Arsenal Thread

At least you can concentrate on the league now ;)

Obviously rooting for you to win the Premier League and with no CL left, the players should hopefully be less tired from so many games as well as have more motivation to get the title.

Best chance in years for the Prem, please don't fuck it up now :)

He's a disgrace of a fan, obviously. A shame all clubs have fans of this kind.

By the way, I don't think Cesc is to blame as much as some fans make it. He lost that ball, sure, but a lot of Arsenal players lost a lot of balls during the match, only he was unlucky it lead to a goal. The only thing I saw was Cesc playing 60 meters away from goal during the whole match. That's not how he better plays. I wander if the right choice, given Wenger decided to defend with all men behind the ball, had been to seat Cesc in the bench and put another deffensive player there.

I mean, with the players Arsenal had in the pitch, they should have played a bit more offensively or change the line-up?

Gerd mentioned something about people thinking Barcelona are boring. Whoever thinks that is a complete moron. Anybody in their right mind would give everything to play for a team like them. Football is about possession and creating chances. They do both of these in abundance. Absolute quality team. Ball doesn't have to go forward at every opportunity you know. Some people don't realise this though. I love all their intricate short passing. It's exactly how I like football to be played.

As for people saying the RVP sending off ruined the game, I cannot agree with that. It was very very harsh but the ball wasn't getting up to him anyway so I honestly believed it wouldn't have made much difference if he stayed on anyway. Against other teams of course it would but not against a side who keep the ball as good as Barca.

If Bendtner scored Arsenal would have gone through. If my aunty had bollocks...
People seem to forget that if Barca scored all their chances they'd have been out of site. If's don't win games unfortunately because if they did, Barca would have won by a lot more.

I like Arsenal but they just aren't on the same level as Barca.

this.

1. It just goes to show how winning your group is so important. If not, this happens. Considering how poor Arsenal's group was, it's unforgivable. It's somewhat 'unfair' to go through this emotional stress 'only' to be in the quarter finals!

2. A consequence of winning your group is having the 2nd leg at home. Again I think we saw how important that can be. Just ask Utd or Spurs or Chelsea in a weeks time

3. Further to above, that away goal in the first leg, even if you lose, is crucial. It proved to be the difference last night

4. Barca deserved to go through, although they're still a massive bunch of c u next Tuesdays. Had the monstrous plonker Dane that is Bendtner have scored at the death, it would've been an injustice in view of the 2 games overall. If the shoe was on the other foot and we went out like that, despite dominating both games, we'd be absolutely livid. And gutted

5. Wenger can blame the referee until he's 70. It won't make any difference. Stop blaming other factors and go home, watch both DVD's back to back and ask yourself if the referee is the reason why you haven't progressed. This Arsenal squad has a massive inferiority complex that will haunt them for quite some time

6. You can't beat great teams with average players let alone hope to win the damn thing. If it were up to me, 4 of our 10 outfield players that started last night would be moved on at the end of the season. Would Rosicky and Diaby ever get into Utd or Barca's team? Is this supposed to be some sort of joke. Can Wenger not see how horribly average they are and have been for quite some time. It's laughable. Sickening. Embarassing.

7. If your players aren't fit, don't play them!

After all is said and done, the comments from Guardiola hurt the most this morning:

The reality is Arsenal were not able to string together three consecutive passes and they were not able to shoot once on goal

They would have made every single EPL team look like a pub team.

Did you watch barcelona destroy real madrid 5:0 at the nou camp?

Well Jonney i often disagree with you, but now i completely agree with you. Both Fabregas and Van Persie should not have played. And although i'm an admirer of Wenger and his football i certainly agree with you when you say that he should stop moaning and watch the DVD of both matches (which he will and believe me, he will come to the same conclusion as you...).

And once again: Bendtner is just not good enough. He can make the difference against Blackpool or Wigan, but not against the biggest clubs.

Finally, Bobby: we've had our differences but you are a guy that i appreciate much...Most things you write make sense. But why in hell is one of your first thoughts about Spurs? We both know that Spurs will not win the CL...but if they would, wouldn't that be a good thing for English football and for football in general? You must admit that although Spurs still seem a frail and vulnerable team, this season they are playing very attractive football. Less refined than Arsenal, but very attractive nonetheless...I will never understand these rivalries...

You haven't met my uncle and a couple of my best mates. They will be gloating and taking the piss for years if they win the champions league on their first go. It is a cup competition so anything can happen really, so Spurs do have a decent chance imo if they get past AC tonight.

I can appreciate Spurs and the way they play and some of their players, but I will never ever want them to win anything. It might make me petty, but that is the way I have been brought up and that is how everybody is with their rivals (on the whole, apart from you :DD)

Same with Man United and Chelsea, I like that we all do well in the champions league so to promote the English league etc. But I would never want them to win it....never ever :DD

I want mutd to win it ! I support my league but if they leave I dont mind Barca winning it, I dont want it going to another London club. It`s the crab in the bucket theory

I would leave the jokes untill the season is over ;) becouse arsenal fans might as well laugh at the end...

Well Bobby, i guess Spurs proved yesterday that they will not win the CL. IMO Milan deserved to go through (although they were far from brilliant too).

I doubt winning the Europa will do that but it'll end the 35 years banner and im sure the City fans are desperate for that reason.

Regarding Arsenal, League to focus on now, Every chance you'll be fresh for each PL game and should win nearly all of them.

All it proved was that they can play badly and still get through. That's what I was saying. It is a cup competition and anything can happen really.

But you would expect a few of the other teams to win the Champions league before them of course.

Wow, gotta say props to Wenger for his response to the UEFA charges: "I deny completely any charge. A bit more humility would do Uefa some good."

Damn straight!

hahaha... It would be funnier if it wasn't for the f*cked up current state of affairs. When you look at such images, it's hard to believe that no one from Barcelona got booked for that incident. What's worse, such incident goes unpunished, only for Massimo Bussucka to send RVP off for an innocuous thing.

I blame Wenger and his players for the defeat before blaming the ref, but it is true that he put the nail in the coffin and ruined the already slim chances that Arsenal had for a comeback. Having said that, I applaud Wenger's answer to UEFA. Those corrupt bastards will always blame and sanction others before looking at their problems from inside and punishing the responsible parts.
