when they`re better than what we have. :COAT:

Arsenal is far from having a deep squad. Arteta had a nightmare of a match, but he's the best we got in the DMF position, even if he's improvised there. Coquelin and Frimpong aren't ready to be there.
But the thing is that teams are learning the secret to hurt Arsenal and keep us at bay. See how Rooney pressed Arteta the whole match last week and now Arteta was again under pressure against Fulham. I think it was Brian Ruiz who nicked the ball from him.
He is playing in an unfamiliar role but still doing very good because he is a top professional.

The decision to have him take the penalty is another mind blowing one, IMO. The team lacks leadership, and it's clear. When you send a player who was having a nightmare of a match to take the decisive penalty, it's madness.
Should have been Giroud, purely because he was on such a confidence high.
Yesterday was Giroud's best match in an Arsenal shirt and he was well up for it, almost scored from long range, he was on a hattrick. Should be him taking that penalty.

On a side note, I read on Arseblog that Arsenal did approach Julio Cesar after all. I feel a bit less aggrieved by this, but still pisses me off how we can miss out (against QPR of all teams) on a world class keeper who got transferred on a free. Surely we could have offered a decent enough salary package, similar to what QPR offered?
Players who come on a free do get a good contract, look at Chamakh now.

There was talk that Julio Cesar would be second fiddle to Sczcesny but I don't buy this. I still think he would walk into our first team with the keepers we have.

I think he proved that he is more than capable of playing that role and played even better in it than Song did. We need to find a way of helping Arteta out though, so if he is getting pressured a lot, then he always has an easy outlet.

The penalty I didn't see, but usually the players make the decision don't they? did Giroud want to take it? What actually happened? If Arteta scored it could have bumped up his confidence for the next game and been great, if Giroud missed it could have brought his confidence down etc. It's easy to say it was a bad decision now.

The Cesar thing was probably about wages, QPR have a lot of money to splash around, they practically bought a whole new team this summer and probably offered him quite a lot in wages. There could be many reasons though, why he didn't come, is he doing well for QPR? (I haven't seen any football for a while).
